The Ecuador international, 20, scored seven goals for City last season.
But he is likely to be surplus to requirements at Eastlands after the £15million arrival of Roque Santa Cruz, with Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and free-agent Carlos Tevez also on boss Mark Hughes' wishlist.
Caicedo insists he is still holding out for a dream move to Sporting Lisbon this summer, with the Portuguese side able to offer him the holy grail of Champions League football.
He said: "I have not heard anything from City so my ideas about leaving have not changed.
"I want to play in the Champions League and that's why Sporting Lisbon will be a good alternative for me.
"I know Sporting have contacted my agents but now I'll have to wait and see."

Caicedo is a young forward with a great career ahead of him. I've seen him play many times, he has got all the attributes of being a quality forward, great strength and composure, but with the number of Forwards already at City (Bellamy, Evans, Benjani, Robinho and Bojinov) as well Jo Loaned out to Everton and Sturridge going to Chelsea, not to mention the arrival of Santa Cruz and probably Tevez and even Eto'o. Now is the time for Felipe to pursue his career elsewhere and Sporting Lisbon would be a good move for.. Good Luck Felipe

he is young and i've seen him playing so many times and he used to get caught in each and every off side traps set by the opposition defenders and also easily gets angry for his mistakes, so better sell him to lisbon if right offer comes.

Felipe is young and improving. He did OK (but no more than OK) last year and has the chance to improve. I do not believe he is being pushed out of City but if he feels that the competition is going to be too hot at City for him to play sufficient games then he is free to follow his career elsewhere.
