at the end of the day, what chelsea have right now is a winning side who have just lost out in the last 2 seasons. Does that not tell you anything? it tells you firstly that they need more poise in attack as although they came so close to emulating manchester united they didn't quite do it, and why? lets break it down as the best side in the world last season was barcelona...agreed.....in their attack they have at least 5 world class skillfull players, within chelseas attack we relied on the lng ball and the odd knock on, what Ancelloti needs to do is take out some of the defensive elements, players like ballack, mikel, belletti, and replace them with proven skillfull attacking players that will balance the chelsea team out to be more styish and skillfull. how on earth can you play attractive football when the four guys in midfield have been moulded to defend, we need some flair and umph that chelsea used to have with the likes of zola not this pig headed defend or die mourinho crap. what im trying to say is cut out the defence for a minute we already have a world class defence concentrate on attack and in one or two years chelsea will rule again and im betting ancelloti will be a success.

its really surprising to read comments ! i think most of the chelsea fans does'nt know the value of thier own players! most of them wanted to sell Anelka!!! people... he's the PL top scorer for last year! and every one want him out.. for whom?? pato and aguero?? both of them are not tested in PL and i dont think will start scoring goals from the day One! it would be ideal for Chesea to add another striker instead of selling proven goal scorer like anelka .one or two players cannot change the playing style of the entire team..success and style cannot be achieved easily, it would take few more years for chelsea to change thier playing style b'cos their senior players were moulded under Mourinho's philosophy and its not easy to change thier playing style because most of them are over 30 years !scolari understood it from his experience and hiddink allowed them to play thier game instead of forcing them to change .

Chelsea never seems capable of signing anyone fantastic. Most of the time than not they are big flops.

Chelsea is getting really boring to watch. The team is too physical. They should bring more players with skills on the ball.

Joe Cole is a fantastic player and skillful indeed. Bosi as well. These players can give Roman the style he craves for. Malouda and Essien is fantastic as well.

I think they should just sell Drogba and Anelka. I know these two are proven but it is jsut plain boring watching them.

I used to admire the way ashley cole played when he was at Arsenal. No doubt he is fantastic but Chelsea has to make full use of him. The chelsea style of playing or tactic is making him look so ordinary these days.

Another problem with Chelsea is they are capable of turning a world class player like shevchenko into a major flop. Chelsea is trying to make these players adapting to their style of playing. They are not given the chance to do what they do best.

Chelsea needs more skill up front. They need people like Fernando Torres but i doubt chelsea will land him. Missing out on robinho is a killer. Pato for 50 million, i dont know. If you ask me i would rather spend it on other better player like Ribery.

The majority of contributers here know sweet Football Association about Chelsea playing staff and their abilities let alone their possible replacements. Everybody has a bad day/week at the office at sometime but that doesn't mean they should be ushered out. "New boys" take time to adjust and frequently they fail to settle in.

I say keep Bosingwa an Joe Cole, if it aint broke dont fix it. If Zhirkov is a done deal (and a good one at that, a good player with not big attitude or price tag, could be a good catch imo) then we dont need Ribery (as much as i would love to see him play for Chelsea). Sturridge and Turnbull would be awesome young English signing and would meet the uefa champions league 4+4 rule for the squad. Buy Pato for whatever it takes, his age and love for Ancelotti would make him a great faithful player and good backup for Drogba when he is away for the African Cup of Nations (and his champions league suspension). Sell Deco, Calvalho, Shevchenko, Hilario (who may already have been released if my sources are correct). With those sales pretty much all of the signing except the giant sized Pato bid will have payed for themselves which leaves another £50 million for Ancelotti to spend, perhaps on another young striker like Aguero, or maybe even more advanced future planning in Marcus Berg, Alan Dzagoev (the latter we have been strongly linked with), and Jonjo Shelvey. Either way, whatever happens, exciting times ahead for Chelsea!

You DO NOT win the champions league with a team like Big Sam would built, you win the Champions League with these "big money head players" or whateva yous boys call em!
Ribery you definetly need, and at least someone else in midfiend to raise the quality, either Pirlo, Xabi Alonso, or even Fabregas. Pato is not quite at the top yet, but once he becomes more consistent than he will be 1 of the best !

Whats the point in selling joe cole and bosingwa, bosingwa has been one of the best right backs this season and joe cole has already proven he is worth anything, we should buy pato as he is only 19 and so he would have time to grow and fit into chelsea, take malouda for example, he took 2 years and now he is suddenly a good player, pato has a good 14 years or so of football left, we wont sign the liverpoo players and such, but who needs them when we have our quality player and hopefully bringing in 1 or 2 more.

i think we to keep the likes of malouda, as he proved himself at the end of the season, bosingwa should go or start playin right mid as he was a waste of money, we need to keep Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Essien, Cech, Alex, Joe Cole, Ashleigh Cole, Anelka if we want to win the champions league.

I think good signings this season would be Maicon, Tevez and maybe the big Adriano, as chelsea have to look realisticly at there budget.

Mathew, Chelsea WILL get some of the players mentioned, we already have 3 of them in Zhirkov, Sturridge & Turnbull (a very promising young keeper as cover to Cech) and we will probably get one or two of the others mentioned, personally i would like to see Tevez & Ribery, that should give us a great chance of the League & Champions League next season, and Joey Cole will go no-where, he is Chelsea through & through.

Why all the talk of selling Bosingwa, one of the best wing backs in world football? Has he fallen out with the Chelsea hierarchy because we have been linked with Glen Johnston and Maicon?
Instead let's off-load some "deadwood", Ballack, Deco, Ferreira, Shevchenko, Pizzarro, etc.

The players that must go are Deco, Carvallo, Malouda, Minheiro, Ferreira, Ballack, these players are all over the hill. We only need one creative midfielder and a left winger that can actually dribble past opponents and also score goals to add to the signings of Zirkov and Sturridge and Turnball. We must also encourage the youth especially local youth as the new rules may come in soon. We also need to send one or two youngsters on loan.

Boswinga and Joe Cole have been 2 of Chelski's best players, I'd have them rather than a £50m punt on an unproven talent (Pato).

There are plenty of flops in their squad, I'm suprised at those facing the axe.

As for getting Torres, Alonso or Fabrigas... they haven't got a cats chance in hell.

if we want to be a great club, we should buy two or three good pleayers in coming season but we must not let go joe cole and bosinwa because we are known by them.In myanmar most of the chealsea's fans are love joe cole.and my thought is we must not buy an old age man like deco, and pialo from ac milan.

Chelsea is a formidable team as it is now,with few tired legs or over relaxed ones like ballack and mikel,they should be more goal oriented.i am a Nigerian,but i would say this mikel is competing in goals with cech,he is a good midfielder,but a terrible goal scorer.pls quresma if still at chelsea would be a great asset,he is a good play maker.pls retain joe cole if possible,players like him,drogba,terry,lampard,essien,ivonovic,bossingwa,ashly,alex,cech,kalou,malouda,etc play d game with so much passion,it mks it great to be a fan of chelsea.we need a striker to assist d ones we v now,so we dont over work them in all a campaigns.anelka is good,and getting better.u v a large fan base in Nigeria.i figure ppl could pay as much as $50 to watch u guys here.keep up d good work.

personally, i think the two stellar signings have already been agreed, ribery and villa. valencia wanted villa to accept chelsea's offer and i think the fact valencia have said he is not for sale is a cover up so madrid and other clubs look elsewhere which forces villa to chelsea and i think the fact wer'e looking for another right back means bosingwa who bayern wanted will be part exchange and the fact they have now said he is not for sale suggests a deal has already been made, as if we would sit back and wait while madrid snap up europe's talent, chelsea aint stupid and even if its not ribery and villa, im positive deals have already been agreed on the low, and will be announced after ancellotti is unveiled.

Pato woud be a good addition to chelsea, but does'nt really worth the hype surrounding him. He does not deserve to be bought more than, at most,25 million pounce. Yuri Zhirkov and Frank Ribery with Bruno Aves and one other midfielder,Andre Pirlo would be perfec fof chelsea.

I think we should get a young GK (neuer being my first choice), a right back, Zhirkov, Ribery, Sturridge and Tevez. No more after that were all forgetting about Joe Cole who i think is part of the heart and soul of Chelsea and hes passion for the game is something that you cant buy.

A good summer for Chelsea will be the three already mentioned (Zhirkov, Sturridge and a new GK) plus just one stellar signing preferably out of Pato, Aguero or Ribery. That's it.

That squad (with departures of Deco and Carvalho the most notable) would be more than good enough for a good stab at all four competitions next season.

why not abramovich wanted Carlo Ancelotti ever since he came and he was first choice after mourinho got sacked no wonder abramovich didn't spend because he was just waiting for Ancelotti. but still it is is a bit hard to believe about torres and fabregas but i do believe what they say about zhirkov and turnbull and sturridge and frank ribery and pato

who knows abramovich might be think this is a new beginning.
