ASTON VILLA are ready to make a £5million swoop for German international Tim Borowski.
Boss Martin O'Neill hopes to land the 6ft 5in Bayern Munich midfielder before training starts next month.
Villa have also been linked with Spurs' Tom Huddlestone but Borowski, 29, has played at a much higher level.
He was a key member of the German squads at the World Cup in 2006 and Euro 2008.
Bayern are desperate to raise the cash to capture Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa.

WE NEED A RIGHT BACK AND A CENTRAL DEFENDER!
We have enough forwards and midfielders.
Give this squad a chance.
Choose wisely Martin.

AS A VILLA FAN I CANNOT SEE US PROGRESS UNDER MARTIN O NIELL. HE'S GOT NEW CHAIRMAN WITH A WALLET AND HE ONLY PREACH THE 1980'S SYSTEM (WHEN THE GIANTS ARE BUYING WITH BIG MONEY)AND ALL WE GOT YET IS 6TH SOMETHING DAVID O' LEARY DID WITH OUT A WALLET. HE GOES LATE IN THE MARKET JUST TO BE ACCENTRIC.

Good signing, he's got alot of experience at the top levels of football, but O'Neill has got to make sure he's only the stepping stone for bigger signings..
I'd like to see Bentley, Jenas, Hangleland, Owen and Sneijder yet, but knowing O'Neill he'll wait until the last week of the transfer market then sign poor players when all the quality players have gone.
HURRY UP MARTIN!!!
