The Black Cats' new boss Steve Bruce is a long-time admirer of LuaLua, 28. And he wants the DR Congo captain to be one of his first signings as he rebuilds at the Stadium of Light.
LuaLua scored just five goals in 59 games for the Toon before moving to Portsmouth and then on to Greek side Olympiakos in August 2007.
He has spent the past year with Qatar side Al-Arabi and said: "I loved my time in the North East. I'd love to play again in the Premier League."
Meanwhile, NOE PAMAROT is set to quit Portsmouth after agreeing a deal at St Etienne.
The French defender, 30, made 22 appearances last season as he was kept on the bench by the form of Glen Johnson.
Pamarot has now decided to return home in a bid to secure first-team football and kick-start his career.

Don't be so petty. I am a Sunderland fan and I am disappointed that Newcastle went down........there is nothing quite as fun as watching geordies cry when we beat them....especially if we were to do it with ex-newcastle players. Seriously though I hope to see both Newcastle and Middlesbourgh back next year so that the northeast can do what is really important....beat Man U.....stand up if you hate Man U.

Grae...you cannot say you were proud of the way Sunderland played... because if you are then you are easily pleased. What have I got to laugh at....You lot when you Go down next season.lolWe may be in the championship...but by god you lot have been there many, many ,many times..and no doubt you will be there again....So have your season in the Pl....Then who knows next season..especially when Bruce is shopping at harrods....Maybe he should shop at that penny bazaar in sunderland.Lol you lot can't blame any body having a pop at you...It'll make you feel important...like somebody cares, not .

Luck? In fact I seem to recall the only reason we didnt take 6 points out of you was a dubious decision at your place! And what have you got to laugh about we ARE in the premier league and you arent LOL. You quote On the face of it you did no better, well on the face of it, more points and premiership football begs to differ. And do you not mean toon in the shadows, because the lights are shining from our stadium, and its a sunny day in Sunderland

It is good to see the black and whites returning to form. You have been too quiet and submissive since relegation. I was beginning to worry that you might have actually seen the light and would start to behave like proper supporters. But I needn't have worried because you will never see that the blame for all of your troubles lies firmly on the shoulders of you the supporters, because you never give any manager (Messiahs excepted) a fair chance.
By dave mason.. Posted June 21 2009 at 10:47 AM.
Yes just look West Brom away first fixture of the season and Queens park rangers the last. Also you mags are getting 8 more games a season for you money

GILLY HAM
Your right Gilly its a complete different team, its the team that won 2-1 at the stadium of light against Newcastle .. a point there would have kept you up ;-)
Its the team that managed to get enough points to maintain premiership status.
Can you see a noticeable trend here we are living in the present i.e today, all you can do is bang on about years gone by, typical deluded Geordie always living in the past, GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!!
Speaking of attendance lets see how loyal wor gordee fay-full are after youve rotted for a few seasons in the championship!
By G rae.. Posted June 21 2009 at 10:21 AM.
look lets put things into perspective what club rewards players with 10 million pounds of bonuses.also giving them a increase in wages for next season.toon fans need to find a nice big stone and crawl under it.things arnt great a sunderland but we have hope .seamibob
By seamibob.. Posted June 21 2009 at 10:22 AM.
G rae...yes you are playing in the PL more by luck more than performance.... but...how long for.lol.Yes we could only Get 7 wins but on the face of it you did no better. It does'nt matter what league Newcastle and Sunderland are in, you and I know you will always be in the shadow of "The Toon".
By amy.. Posted June 21 2009 at 10:05 AM.
G rae.
This is a different Sunderland that only won 3 games in the Premiership of course in season 2005/2006.This is a different Sunderland who were stuffed by a poor Newcastle 4-1 that same season at the Stadium of S**** and the attendance was about 9000 below capacity that day. When goal no 4 went in your ground was less than a third full.Yeah, this is a different Sunderland and Cattermole is a quality player!!!!!!!!!!!
By GILLY HAM.. Posted June 21 2009 at 9:50 AM.
your down toon accept it, see you in the northern league with blyth and gateshead free fall looms eat your heart out. Stop living in the past face reality you are finished good riddance. Shearer to West Brom posy move

BRILLIANT AGENT BRUCE BRINGING IN THE MIGHTY LUA LUA HAHA MORE LIKE TOON ARMY
By CRAIG DOBSON.. Posted June 21 2009 at 9:29 AM.
To Amy and David,
Amy first- Bramble and Bruce worked well together at Wigan, Bramble winning player of the season for Wigan. Cattermole is actually a quality player who you sorry jokes would back flip over hot coal for (watch this space), who are you linked with again? Oh yeah thats right no-one because your crippled with the current wage bill of a team who struggled to muster 7 wins last season! Your right though, for a lot of years your club has occupied higher positions, BUT that is now history, and all but irrelevant because we are playing in the premiership and you are not. DAVID in response to your quote you will never be as big as the toon as a team or city, well lets take a moment to analyse some actual facts. 1) We are in the premiership, you are not! 2) We have won the more recent silverware 3) we are richer with brighter prospects. 4) (And I work with population demographics) Sunderland is the larger city! So actually your quote holds no water! Night X
By G rae.. Posted June 21 2009 at 9:20 AM.
Asking for our own airport indeed. As if? Why do that David when we can leave the dirt, smell and noise of an airport where it belongs, on your doorstep.
Lua Lua? What was it they sang in Jesus Christ Superstar " Miracle wonderman hero of fools"
Bruce worked miracles with one of your defensive rejects at Wigan, perhaps he can actually walk on water and make a player out of Lua Lua but thus far all we have seen is a lot of press speculation about a multiplicity of players and not one saying he is joining us.
By Alan T hedley.. Posted June 21 2009 at 8:31 AM.
I am worried about the massive toon club, will blackpol and doncaster be big enough for there fans? and will the laughing policeman be able to stop laughing at there obese fans?

Is this the shopping at harrods that Steve Bruce is on about.lol Titus bramble (tooncast off)cattermole.Pennant and lua lua (another toon cast off)Just goes to show even BRUCE knows even with all the money in the world it is going to be hard to get players top players to come to Sunderland.MARTIN yes your in the PL with a billionaire owner ...so were we...Ian sca..you say Newcastle are a laughing stock...well..Sunderland have been a laughing stock for years...And with a bit of luck seeing that you are shopping at harrods for your players lol. we will swap places with you next season...
By AMY.. Posted June 21 2009 at 12:57 AM.
david searles lol, dream on sunshine your living in the past, i hear they are closing a section of sid james down for next season, nufc are a laughing stock, even leeds will be able to laugh in your face as you pass them on your travels down the leagues, oh wait, dont tell me, your going to come back up as champions 20 points clear of everyone else. we were bigger than you years ago and we will be again, you did know there was football before 1992 right?
By iain sca.. Posted June 21 2009 at 12:18 AM.
To David Searles - That's big talk coming from a supporter of a team in the lower leagues. I'm a Sunderland supporter and nothing grinds my hump more than some kid spouting off - why? Because of one city is close in distance to the other!! It's like living in the freekin stone age. Get a brain - muppet. By the way - we're in the Premiership with an awesome chairman, and a billionaire owner. Your in the doldrums with a muppet and a pauper. Good night xx
By Martin .. Posted June 21 2009 at 12:13 AM.
Lua Lua would be a brilliant signing for the makems and their legion of fans at the stadium of Plight (concessions)! He is one of our castoffs and personally never really made the grade as is so unpredictable and will appeal to the makems paying £1 a game to fill their stadium - you will never be as big as us the toon as a team, city and next you will be asking for your own airport!!!!!!!
By david searles.. Posted June 21 2009 at 12:01 AM.
better not get lualua or i will not get my seson ticket thier will be war
