Cristiano Ronaldo:

Defiant £80million striker launches fierce attack

Slideshow

CRISTIANO RONALDO stuck two fingers up at his critics and insisted he doesn't care if his mega move makes him a hate figure.

Many Manchester United fans say they are glad to see the back of the Portugal winger. But Ronaldo remains defiant after his world-record £80million switch to Real Madrid.

He said: "I love it when people jeer me. I love to see the hate in their eyes, to hear the insults. It doesn't bother me. It's true lots of people hate me but there are even more who love me and who support me. I feel bad only when I play badly. Fortunately, that happens rarely."

The winger, 24, grabbed heaps of silverware during his time at Old Trafford but added: "I still have a long way to go. I really want to re-write the history of football.

"I am aware I'm already among the best of the best but I want to continue to write many more beautiful pages."

In an interview which will appear in French magazine So Foot this month, Ronaldo claims he is capable of eclipsing even the classiest of rivals, like Barcelona wizard Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo added: "I have nothing to envy Lionel for. I don't compare myself to others. I am Cristiano Ronaldo - and I can win more medals than anybody else. I don't like to relax. The fans want to see a great Cristiano Ronaldo so I try to never disappoint."

Ronaldo could return to Old Trafford in next season's Champions League group stages. Real's modest recent record in the competition sees them provisionally seeded as only the ELEVENTH-BEST side in Europe.

But Real president Florentino Perez will aim for an instant turn-around in fortunes, especially as next year's final is at the Bernabeu.

Im A Newcastle United Fan And I Think Ronaldos Not A Cheat At All Hes Just A True Amazing Player And Manchester United Did the Wrong Thing By Selling Him In My Eyes Even Tho Hes gone To Real Madrid He Will Be Missed By Most Manchester United Fans And I Dont Think He Lefted For Money He Lefted For A Differant Club And A Better Talent And I Hope When Madrid Play Manchester United They Lose And Im Really Hoping That Ronaldo Scores A Hat Trick Past Them Because It Would Serve Them Write.

ppl saying that ronaldo left for money is simpyl untrue, from when he was young he was a Real Madrid fan he even said in his first season with utd that he would like to go to Real, its like if Gerrard had played for celtic and Real purchased him, made his name and then went to liverpool.

im a utd fan and i hold nothing against him he was great whilst he was here and will be missed

i believe that man.u has lost a great player in its life ,but he 'll not be the only one if the managers think crucially for who replaces him ?

By mitku.. Posted July 10 2009 at 7:47 AM.

There is only one word for all you haters out there -JEALOUS. Leave Ronaldo alone. He cannot help it if he is young, talented and gorgeous. Go Ronaldo. You are in a league of your own.

By Sam.. Posted June 24 2009 at 12:47 PM.

Ronaldo was a good player, but he will never be a great player. He can get a lot of money, but he didn't understand things like honour, loyalty, solidarity. He was a moment in Man Utd history, but that's all. We'll remember Dunkan Edwards, sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs - they are the true legends of Manchester United. We will forget Ronn and will go further. United will be glorious without him!

i don't care what the people says about ronaldo. But i want to say that Ronaldo is the great and the best now.he is very strong man and very good football player so far.so that he is proper to get higher cost than others football players.viva ronaldo, viva portugal.Joe

I'm a fan of Manchester United. I really miss Ronaldo when he left Man Utd. I wish he'll never forget Manchester United Club and fans. I know he'll never return to Man Utd but his activities still appearance at OLD TRAFORD. How can i hate him ? I know he wants to improve his life. He maybe got the best future. I just feel regret. I don't want he leaves us but it's just a dream. Real Madrid is a great club that can catch C.Ronaldo. I wish Ronaldo will still play well.
Just want to let u know don't forget your fans at Manchester United. 7 shirt will be change but i still keep u as in 7 shirt of Red Devils. Good luck in Real Madrid. Hope you're still a bright and famous portuguess star in Real.
From your fan ( Man Utd )

Cristiano Ronaldo has born to play in Real Madrid. It was just a matter of time to see him playing in the best team ever. It will make Madrid better and it is bound to win the next Champions League. You only have to see the bet websites...

He will always be my player. I love him cos he is a real player! the only thing is that, he loves money too much.He should remember that money can not buy happiness.

By josiah.. Posted June 17 2009 at 6:20 PM.

Ronaldo is a good striker. I think he is most leading player of football now a days. I wish him good luck

By Asghar.. Posted June 17 2009 at 12:39 PM.

He will never be a great in my eyes. Superb footballer, too many tricks and a whole back catalogue of foul play. A sniper at every game wouldn't cover his cheating. Sir Stanley Matthews, Garry Mabbutt, Terry Butcher, loyal, hard working gentlemen of the game...take your pick of greats. Ronaldo lets himself down every time, shame.

By Rich.. Posted June 16 2009 at 7:56 PM.

No matter the hell you think you are, the main thing that will destroy you is ARROGANCE and inability to recover from childish behaviour.
Fans, is it a lie.....??

By kenn.. Posted June 16 2009 at 1:12 PM.

kaka + ronaldo = Rooney. so guys don't worry!

By mun.. Posted June 16 2009 at 9:11 AM.

I just wonder, where were all these Real Madrid fans all these years ago! not a word from them and now suddenly they are cropping up from every angle. The same happened when Barca won the champions league, every one suddenly became their number 1 fan! how pathetic is that?

man u is a classic footballing institute, it's not a celebrity club. it's simple really. ronaldo, unfortunately but not surprisingly, is following beckham's footsteps. he wants to become a football celebrity, not a football legend. it's all about him and not the team. he will have his two seasons of fame in spain and then begin to fade. Probably end up playing in Milan. Then, at 30, move to the LA Galaxy!

you want legends? Giggsy, now that's a proper footballer.

By al.. Posted June 16 2009 at 6:59 AM.

Ron has a characteristic that would make people hate him-he's arogant. But everyone must agree that he's talent. He is an intersting figure who colors the picture of football world. I like to watch he playing the ball. I support him.

By tungbengvn.. Posted June 16 2009 at 3:04 AM.

No big player wants to join a small club like united. That is why fergie will be frozen with his $100m.

By Livi.. Posted June 16 2009 at 1:50 AM.

Im a Real Madrid fan , y also follow ManU , there is no player bigger than a club....I like the way C. Ronaldo plays , but i dont like the way he talks.....He should learn from Messi and Kaká how to be humble.
Hope we are doing well by hiring him...........HALA REAL MADRID

By Gary .. Posted June 14 2009 at 7:25 PM.

Ronaldo achieved everything with MU, in Madrid he can develop as a footballer , if won't get crazy due to media(Paris Hilton affair)

By XXX .. Posted June 14 2009 at 5:41 PM.

Have to laugh at some of the comments about Man u not being a big club, outside the top 10? Strange statements from bitter rival fans. Obviously the foreign players enjoy the better climates than here. What is the most watched league in the world and who has been dominating the champions league for the last 5 years? Yes thats right Premiership Clubs. Seem to remember a few English clubs always being in the quater final stages ????

By Craig .. Posted June 14 2009 at 5:06 PM.

Real is bigger than united and rolando want 2 play 4 best club.

By samson o.. Posted June 14 2009 at 4:13 PM.

All the hate towards Manchester United...if your not a fan then this is not your business so grow up.

As for Ronaldo...fair enough he is a good player. I support The whole team at Manchester though and dont care he has gone as it is the past and United always push on, always. However i do believe that Real will not be a success for him as he was the only ego at united but he will have to share all the spotlight with all the new ego's going to real, he will not like it and when he doesnt like the way things are not going his waythen usually he cant play football that well at all.

By James.. Posted June 14 2009 at 4:17 PM.

Wow, just shows what kind of guy he is, he is a cold hearted *bleep* . Its great to see this though, man u fans, fergie and Manchester untied itself have been shown that your not the team that top players dream of. Fergie thinks all players want to be at man u lol ..yeah this is why Kaka, Zidane, Ronaldo (the original Ronaldo), one trick ronaldo, Messi, Figo, Romario etc see Real, barca, milan Juventus as the dream move . United with their fat pockets cant lure these players in their prime ..or hold 'one' in his prime lol

By SidneyXda.. Posted June 14 2009 at 3:44 PM.

ronaldos career is finished as hav many others when they hav moved to real madrid, utd need 2 get rid of carrick and nani and anderson too they r overated and not prgressed, utd need a new midfield fergies lost the plot. thers too many palyers at utd who just aint good enough.

By zloc.. Posted June 14 2009 at 3:01 PM.

what in his mind actually?? United, recently is the best club in the world.no doubt about it.He will get curse in Spain..Football is not an individual game.

By enron2u.. Posted June 14 2009 at 2:32 PM.

I adore Ronaldo, I think he is an excellent player, at the end of the day he was never gonna stay at united forever, he is young and has a good future ahead of him, I think people should give him a break, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but he can't help the fact he is talented, rich and gorgeous!!!

By Louise.. Posted June 14 2009 at 2:10 PM.

Ha Ha Ha, that Ronaldo is a joker, better than Messi and thinks he can outshine him?

Well if this was the case, where was he in the champions league final? He went missing after the first 10 minutes, probable stood admiring the brilliance of Messi as he completely outshines, outclassed and outplayed Ronaldo all game. In face he even played Ronaldo and the other 10 Man Utd players off of the pitch.

The only contribution I ever remember Ronaldo making was dangerous two footed tackles, ranting to the ref and then at the end of the match he looked like a spoilt brat who didnt get his treat this time around. I dont know how he could even blame Fergies tactics as the best players can play anywhere on the pitch. Look at messi he usually plays down the flanks, but this time he was played centrally and he showed why he is the worlds best.

By Daniel Duncan.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:42 PM.

the guy was a class act, turned it on most of the time when needed, but let himself down in the final by trying to make it the ronaldo show (watch first 10 minutes, he tries it all himself!!). the guy didn't want to be at united so why have him, 80 million is great money, i'd sell anyone for that. now rooney can play as a striker and we can get valencia to play right wing plus we will still have 60 million for other playes. and to all the united haters, yeah we will miss him for now but we missed beckham for the first season when he left and got a kid in called ronaldo that made us forget beckham was even at our club.......it will happen again. we produce class. we are manchester united, all you others that support the lesser teams, liverpool, chelsea, arsenal, city, spurs, you are all just jealous.

By jason.. Posted June 14 2009 at 1:29 PM.

WHAAAT who said MAN U was bigger than REAL? u so DUMB check it out...REAL has 9 champions leagues and 30 league titles...who ever says man u is bigger than real has only statted watching football two or three years ago...get angry get even angrier coz RONALDO has chosen the biggest club and how i wish we meet REdNOSE next season so that u might just learn to SHUT UP....hahaha RONALDO RONAAAALDO!!

By eugene.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:58 PM.

Ronaldo is a great player no doubt but to be honest all the great players these days dont give a toss about the fans, I know guys who follow their team all over and would spend all they have to do so. Most of the players i really hate because they lie to the fans and pretend they love our clubs when they dont but the player you hate one day you end up loving the next when they sign for your club and score a winning goal or make a comment saying they dont like a rival club. The sad thing is we will always support or team no matter what but don get a real say in what goes on.

By paderbornbhoy.. Posted June 14 2009 at 1:23 PM.

if ronaldo won united the league how come a young italian got the winners in two games running surely the special one should of done that

By bob.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:12 PM.

So Ronaldo is leaving,so what !I have been a United supporter for 50 years and personally I think good riddance to him! 80 Million is good business and for that money hopefully we can buy somebody who is loyal and WANTS to play for United. As for him wanting to come back one day he can forget it. I`d rather see David Beckham come back!!

By Bob W... Posted June 14 2009 at 12:36 PM.

No player is bigger than the club, after all most of his goals were set pieces at least we can have players who know they play in a team.Ronaldo was a selfish player who only wanted to show he was the best in the world, that's why he was outclassed by Messi in the champions league. What people forget is that the man behind his success is ROONEY.That's why he is a shadow of him self when he is playing for portugal.

By Derick.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:10 PM.

i just love ronaldos arrogance the way he just sticks his two fingers and moves on at the drop of a hat without so much as a bye or a leave man u fans should understand he does not care for anyone does not care what anyone thinks as he knows he is the best player on the planet and that is all there is to it ronaldo did not take united to his heart he was probably thinking i will play for the club and when the time is right i will just clear off and that is exactly what he done all the insults and the revulsion and the spite and this and that is not going to make him change his mind as a gunner fan i really do admire his arrogance and his cheek he is like saying am i bothered as he is going to be earning a fortune at real and topping up his beautiful tan he looks buff everytime what a pretty boy i notice all the players that have gone in the last few seasons fergie either sold them or they wanted to go as they were not playing first team football ronaldo actually went of his own choosing how arrogant is that he will come back to haunt united

By jade.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:44 AM.

What the r u talking about Carlos..Manchester United ARE BIGGER than Real Madrid.u must be a madrid fan to say that. United fans bigger than Ronaldo Manchester United bigger than Ronaldo if fergie does end up buying Ribery, Benzima and valencia ronaldo will quickly be forgotten united have a better squad than real and barca utd lost the champons lge final due to a tactical nightmare from fergie. so as a united fan i have no doubts and confident of a champions lge final and premier league next season.

Most of the comment are from bitter persons who wish they could had just 1 percent of Ronaldo , yes he left Manchester so what , if someone went to you to pay you twice the money you receive now in your job , with the Job comming more near your country with Sun Sea where the people live and enjoy life what would you do? living in cold Britain where there is no sun where people dont live , please before you judge him just think a little if it was you what would be your choice

By Richard.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:30 AM.

Man Utd have to face reality, they not a big a club as Real Madrid amongst others and will be seen as a stepping by most players. Sure they are big in England but for World footbal fans they are outside the top 10.

By Carlos.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:29 AM.

if he is nothing then ignore him. such a shame he could only play for man u. never for country.

By ag.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:26 AM.

Ronaldo has always stated that he wanted to play for Real it's his dream, now he is going to live that dream. I have nothing against what he wants. Footballing talent is everywhere Ronaldo will be replaced.

The bitter Man U fans think of what Ronaldo did for us and be happy for him. I wish Ronaldo every success in Sapin and may he improve as a player and lose the childish attitude.

The none Man U fans that seem to be enjoying the 80 mill move, remember we have a 100 mill to play with now. So if I were you guys I would be very worried as you k ow whoever comes in will be world class.

Man U will be stronger as a team and if I rememeber football is a team game or if you like a squad game now.

By Warren.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:25 AM.

fair play Ron, Barry said last season he want CL footie there he is at Man City. Man Utd should be grateful to him, he made them what they are.

yes, i agree man utd lost a big player, but what people forget is they were a force before he joined and still be after he left. we heard that song b4, how will they do without ronaldo? without becks? without contona? without van the man? and so on. i tell you: we are not a one man team. trust the most decorated manager in football and i bet he will lift the prem league trophy next may. when utd lose fergie then they,ll have a problem.

By brahim.. Posted June 14 2009 at 10:13 AM.

Man u got a lot out of him, he was always going to leave, why not get 80million now! I will defenitely be watching Madrid vs barce next season. Kaka ronaldo messi henry eto xavi initsta. Awesome

By Lorenzo.. Posted June 14 2009 at 11:08 AM.

i think all we need to do is look forward to the next seasons...as time and time again, Sir Alex has proved he's always 1 step ahead of the rest, Cantona left, everyone said no1 can take his place, along came beckham and the football style changed, then He left and again everyone said no1 can replace him and Utd's going down, but then came CR7 and the rest is history...keep faith in the manager, he knows best. He's proved it many times. Big players come and go, that is the nature of football. GoodLuck Cristiano, you deserve the success, the best footballer in decades!

cool now the whole of england hates him , even the man u fans. hes a great player , but hes forgotton how to pass - he cost man u the euro final . if they played berba and rooney up front they would have won. hes can play on the wing anymore as wingers have to pass.

By chris kent.. Posted June 14 2009 at 10:54 AM.

Look, event the richest clubs in (dreary) England can't compete with richest clubs in (sunny) Spain. MUFC have helped make Ronaldo into the player he is today but this is proof that loyalty is no longer a part of the modern day footballer's vocabulary!

By Bringbackthe seventies.. Posted June 14 2009 at 10:01 AM.

Can you imagine all the new skills diving boy will learn when he gets to Madrid? In Manchester they just fall over in front of the ref, now he gets to flip, roll and do the headless chicken!!!

I'm no fan of Manure but without Fergie, this cheat will fall on his @rse

By aj.. Posted June 14 2009 at 9:41 AM.

champions league final man u - barca. united had no midfield with cristiano playing up front thats why they got hammerd and outclassed. sold him for 80 mil but will never going to replace him. then u have to think :how much winning the premiership is worth to utd 80-100mil? maeby more? because mark my words united aint going to win it for a few seasons now. they have got no midfield. they dont need just to replace a player they need to change the whole midfield that was build b4 around Ronaldo.

By george.. Posted June 14 2009 at 9:40 AM.

its time 4 ronaldo to leave, the arrogant mard arse from portugal who thinks he is bigger than any club.
he was at the best club to better himself,he will now only go down.
real madrid can buy all the best players in the world, but getting them to play a good match together is another story.barcalona will still win there league next season,so lets see how ronaldo likes winning nothing now.
i like players who stay on there feet and show strength.not 1s like ronaldo who looks 4 free kicks by going down at slightist touch.no body strength.good ridence.

By naz sultan.. Posted June 14 2009 at 9:49 AM.

All the Man U haters forget how many class players have come and gone during Fergie's reign, and how many of them were called irreplaceable at the time! Ronaldo was brilliant and could do things mere scousers could only dream of with a football but Fergie WILL replace him. No one has mentioned the young Tosic, a raw young talent very reminiscent of a certain Portuguese player only a few years ago. In Sir Alex we trust.

By Graham Bell.. Posted June 14 2009 at 9:55 AM.

By Dave The Devil.. Posted June 14 2009 at 9:11 AM.

United fans are in denial. They know they're in big trouble next season. Just because Giggs and Scholes stayed for life doesn't mean a guy from Portugal should. Things have changed. Why do you thinks Giggs was begging him to stay? they were a one trick pony. And the pony just left town.

By Tim Brown.. Posted June 14 2009 at 8:29 AM.

I am a Man Utd fan, but wanted him to go to further his career. The boy is young and the most high profile player in the world. It can be no fun stuck in dull rainy Manchester when you could be in Madrid. He won all he could in England and it was time to move on. If we are honest then we should admit all we will ever win are premierships...we just can't cut it in Europe...we were lucky against Bayern and had to resort to penalties to beat Chelsea. Barcelona completely outlclased us and Ronaldo knew at the end he had a better future in Spain. Thanks for all you have done Christiano and good luck on the rest of your career. I'm sure you will continue to do well.

By jon.. Posted June 14 2009 at 8:34 AM.

I am a Man u Fan, and im glad ronaldo has left us, i adn the team will miss him but, its time to move on, no can achieve the success as Sir Alex does in his own style, i trust him completely.. if he is happy to see him go ( which the papers suggest ) then im ecstatic to see him go. Although Ronaldo was good i feel personally, messi is leap years ahead of him, and thats why it dint hurt much when Barca won the title in C'league b'cos messi was too good on the nyt. Besides i think This will be blessing in disguise as i feel Rooney can step up to the plate now, for sure. So Man u Fans - Brothers no worries we will Win in a much better way than what we did with Ronaldo ( the Ugly Face :-) ( this is for his dishonesty )) in the team,

By ashwin.. Posted June 14 2009 at 8:03 AM.

many people in england turned on cristiano after the rooney incident at the 2006 world cup. i mean people expected him to do england a favour by going to the ref and say rooney didnt stomp on that gut's gonads, or reasonably stay away from the whole incident. lets not forget ronaldo was representing his country and he was going to do all he can so portugal could go through to the semi's. and if you look closely at the incident, ronaldo went straight to the referee with his hands down, and it was rooney that went agro and pushed ronaldo telling him to f-off right in front of the referee which is another bookable offence. when ronaldo got back to utd majority of the country turned on him especially the media. however because of his talent and athletism, he won back many hearts. fergusson tried to protect him because he was the best player he has ever had, forget the cantonas, and beckhams. ronaldo single handedly won man utd all their titles since, he scored 42 goals in 49 matches, only one person has topped that that in the top flight and that was brazilian ronaldo who scored 47 goals in 49 games at barcelona in 1996. fergusson knows he has lost a very big player. all these valencias, tevezes, rooneys and ribery wont be able to fill in that gap because they are all overrated. Next season is going to a lot closer, if liverpool, chelsea and aresenal dont get too cocky thinking man utd dont have chance.

By terry t.. Posted June 14 2009 at 7:51 AM.

ronaldo is just a product of todays overpaid idiots if he had any guts he,d go back to lisbon

By rex hadley .. Posted June 14 2009 at 7:50 AM.

The unmitigated arrogance of this man is simply amusing to behold. He has clearly never heard of the maxim "Pride comes before a fall".
My Mother had an even more appropriate caveat for him ... "Self Praise is No praise". (One's virtues and abilities are best left to be honoured and praised by others who are less biased in their assessment of them.)
In any case, let's get real here - the guy merely kicks a football about. He's not skilled in open heart surgery or anything else that would be of any real benefit to his fellow human beings.
As for bragging about his £80 million, it is utterly meaningless. McCartney had £700 million, but when Linda contracted cancer he was, just like the poorest pauper on earth, unable to do a damn thing about it.
Sadly, Ronaldo has much to learn.

By Trevor.. Posted June 14 2009 at 7:38 AM.

The only reason he is leaving is for a better lifestyle. Why not have a mansion on the beach instead of the countryside. Why not play in 15'C instead of -5'C in January. And why not get as much money as you can. Any man or woman in the world who was offered a new job but they would double your money would jump at the chance. You should be thanking Ronaldo and whishing him all the best.

I have read all the comments here and while true, most Man Utd fans have turned on or are glad to see him go. I for one am only glad to see the back of him for off-the-field reasons, the I love Man Utd/I want to play for Real stories which he never put an end to. He is a total coward, he would only talk about leaving when he was miles away from ferguson as he could not face him and tell him he wanted to go, on-the-field there is no-one better and I will miss him every time we play. The person I feel for is Ferguson, he treated him like a son and gave him more attention and portection than any other player at Utd and this is how he is repaid. He will not change Real, there are too many heads there and he will just be ONE of them, personally I would prefer Kaka.

People that hate him are just bitter.
Is just pure envy..
Ronaldo is king
rooney who?

By calossantos.. Posted June 14 2009 at 6:55 AM.

My goodness man utd fans are a fickle bunch. Last season was drifting along pretty aimlessly at the start when Ronaldo was injured but when he comes back he practically repeats what he achieved the previous year. How can their fans possibly think the team will be better off without what was unquestionably their best player? - Rooney has never shown consistently high levels of play throughout a season and the likes of Valencia are pretty ordinary really.

By zelda.. Posted June 14 2009 at 6:50 AM.

A hugely talented player - yes!
But his attitude, his loyalty and his cheatin means he will never be held in the same light as 'King Eric'. Now there was a man that had influence all over the pitch, throughout the team and the club, and even throughout the game in general. Thats what makes a legend. Not just goals and a bit of silverware. You need charisma and class, and Cantona oozed it!

By Stuart Sibbald.. Posted June 14 2009 at 6:42 AM.

Ronny carried man u by himself, so he owes them NOTHING!!!...just watch the rot set in now, at OT..

By jack arnold.. Posted June 14 2009 at 5:47 AM.

It was great to see him play for UTD and achieve so much with a great football team. There is no I in team, he will be replaced with talent, there is no doubt about that, so get in line and watch this space. Lets not lose sight of the fact that UTD are not only premiership champions but also world club champions, something of which Ronaldo helped to achieve. A great season and one that will be remembered for how close them kopites came to winning it. This is how it feels to be small, scousers.

I'm laughing so hard at bitter Man utd fans who have turned on Ronaldo after the boy all but won you a European cup the other year with what 42 goals in a year, Best, Cantona and co never got anywhere near that sort of return for your club and yet already Man Utd fans are trying to make out he was nothing special, if that is so then Best and co are third rate players because Ronaldo is better than any of them.

By raul.. Posted June 14 2009 at 4:21 AM.

Most over-rated player in the history of the game, he is not fit to wash Pele's jock strap!

Get used to watching bthat dummy hit the turf as he implodes into a vacuum of hair gel and orange tan creme!

Arsenal Fan here -Have seen a lot of players leave united and Fergie rarely lets a player go who goes on to enjoy greater success. Personally im glad to see him go - had a habit of scoring against us, but i fear as to who fergie will bring in for the 80m!

By Stuart Benzie.. Posted June 14 2009 at 3:06 AM.

what can i say i am a gunner but say what you like about him he delivered time and time again for united but for me i got the impression even though he was banging in goals left right and centre that his heart was not truly with united i thought he would go sooner or later but the added feature with ronaldo is he thinks he is bigger than the club fergie proved it when he sold becks i felt ronaldo was arrogant seilfish and was in it for him self no one else counted he is full of himself and i could see him disrespecting fergie something cantona becks and keane did not do ronaldo knows hes worth and probably has no time for loyalty or to kiss the shirt united was just a stepping stone for him dont know why united are a major club wonder if he will peform for real he ls like a rat deserting a sinking ship not that man u are sinking he just sticks his two fingers to everyone and moves on such is foot ball

By jade.. Posted June 14 2009 at 2:51 AM.

Dont you just love all of the Man U fans that are writing how they are glad to see the back of him, his a bad guy, etc... I cant wait to see what they say when they see how spinless there midfield is next season missing the best player in the world. Its such the english attidue to like what you have and pick on everything else.
Say no more.

By Joey.. Posted June 14 2009 at 2:37 AM.

How many people have affection for their employers? Not many. For Ronaldo, United was a job. When you feel you should move, you should move. United will find someone else - they always do!

By Paul.. Posted June 14 2009 at 2:29 AM.

Well done Ronnie. The only ones who hate you now are the ManUre fans. The rest of us are beginning to like you more. Don't worry about it, for every prayer against you, there'll be 10 times more prayers for you now. You have become more adorable, admired, loved and respected.

By Rajoo.. Posted June 14 2009 at 1:41 AM.

he said all this b4 he left man u and there's no reference to him not caring what the man u fans would think if he left. this is just another example of biased journalism trying to make him look bad. i for one will miss him next year - and im an everton fan!

By john.. Posted June 14 2009 at 1:23 AM.

Good riddance to a player with no gratitude, no class, no sense of loyalty, no understanding of what is the truth and what is a barefaced lie.

His future will certainly go downhill as with the other mega stars at Real MADrid he will just be another player.

I applaud United's fans for forgiving him for his 'winking' when he alone was instrumental in getting a team mate sent off in the world cup, which happily the winker did not get to gloat about as Portugal did not win the final, in which he played like a ten year old kid.

He only won the trophies he did because of his team mates at Manchester United. In the final analysis what would his goals have meant had there not been a defence second to none? He missed a vital penalty in the Champions League final in Moscow, thank heavens Chelsea could not take advantage of that shocking miss.

No Ronaldo is not a great player but he did play in a great team with great team mates who fed his ego and boosted his goals tally.

His bomastic attitude, ego and disrespect will be his downfall in Spain, mark my words.

Who gives a monkeys, he's gone now, 80mill in the kitty. Good business. Football is not about personality anyway.

love it christiano ynwa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

By jonnyg6666.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:43 AM.

look at ronaldinho, he had all the talent in the world, but let the playboy life style get in the way, Now he just sits on milans bench! Same will happen to CR7, if he carries on the way he is.

By g-man.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:40 AM.

I could see Christiano become a full time playboy rather than a superstar. He will not be the same again simply at united their was Fergie who knows how to develop and look afte a player. Christiano will definitely goes down especially as he has been lying I will pray God everyday to punish him as he said on TV that he will remain a united player. Christiano will only win one season silverware at real but Barcelona will always be the cham in Spain and messi simply the best and not christiano ronaldo as the fianl proved it. Christiano is simply show off, arogant and money minded. One things christiano should remember everyday that money buys material but not happiness and good health as well faith in God. I also believed that when christiano will see him dip in form and not the same as in united days , he will beg fergie to come back to un ited and help him. Then fergie has to boot him out again. well done fergie you are genuine and will be champ again next season and european king again.

By raj.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:09 AM.

Maybe now United fans can see Ronaldo as everyone else sees him.

By theo.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:10 AM.

no matter how much the utd fans write in and say good riddance they still would rather have him in there team than playing against them, remember it was the players who asked fergie to buy him wen he tore them apart whilst playing for sporting and he was a rough diamond then should be interesting next season if utd draw real

By pinna..villa fan.. Posted June 13 2009 at 11:50 PM.

i'm starting to like Ronaldo! we all hate man utd fans aswell cristiano.

By Gambino.. Posted June 14 2009 at 12:06 AM.

What if your team-mates start to hate you?

By Leonard.. Posted June 13 2009 at 11:43 PM.

you will never be a united legend... simply a child

By tim.. Posted June 13 2009 at 11:20 PM.
