They are furious the Chelsea midfielder failed to show for two friendlies.Mikel and Everton defender Joseph Yobo claimed they did not have the right visa to face France or the Republic of Ireland two weeks ago.
They were both left out of last weekend's qualifier against Kenya. And Mikel, 22, was hit by plastic bottles of urine as he watched the game from the VIP stand, sitting alongside Yobo.
The Nigerian FA are set to take more severe action against Mikel than Yobo for his recent no-shows.

It's about time we abolished International football. It seems to bring out the worst in fans and players alike. And whats even worse it feeds the coffers and egos of the leeches, the Blatters, Platini's and other corrupt maggots.
We want transparency, we want the 4th official armed with the best technology available, we want goal line technologies, we want officials accountable for their decisions but empowered to be capable of making the right decisions.

well its really intreting to see what some people are writing here, cant belive someone will say nigeria do not need mikel and yobo in the national team. wel i think u should think again. when u have sodje as the replacement for yobo and olofinjana in the middle . well i think non of the above players can play at the respective clubs of the two players . olofinjana cant even start games with stock and sodje plays in the third divition. well for nigeria to do anything at the world cup we need all our best players and mikel and yobo fall into that category. they miss a stupid friendly and u want to crusify them . dnt forget that they are players taht live in london and if u want to take action against someone it should be taiwo who live in france and did not show up . he live 2 hrs from saint ettien and did not play against france

No. This as nothin to do with Nigeria's Image. Mikel is the one at fault. Time and time again, he has failed to show up when his country needs him. Remember last year @ the Olympic, where the h### was he, when Nigeria had a solid team and a solid Coach in Siasia, when they nearly beat Argentina.
Even in London, Mikel does stupid things like getting drunk hours before the game. I am fed with this kid. needs to grow up. before its to late.
Sometimes you've got to ask yourself what can u do for your country not what your country can do for you.

this guy Farradin is just saying things for his own selfish desier,we are talking about Nigeria here not Chelsea and Man United ok.mikel make the right decision to joined chelsea so if you are a man united fan i am sorry mikel will never play for your team, you like it or not.Mikel and Yobo had their reasons why they miss the three games, they told every one what was the problem, but we african refuse to understand each other why?those guys are very important in the super eagle squad.

Rebranding of Nigeria will take more then a century. It is only political campain. That Mikel did not play two friendlies with genuine reason does not make him unserious player or umpatriotic. Coaches of Nigeria should really mind how they present the image of the players to the public. Siasia, though good coach, presented Mikel wrongly to the entire world. Shuibu Amodu is toeing the same way again. I have a fear that if the coach cuold not tell the fans and public that these guys hv reasons Nigeria will likely loose some players.
God forbid anything bad will happen to Mikel. Nigerian coaches, fans, government, take good care of your players. Atleast say something good about them unless you does not want them to visit your country. You don't hv good security, please, please and please, I love to watch these guys play games with relaxed mind not with fear of the fans.

How can some people say that a team, or a country for that matter needs anybody? That's why some teams don't do well. These two guys were missing for 3 games, and still the country/team didn't lose any of the 3 games, in fact they won 2 and drew one. They were not missed at all, so for discipline and team effort to reign they should keep faith with the guys who replaced them. What have they won for the country anyway? I saw them at the last cup of nations, and they were rubbish to say the least. Nigeria have a lot of footballers, and for them to do well they need to do away with players who are not disciplined, just like their various clubs do. Nobody is indispensable.

Damn right we should forgive him, for all we know he could be looking after his whole family financially, so what he didn't make a friendly. It's not like he was at home playing playstation he went all the way over there to watch, on his own dime might I add!

mikel is just a complete disgrace, with his attitude chelsea is too big for him.
just for money he left man u and end in london life for money grabing in chelsea. he regret leaving man u for the rest of his football career. after mikel, man u have sign players like, carrick, anderson, owen hagreaves and nani which all have 2 to 3 premier league cups, 1 champions league cup n play in two final champs lge, and trophies. i will be happy to see him not play for NIGERIA again, if Amadu the Nigeria Coach can be brave to do it.

World cup is a different ball game entirely, we need the experience of Yobo and Mikel, full credit to the guys who came in for them in those 2 games, but we can't compare them with Yobo and Mikel who are world class in their respective positions.

I guess we all forgive him cos we still need him.
