STEWART DOWNING LOAN HOPE

Crocked England winger needs help from Middlesbrough

STEWART DOWNING wants Middlesbrough to grant him a year's loan - to revive his hopes of a move to Liverpool or Spurs.

The winger faces six months out with a foot injury, wrecking chances of a summer switch. He will hold talks with Boro this week in a bid to agree a compromise.

Boro could get Downing off their wage bill while he is recovering and allow him out on loan, with a view to a £12million permanent deal next summer.

Spurs had a bid rejected for Downing, 24, last January and Kop boss Rafa Benitez has also revived his long-term interest in the England international.

What is the point of loaning out a top flight player when he can be used to help his own team get out of the Championship.

If there is to be a kac handed deal then it will be with Utd envolving G Nev & or P Scholes.

Sounds pretty plausible.

Teams often get players in on loan who are injured and pay their wages until they´re fit.
