Barca keeper's pay demand sparks Manchester United interest
MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping an eye on Barcelona's Victor Valdes after his contract talks broke down.
The Catalan keeper's deal runs out at the end of next season - and he wants parity with the Spanish club's top out-field stars.
United have tracked Valdes all season but expected his contract to be settled after his end-of-season heroics in the Champions League. But Barca have been stunned by the 27-year-old's £7.6million pay demands.
President Joan Laporta said: "We have a wage structure and we are not planning to change it.
"We were surprised to hear what the player wanted. I'd like to think he is aware of what his agent has asked for."
United had turned their attentions to Villarreal keeper Diego Lopez but could now refocus on the Barca man.

as a Man United Supporter I Think that Sir Alexs Ferguson should buy Antonia Valencia of Wigan and David Silva and Also Sir Alexs Ferguson should buy Torres of Liverpool and Samuel Eto of Barcelona and sir Alexs Ferguson should Buy Benzema and also Steven Gerrard of Liverpool and also Buy Fellaini of Everton and Steven Piernaar of Everton and buy Cahill of Everton as well and Buy Dirk kuyt of Liverpool as well and I think that we should buy Klass Jan Hunterlaar as well and a Few good Strikers as well and a Few good Midfielders as well and a Few good Centre Forwards that have pace and can beat any Premiership league Defence and Score Goals . Come on Fergie lets get the Cheque book out and get these Players signed for Our Man United Team for The new Premiership league Season .

barca supposedly had the worst defense and goal keeper but still ended up conceding the least goals. Valdes is a good shot stopper, he does have howlers, but tell me one goalkeepers who dosent make mistakes

Valdes won't get anywhere near Old Trafford. He's an average goalkeeper at best and the weakest link in the Barca side. If he wasn't a Catalan then I doubt he'd be in their first team, never mind United's.
