GOAL-KING RONALDO WILL BE MISSED

Striker scored more than a quarter of United's League goals

RONALDO will undoubtedly be a huge loss to Manchester United - but the statistics reveal just what a massive hole his £80million exit to Real Madrid will leave at Old Trafford.

The controversial Portuguese striker has an incredible goals record at Old Trafford - in the last three seasons he is responsible for 28 per cent of all United's Premier League goals.

He has also been in the top two of the Premier League's goalscorers in all those seasons and averages a goal every game and a half.

United boss Alex Ferguson now has the unenviable task of finding a replacement.

Ronaldo will now line up alongside Kaka, who cost the Spanish giants a mere £56million from AC Milan.

Based on last season's statistics, both players were very influential for their teams. In 33 League appearances, Ronaldo scored 18 goals, compared to Kaka's 16 from 31 games.

Ronaldo also had a greater shooting accuracy - 53 per cent compared to 51 per cent - but the Brazilian had the better conversion rate, netting 20 per cent of his chances compared to 17 per cent by the United man.

The Portuguese striker netted four direct free-kicks last season, while Kaka did not score any, and also had more shots (107 compared to 81) and more attempts on target (57 compared to 41).

But Kaka is more of a team player, with nine goal assists compared to Ronaldo's six. He also had a greater pass completion (86 per cent compared to 82), while his cross completion was more accurate at 29 per cent compared to Ronaldo's 16 per cent.

But if Ronaldo and Kaka contribute last season's combined tally of 34 goals to the Real Madrid cause they will go a long way to wresting the Spanish League crown from champions Barcelona - and a huge way to paying off those massive transfer fees.
