And he's told them to remember how Terry - who missed a penalty to win last year's final against United - bounced back to score against USA in his very next game.

England face Kazakhstan in Saturday's crucial World Cup qualifier and Capello said: "That's what I want from my United players - I hope they will have the same reaction as John Terry.

"I was so impressed with him. I thought even more of him after that. He is such a winner, such a fighter, such a competitor."

Capello has suffered his own European Cup agony. He said: "I played and managed in four finals and won only once. But, afterwards, you just have to forget all about it. You have to look to the future.

WAYNE ROONEY - important

"This is football and it's normal that you win big games and you lose big games. And that's what I expect from my players. We go to Kazakhstan to win because this is a very important game.

"If we get six points against Kazakhstan and Andorra that will be a very big step towards South Africa. We would just need three more points to be sure."

Capello is sure his United boys will bounce back from their final flop. He said: "In Rome, United played 10 minutes like United, then afterwards . . .

"Wayne Rooney was great in the semi-final but in Rome it was incredible, he was nervous and he lost a lot of easy passes.

"But he's no problem for me. He is a very important player for us and I am sure he will show that again."
