Brough, who was suspended for a breach of club discipline, bagged 18 points as the Crusaders wilted in the sun.
It was Wakefield's first win in four games - but the Super League new-boys are in danger of being cast adrift at the foot of the table.
Wildcasts coach John Kear said: "It was a real team performance. We grew in confidence and could have scored even more tries. We needed this win to get things rolling again. We can kick on from here."
In a game rearranged following the death of Wakefield reserve Leon Walker in March, the Crusaders were blown away by half-time as they trailed by 30 unanswered points.
Ryan Atkins, Michael Korkidas and Scott Grix crashed over early on to set up the win.
Brough collected an interception to race over from 70 metres before Brad Drew's try rubbed salt into the wounds on the stroke of half-time.
It was one-way traffic after the break as Jamie Rooney's double piled on the misery for the dismal hosts.
Wakefield weren't done there as Steve Snitch and Drew ended the visitors' four-game losing run in style with David Tangata-Toa's late touchdown scant consolation for the Welsh hosts.
Celtic Crusaders: Try: Tangata-Toa. Goal: Hannay.
Wakefield: Tries: Atkins, Korkidas, Grix, Brough, Drew 2, Rooney 2, Snitch. Goals: Brough 7.
