ARSENE WENGER TOUGHS IT OUT

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
GUNNER GRIEF - the season has held highs and lows for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Arsenal boss stands up for his side

ARSENE WENGER has played down the disappointment of another season without silverware and insisted: "We've been so tough."

Arsenal's title challenge never left the ground with five defeats before the end of November - but a 21-match unbeaten run then put the Gunners back into the top four.

And boss Wenger said: "People think it is a disaster to get to the semi-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup, while finishing fourth.

"If that is a disaster, then the future of the club is promising. I believe in the mental strength and the quality of this team."

Wenger feels left-back Kieran Gibbs, 19, has been sensational. He said: "Gibbs will play for England soon."

STOKE boss Tony Pulis will be handed £35million to defy the doubters again next season.

Pulis sits down with Potters chairman Peter Coates this week to outline his summer spending plans.

And he is due to get a pot of gold that includes this season's prize money and next term's TV cash.

Cardiff's £6million-rated midfielder Joe Ledley will be top of his hit-list.

Pulis, 51, said: "I will be looking for anyone who is available that we think is better than anything we have already got.''

"If you want to see football played at is most elegant best don't buy a season ticket for the Britannia".......but if you want to see a team play week in, week out with genuine pride and passion for their club and be a part of the best band of supporters in the country bar none, beat down the ticket office door to get one.

When will Wenger ever learn? Only yesterday he was spouting on about the need for everyone at Arsenal to shut up and stop talking to the press.

It is time for you to shut up too Wenger. Practice what you preach.
