BACK TO THE BRIDGE - Andriy Shevchenko

ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO looks set for a return to Chelsea.

And that will further fuel speculation that AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is being lined up to become Stamford Bridge boss.

Sheva, 32, on loan at Milan, has been a long-time favourite of the Italian coach - and has one year left on his Chelsea deal.

The Ukraine striker has already joined the exclusive £200,000-a-year Queenwood Golf Club in Surrey, where members include golfer Darren Clarke and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.

many have criticized shevchenko but I think he has gotten to much of it from everyone, he was treated unfairly by jose mourinho who never wanted him in the team, I remember when shevchenko started brightly then had a little slump with a few games not scoring and being really unlucky on a few occasions then scored against portsmouth, jose decided to bench him for the next game claming that it was somebody elses turn to get a chance to play, and ever since shevchenko came to chelsea he was the first one substitued in every game, why was that? Jose blamed shevchenko for things not going good and even left shevchenko and ballack out of some club meetings and gatherings. It is important for a futbol player especially a stricker to have confidence and thats what shevchenko lacked due to mourinho, sheva showed glimpses of greatness but with the rifts with mourinho then unlucky injuries it didint work out. We will see maybe anclelotti will use sheva this year, drogba is suspended for a few champions league games and someone with shevas experience could be very usefull

Max: I think you are unfair to Andriy. He does not need money anymore but is determined to come back and play. He is a living legend in Ukraine football, but you are right about it when you said Roman bought him due to sentimentality. A would not go as far as calling him a new Bogarde, but I guess Chelsea should just try to sell him. Will not get much, but...

hope he improves

Abramovich allowed sentimentality to rule over common sense in buying Shevchenko. Instead of allowing Mourinho to build his squad Roman listened to the yes men around him and was told he knew better. Now he is stuck with Winston Bogarde MarkII. Shevchenko is more interested in improving his golf handicap than winning a football trophy. But he will still pick up his £100k plus per week.
