OPERATION - Ian Poulter

IAN POULTER has set his sights on glory - thanks to an eye operation.

Poulter's vision was so bad four months ago he was struggling to read the greens.

But after having corrective surgery in Orlando, the Brit is back to his best and targeting victory at the Players' Championship.

Poulter, 33, went into the third round at Sawgrass two shots off the lead in second.

He said: "Success here would mean everything after the eye problems I've had for the past few years.

"I was suffering from poor vision at night and it was also deteriorating in light. It wasn't easy to focus and read some of the greens.

"First thing in the morning, if it was very overcast, and also late in the day, I didn't find it that easy to pick out my spots on the greens.

"I've been using contact lenses for nine years. But last year I felt it was time to do something for the long-term. It's been very successful."
