VICTORIA PENDLETON cried tears of joy after dramatically defending her world track sprint title in Poland.

Britain's Olympic champion beat Willy Kanis, of Holland, in the deciding third race in a photo-finish.

Pendleton, 28, said: "This was the hardest title I've ever won."

But Mark Cavendish's bid to defend his madison crown was thwarted as GB team-mate Peter Kennaugh, 19, crashed and the pair limped home sixth.
