TOM DALEY recorded his highest score in competition as he won a bronze medal at the FINA Diving World Series event in China.

The 14-year-old Plymouth diver claimed a notable scalp in his 10 metres platform semi-final, pushing Olympic champion, Aussie Matthew Mitcham, into third.

Daley twice beat his personal best. First a 532.95 in the semis then 540.70 in the final.

He was less than two points behind Qiu Bo but both were left in the shade by local hero Luxin Zhou, who won gold with 560.

Brit pair Nicholas Robinson-Baker and Ben Swain had to settle for fourth in the 3m synchro with Germany pipping them to bronze.
