The Swansea man was sent crashing to the canvas by a booming overhand right. He got up but ref Terry O'Connor halted the bout at 1min 50sec of the round.
Now Maccarinelli will find it hard to re-establish himself with all three of his defeats coming inside the distance.
DAGENHAM'S Nicky Cook lost the WBO super-featherweight title in his first defence when he was stopped after 2min 20sec of round four by undefeated Puerto Rican Rocky Martinez in Manchester.
Cook, 29, who won the title from Scot Alex Arthur six months ago, had been in control until being dropped by a left uppercut.
He rose at nine but almost immediately was down again from a left hook. He groggily clambered up at eight but referee Dave Parris rightly halted the fight.
Martinez had been hurt and looked to be heading for defeat until finding brutal power to silence the big crowd.
