Players turn on Mark Hughes in bust-up over Robinho

MARK HUGHES is facing a players' rebellion as Manchester City's season slumps towards crisis.

And Robinho has been singled out as the main reason for his team-mates' anger.

Several City players held an unofficial meeting this week to discuss their growing resentment towards both Hughes and the Brazilian.

They are upset at some of City's tactics and feel there is one rule for the £34million superstar and another for the rest.

And some of the older players feel they are being sidelined by Hughes.

They believe he wants to surround himself with younger players who will not question his methods or raise questions about tactics, formations and training methods.

One source close to several City stars said: "The players are furious Robinho swans around doing basically what he wants - and the boss lets him get away with it.

"He thinks he's untouchable and Hughes hasn't done anything to show that he's not. Many of the players think he doesn't dig in for the team, that he's injured too often and is picking and choosing his games."

According to some City insiders, Hughes knows Robinho seems to have a hot-line to the club's Arab owners which is why the boss treads carefully around the Brazilian. Our source added: "Hughes is a great one for squad unity but he's making Robinho a special case."

A comment from Sweden. Paul Ash is right. Even if Hughes is a very talented manager, he has never won anything. That´s good enough if you're a championship club or a minor club like Blackburn. But City needs a manager who knows how to win something. At least if they really are that BIG club some people are talking about. But as a football fan I hope they don't get relegated,Roy.

Robinho is suffering the same problem that other great Brazilian players have passed. Robinho left the Santos - Brazil (my team of passion) straight to the booking of Real Madrid and became contaminated by the endless festivals of REAL Madrid. The Robinho has to fall back to the ball and play as the he played in Santos about three years ago, otherwise it is likely he becomes a new Ronaldo ...
I would suggest to Mr. Robinho go to church with KAKA, and pray to God!

Sven should never have been axed, he brought some great results including a double over rivals Man U. Trust that Thai **** to try and have fun with a Prem club, Getting Sparky in was supposed to be a good decision but Hughsey is good for making crap look good i.e Blackburn, but agreed he doesn't have enough experience to gel quality players.......BRING BACK SVEN, BRING BACK SVEN....Robinho..well any player who cries to the president of one of the biggest clubs in the world over his situation is not fit to cope with the trials and tribulations of Prem League action and just a very bad decision from Man City management.

Who but Hughes would play an England Right Back at LEFT back? Who else would play Robinho in a nothing match in Europe and get him injured for the WBA game. Why does the most creative player at the club (Elano) not get picked? Tales of dressing room unrest always surface when a team isn't doing well. But Hughes can't handle stars. His tactics are rubbish as are his substitutions at times. Please explain how Benjani or Vassell get into the side.

City are a joke. Even Abramovich had some kind of long-term plan. You can't just throw money around trying to sign the world's most hyped players and hope they all magically gel into a world class team. Look at TSG Hoffenheim in Germany. That's how you run a club. Robinho and co. will be turning out at places like Milton Keynes next season if they don't sort it out. And I would laugh my tits off. Whilst watching the Bundesliga obviously. A league which hasn't sold it's soul. Scudamore and Sky have created one ugly beast.

Is anyone surprised by Robinho? The main reason he left Real Madrid was that he was not the "Star." He always wanted to be the center of attention. Plus, he wanted to join Chelsea and Big Phil. So stop agreeing with all his stupid statements that he wants to stay with Man C. He always wants to be in the limelight.

Always remember.........money does not always buy you happiness!!

EVERYTHING but the resident Cat has to change at City before they win anything.

Robinho put his finger on it regarding winning mentalities but he should have been slapped around his head for saying it in public.

To move from City-Miders to City Slickers they have to dump the deadwood, and they will need a big skip. Hughes will be right on top of the lot.

I think this Robinho is a problem , no wonder Madrid treated him badly . City isnt my cup of tea but its sad that Hughes is now blamed for all this fuss in the camp , maybe he's too young to handle these so called superstars like Robinho . You need Fergie u spoiled Braziliaz brat .....

If city want to be one of the best team in europe, they need to find top and quality manager not just top player. As time goes by,take a look what position city right now,3th from below.Hughes is good player but not in management.Never won anything as manager. So you need to find new manager.

If this report is true - dont woory as there will be a few more swans to "swan around" with Robinho after January.

City have all the tools to be massive, Great Stadium, Wealth and ambition, however Hughes is not up to a job of this scale. I like Hughes but this is a bridge to far for him, If City want to suceed they need a manager who can win. There are no excuses, Hughes already has a good side even if the Saudis hadnt invested, he has a squad to envy and are much much more capable of finishing in the top half. How amusing it must be to other fans and football fans from around the world to see the worlds richest team being hammered week in week out and struggling to survive in a division they have the power to win. Had Sven stayed it would have been a different story.

As a kid in nappies I remember the Man City League Championship team of Bell Lee and Sumerbee. Since then the club has been more suited to the circus than the football league. Clown after clown running them both in the dug out and the boardroom. Yet they have the most superb fan base. Its the fans I feel for, They deserve a team that will play for them. Get rid of the gutless overpaid duffers and the circus clowns purporting to be running this sorry show.

Robinho would be a really good player in the Blue Square league!

By Boshboy.. Posted December 21 2008 at 9:27 AM.

It would not surprise me if there was resentment towards Robinho. The team look anything but a team on the pitch. The captain (Richard Dunne) has to play a role here. He has to go to Hughes and tell him what the guys think.. It's no use fighting each other. Some of Hughes's tactics and selections have puzzled supporters. Once there is division in the camp that's it. I wonder if our Boys from Brazil know what it's like to fight a relegation battle. I can't believe that it's true that Hughes surrounds himself with young players. If that were the case why does he continue to select the dreadful Vassell and persevere with playing Benjani (when fit)? How come Onouha and Logan never get a chance? If Hughes doesn't turn things round quickly he'll be out. If City carry on playing as we are we'll be relegated at the end of this season.

Agreed,Man city ha ha ha dont know wtf they are doing

By LADZ.. Posted December 21 2008 at 8:57 AM.

ive said it before and ill say it again, robinho is a spoiled brat, he caused trouble a real mardrid, and is now causing trouble for mark hughes....well thanks for saving chelsea from that aggro sparky. But something else i also said was it dont matter how mauch money the arabs throw at city, they wont win anything with sparky at the helm, his idea of tactics is to kick 7 colours out of the opposistion, he isnt cut out for management at the top level.
It wont get any better either. City say they want to sign this player that player blah blah blah...yet in the next breath say they wont pay over the odds for anyone ? well how are you going to pursuade the likes of chelsea man u arsenal; etc etc etc, to sell their top stars ? offering the player vast sums isnt going to work, the player isnt the one holding his registration and if a club dont want to sell they wont sell. Lets not forget clubs like man u chelsea arsenal real madrid etc etc, they are to big to have to sell to survive, it would take an enormous amount of money to get john terry from chelsea for example, especially as he recently signed a new 5 year deal. the same for uniteds ronaldo and arsenals fabregas, so offering what the player is worth wont get the player 25 mill for jt or ronaldo might just buy you their right arm i suppose !
