2009: The year in showbiz...

AS we prepare to put 2008 behind us and welcome in 2009, here are my predictions for what lies in store for the celebs in the New Year . . .

BRITNEY SPEARS

Most likely to . . . ditch her minder dad. Daddy Spears made Brit look like a brat during her recent London trip. He'll be on thin ice if he tries it again during her month-long comeback tour in Blighty in June. And get ready guys, cos she's looking for love.

LILY ALLEN

She'll show the world that binning the booze has been worth it. Lily has put her wild child ways behind her to focus on her music. And judging by the tracks I've heard from her new album, it's been well worth it.

PIXIE GELDOF

The 18-year-old will steal big sister Peaches' party princess crown. Pixie has already bagged my first CelebXS MASHTA award nomination for her all-night partying.

RHYS IFANS

He won't be far behind Pixie and may also be in line for a MASHTA. He kicks photographers, dates women out of his league and loves to drink for days. A gong could just have his name on it.

NADINE COYLE

She'll likely fly the Girls Aloud nest and go solo. Like Woolworths, Girls Aloud will not be around forever. But unlike Woolworths, Nadine has a plan. I expect to hear some very funky solo tunes coming from the Irish singer in 2009.

KANYE WEST

May well become Barack Obama's tailor. The rapper already has his own clothing line and has declared he wants to design for the new American President.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS

He WILL rejoin his old pals in former boy band TAKE THAT in a blaze of publicity. I've spent the last three years trying to erase the memory of Rudebox, so I can't wait to see Robbie using a Take That Wembley reunion to push his amazing album in the autumn. Not in the bag yet, but looks likely.

JAMIE HINCE

Watch him carry on trying to shed his image as the boring man's PETE DOHERTY. When Kate Moss started dating him, everyone thought he was another bad boy rocker like her ex Pete. Not so.
