OASIS split because NOEL GALLAGHER never forgave brother LIAM for jokingly suggesting he was not the real dad of daughter ANAIS.
Noel flew at his brother after the comment about nine-year-old Anais - his daughter by ex-wife Meg Matthews.
Liam insisted it was meant as a joke, but Noel could never forget the insult, calling it "unforgivable".
On the band's website, Noel blamed "verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family and comrades" as his reason for quitting.
And he thanked fans for giving him "glorious memories" and added: "It's been a f***ing pleasure."
An insider said of Liam's joke: "It was a dumb thing to say. They had a big fight when he made the gag. Noel went for him. He was in a blind fury. And he still hasn't calmed down."
The pair never managed to patch things up after the row - and Liam has never even met Noel's one-year-old son Donovan by girlfriend Sara MacDonald. Tensions built up during their recent world tour until a bust-up in Pairs led to Noel finally quitting band on Friday.
Now the warring brothers are set to fight each other again in the charts. Liam has been secretly recording tracks and already has songs ready to hit shops.
He knows it'll take Noel, 42, months to record his much-anticipated debut solo album. Liam, 36, reckons his effort will be so good it will destroy Noel's boast that he was the creative force in Oasis.
Liam told a friend: "If Noel thinks he can just walk away from me and the band then I will obliterate him. He'll be begging to rejoin my band."
Oasis's split was the big talking point at Reading. La Roux singer Elly Jackson said: "If I was Noel, I'd be a bit p****d off really. He wrote all the songs. Liam's just got an annoying voice."

I can't find anything recent on this. I say they are not split for real. we'll see. it is also cheesebag to hate a rock band. you either like em or they don't do it for you- or you have a head problem (ie jealousy) there is no band since that tops their original records. nothing. name a band. just so i can have a private laugh. snow patrol? franz ferdinand? modest mouse? yeah yeah yeahs, ok go? hot hot heat, dime a dozen bands...name one. radiohead great band for ok and bends- nothing after that but bleeps and blurps, terrible live... who? name one, postal service, kaiser chiefs, bloc party, queens of the stone age, jet, killers, kings of leon, libertines, who? those are dime a dozen indie bands. oasis is not an indie band. oasis is rock all the way. long live oasis. still the best live act out there if they choose to play to the millions of adoring lifelong fans they have worldwide.

This band was overrated. I'm glad for fans if they like their music, but please don't say they are a milestone in the history of music, the new Beatles or something else. They were just a good band, like many others.

hahaha the hatters make me laugh have u ever heard of the beatles the biggest band thats ever walked the planet now whos the most like the beatles errrrrrrrr oasis first off some songs sound the same buy the singles b sides are better than most bands can release also anoying voice have u ever sung cause i no i have on stage and sounding like richard ashcroft is easy for me but LIAM never. know the only facts for negativity are if liam played the guitar live and shouted less then they would be better than the beatles. but i hope they get back together

sad days. one of the most influential bands of the last two decades with 2 of the best rockalbums of all time(and 2 other pretty, pretty good one-last one and be here now) died with a crash(for a while;)).
so many new bands got their inspiration from them. the hives, arctic monkeys, brmc, kasabian.....so many people stood arm in arm at their concerts to celebrate a part of their youth.
and for the oasis slashers: i REALLY dont think thatla roux, radiohead(no, they were not influential, they tried it, but you cannot infect younger bands with "so called" difficult music with which bands like can or neu! did 1000 times better with more diversity).
no la roux will be remebered in 18 years. not a bloc party(they are almost forgotten right now).
oasis was a band with a strong influence by the best rockmusic of the 60s to the 80s and made a fantastic shake out of it. catchy as hell and pretty damn good looking(charisma-wise). if you as abnd created so many catchy and diverse songs(its just rubbish to call them "always sound the same"...every band which is unique/successful, has their own sound, or call them beatles-rip offs...its rubbish...listen to them) like live forever, slide away, supersonic, wonderwall, back in anger, supernova, some might say, know what i mean, stand by me, go let it out, stop cryin your heart out, little by little, songbird, lyla, the importance of being idle,s hock of the lightning or falling down, you can be sure you have reached the peoples hearts and will be remembered for alooong, looong time over generations.

I'm so happy to hear Noel is bringing out a solo album. He has always been the brains behind Oasis and it's just a joke too far in what Liam had said. It's a real shame they broke up but I know what it's like working with someone you hate. Can't wait to hear Noel solo stuff aswell as Liam's

well just shows how much you know cp. they will be missed a lot by millions of fans, most of you haters probley stand there listerning to music by artists that voices have been enhanced by computers to try and make them sound better, lots of groups and artists these days have only been around for a year or 2 tops, their music is all the same so people get bored of it, oasis has been going since the 90's how many groups can say they have been round that long, and singley liam and noel will be around for many more years to come with the fans enjoying their music like they always have done.............

I went to an Oasis concert in Germany a few years ago and it was by far the worst show I've ever seen. There was no interaction with the crowd and at one point one of them (I can't even remember which one - that's how unmemorable it was) even wandered off stage in the middle of a song and didn't bother coming back. They sounded okay, but staying home and listening to a CD would have been just as much fun! I don't think they'll be missed as much as they might like to think!

I cant quite believe it, the band that saved music from the drudgery of the 80's and firmly put on the map Manchester as a happening creative place.
Cant these two just have a scrap like other brothers?
The best band is no more and as a fellow Manc, Oasis were and are, a backing track to my life through my early/late teens and right upto my early 30's.
I hope they can work it out but Ive a feeling they are both two pig headed to do so.

you really have to laugh at some people, i mean come on how can people say oasis are crap.they have been playing for years had loads of albums and all there concerts have always been a total sell out, how many of u haters have actually recorded a song, so what if people dont like their attitudes its just the way they are.....if it wasnt for noel leaving oasis would go on for many years to come with millions of devoted fans all over the world, and im one of them, oasis are brilliant ......live forever

responding to Nikki, in all fairness, this guy's written some killer stuff. He freed a whole generation from thinking that "all the good stuff had already been done" mostly on the force of his own self belief. Try writing something that ten thousand people can sing together or sing to themselves in their cars...like it or not, he does it..

I don't particularly like alot of Oasis stuff, but to call them a 'one trick pony' is an understatement to say the least. Even if you don't like their music, you should be able to appreciate their combined talents and that they were/are a huge inspiration to younger bands - Kasabian for one.

At last. It's about time one of them said something worth listening to. Whenever i hear an Oasis song i'm always flabbergasted at how they managed to get to where they did, their lyrics could've been written by a five year old. Their motto must have been "it doesn't matter how crap the song is, just make sure it rhymes."

The only reason oasis got as far as they did... was riding on the back of the fact that their so called loyal fans were prepared to accept the arrogance that was seeping out of their pours. Who the hell did they think they were. People who forget where they came from and think that we all should be thankful they are there? How arrogant is that . Liam was the Andrew Ridgley of the mid 90's, riding on his brothers talent as the most influential song writer of a generation. Liam should join Ridgley surfing in cornwall his voice has become a dreary droan of forgettable songs. Noel you should of quit ten years ago.
