Furious judges warn show bully he's on thin ice
FURIOUS X Factor judges are ready to boot out volatile Danyl Johnson after he threw an almighty wobbler this week.
The bisexual drama teacher was branded "completely unprofessional" for storming out of rehearsals after refusing to sing the song given to him.
He had already earned a reputation for bullying, mood swings and throwing tantrums.
But this week's diva-style strop horrified Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue - and they've had enough of him.
Danyl is tipped to be in the bottom two tonight - which would allow the judges to get rid of him.
An X Factor source revealed: "They have to judge Danyl's performance in the sing-off, but they can't totally overlook how he's acted this week.
"They're looking for an international pop star and he's proved he can't handle the pressure and doesn't have the personality to deal with tricky situations.
"Louis and Cheryl were starting to warm to Danyl but it's back to square one now. They think he's acted in a completely unprofessional manner. You don't see Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis storming out of practice. The judges think it's incredibly childish.
"He's acting like a spoilt brat, even though they've given him an amazing opportunity.
"It's hard for them to completely block out all the stories they're hearing. All the other contestants, who are younger than him, are managing so it's not good that he's not."
It was on Tuesday that Danyl, 27, was given Praying For Time as his song for this weekend's George Michael/Wham! theme.
The next day he flounced out of rehearsals because he was unhappy with the choice, yelling at staff, including vocal coach Yvie Burnett.
Danyl also reportedly clashed with rival Olly Murs this week over his popularity with fans.
His mentor and fourth judge Simon Cowell read the riot act to Danyl during late night crisis talks. But on Thursday he was allowed to change his song to Careless Whisper.
Our insider added: "Simon is very disappointed in Danyl. He's had so much support over the course of the competition.
"Through everything, Simon has always backed him and stayed loyal but his patience has been severely tested this time. He knows Danyl has a good chance of going tonight and knows a lot of people will think it's his own fault."
Show insiders believe Louis and Cheryl are likely to vote against him if he is in a sing-off with struggling 16- year-old Lloyd Daniels. Cowell would vote for his act, Danyl, leaving Dannii with the swing vote. A source said: "Simon has made it clear to the other judges that they have to judge the sing-off based on that night's performance.
"But Danyl is starting at a disadvantage. Cheryl would never get rid of her own act to save him and Louis has serious reservations."
Both Louis and Cheryl have been critical of Danyl's arrogance over the course of the series.
In an interview with the News of the World during the first week of the live finals, Louis said: "Danyl is vile. He's everything I don't like. As far as I'm concerned Danyl is arrogant and over-confident."
Later, during a live show, he told him: "You are the most overconfident person in the competition. You don't have the likeability factor."
Cheryl has also been highly critical, telling Danyl: "You just don't do it for me." She has also said: "There is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. You need to rein it in."
Show bosses believe Danyl's bad behaviour is due to his fears he is for the chop. Our source said: "He's in some type of turmoil. He knows he's made himself unpopular and he doesn't know how to change it.
"He's been paranoid about facing the judges but much more worried about the result. Leaving the show is his worst nightmare and he can see it becoming a reality."
Grief
Danyl's attitude has also hit the morale of the other five remaining acts - bookies' favourite Olly, Lloyd, Joe McElderry, Stacey Solomon and Jedward, brothers John and Edward Grimes.
An X Factor insider told us: "This is bringing everyone down. Tensions are already high enough but it's not right for one contestant to take so much attention. "Danyl has changed his song two weeks in a row now and that means he needs a lot more work from support staff like Brian Friedman. It's not fair. Everyone on the show usually believes in Simon's decisions so in a way it's quite offensive that he doesn't."
Simon will remain publicly loyal to Danyl because he wants to hold on both of his acts in the Overs category for another week, but behind the scenes he has conceded it is highly unlikely Danyl can win.
Another insider revealed: "Simon doesn't want to lose face by losing Danyl this week. That would leave Cheryl with two acts - one more than him - and he couldn't handle the indignity of that. So he's going to stay very upbeat about Danyl and hopes the others judge him on his vocal performance. But he's realistic about the long term.
"Why would he want to work with an artist who's already caused him this much grief? Imagine what Danyl could be like with a million pound record deal and No1 single under his belt.
"He could become a real diva. They're not the sorts of people Simon likes to worth with."
But bosses are concerned how Danyl will cope if he does lose out. A source said: "He's been on the edge at moments this week. Everyone hopes if Danyl does leave that he's able to cope.
"If not things could get very ugly. He truly believes he should be the winner of this show and exiting under these circumstances will be difficult for him to take."

Reading all these comments I think Simon has really missed a trick. Of those left Danyl is possibly one of the most talented but he is also just annoying, generally. Olly is boring, Stacey and Joe are both wonderful but just not DIFFERENT enough. We have been spoilt a little with Leona and, to a lesser extent, Alexandra. I think the only contestent who could have made a similar splash has already gone. He was resolutely himself, he was different and he was an utterly natural performer. But you got the feeling he was not really Simon's cup of tea - hence all the inappropriate songs etc. A shame, Jamie Afro was like a breath of fresh air on that show and I would have loved to see him belt out a ROCK Christmas number one! That said, hopefully the show has given him the impetus he needed to keep the momentum going. I don't think he would have been that happy in Wham week!

Danyl is irritating. He cannot sing as well as he thinks he can - his performance on Saturday night was flat and out of tune. He should have left the competition weeks ago when he was in the bottom 2 with Miss Frank. Danyl knows exactly what he's doing - he throws these diva-style tantrums backstage, walks out on producers and coaches, shouts and screams when he doesn't get his own way, but then pretends to the viewers at home he's "Mr Nice Guy, not smug or arrogant at all". We saw the true Danyl on the very first audition - smug, cocky, over-the-top, way too over-confident and irritating as hell. No matter how many times Simon tries to tell Danyl to tone it down, his arrogance and smugness still seeps through. He is vile. Danyl to go.

I cannot stand Danyl. He RUINED "Careless Whispers", one of my all time favorites. I remember on live show 1 how Simon told Joe it was great how he kept the melody in Robbie's song. Well what about George Michael's song - "Careless Whispers"? It is also is very melodic and that is what is so remarkable about it. That, and the fact that GM was 16 years old when he wrote it. Simon said last night that Danyl "respected" the song...nah, he butchered it. Instead of lovely and melodic he made it linear plus his voice was nasally and flat most of the way through. Respected? Not at all. Please don't vote for him any longer, Danyl needs to go and let the better talent complete for the final prize. My $$$$$ is on Joe with Stacy/Olly as potential upsets.

Ugh. What a vile person Danyl is. There have been too many stories about Danyl being an arrogant drama-queen for it not to have a slight piece of truth in it. He comes across as cocky in everything he does and quite frankly I am SICK of seeing him every weekend. He is overrated and I can't wait to see him leave. STACEY or JOE to win.

If Louis is going to make his RULE BOOK work he should get his facts right first, firstly The Circle of Life is in my grandson's favourite film of all time The Lion King, and Crying is in at least 3 films that I know of Mulholand Drive being one, secondly although he critised another contestant on big band week for not singing a big band song how come he got away with She Bangs and when did that become a big band song and finally I have a lovely recording of Geoge Michael singing Don't let the sun go down on me, so ok Louis write your rule book but for god's sake get your facts straight first.

I think Cole is a hard face bully: Who without a reality show to get in band would be nothing... What the hell doews she know!!!!! Her views make me turn over... Leave Danyl alone! The show is so boring, but what else is on. The other channels should take advantage of the fact that thre is a recession and put something great on...... XFactor is crap...Also will someone tell Cowell to get off his soap box and stop taking the air time by justfying his actions..BORING!!!!!!

I think Cheryl has been unfairly critical to Danyl - He isn't my favourite contestant, but he is talented and intelligent. I hardly think his performance last night was flat!! I think Joe has a career in musical theatre, Stacey is tallented, but a little annoying at times, Jedward, well, the are entertaining! I do think it's so unfair and very cruel of people to set up 'hate' groups on social networking sites. Lloyd is I feel, out of his depth at this stage of the competition. Olly is the best contender and I would like to see him win! He has it all, great voice, natural performer, down-to-earth and outgoing personality. OLLY TO WIN XFactor!

He is a teacher so he has to have an air of confidence and to do what they are all doing they have to be arrogant to get to this place.

Xfactor has no buzz at all. The last six contestants should be Olly, Jamie, Danyl, Joe, Stacy and Lucy at this stage of the competition. All the judges has choked on voting someone out. Then the presenter says last night, this week is the last week judges can save someone....So what's the point of not saving an act that can sing!!!
Danyl has had his social life played out in the media. The songs he has to sing except one or two are not suited to his voice. Further, we British have a bad cultural habit of knocking down someone who proves to be too good and arrogant. Give the bloke a chance! He is not as arrogant as Cristiano Ronaldo used to be.
Louis would never like him as he is not into that type of singers.

I thought Olly was really poor last night but Danyl was excellent. He is the only one with the Xfactor and any chance of longevity in the remaining bunch. I think Simon was a fool from day one not to pick Daniel Pierce, now there was a really really good singer. Joe would be great in musicals and probably will end up in one- he wouldn't last as a popstar. Stacey is talented but so irritating! Like someone doing an impression of a ditzy Essex girl from the 80's! Jedward will end up doing TV in Ireland but I dunno how people here can bare that horrible accent Dublin teenagers accquire...Irish people who appear on UK reality TV always get some sort of career over here.

This year the X Factor has become a game of politics, Louis and his rule book, sanity has gone out of the window..It is true there is genuine talent but the eventual winners will be tarnished with the gossip, slander and publicity of a negative nature. A guaranteed christmas number one, but oblivion similar to Leon Jackson, Shane Ward et Al. Who in their right mind would WANT to win this year... give it to Jedward who will be destined to photo shoots in crappy magazines with the Cheeky Girls!

i agree that this years x factor seems to be a game of politics this year ,smear campapaigns from the judges has just demeened the whole programme in my eyes. i have watched the series from the start but will not be watching it in the future. good luck to all the contestants.

Boo Danyl off the show tonight? But he is the only 'really' talented and interesting person to watch on the show. Olly, even with all that support and wowing from the judges who clearly have made their mind up to back him as the winner, is just utterly boring(don't know about you guys out there), my husband and I practically take this act to make our snacks, go to toilets etc.
On the other hand, when this dark guy, Danyl comes on the stage, we just become frozen. Don't even breathe out loud. I wonder why that is.....

I dont think Danyl is very good I thought he sang flat last night and some other weeks too. Joe is always pitch perfect even Simon has said that. I think the twins should be out tonight and Danyl next week. Joe should win and I hope Simon promotes and supports him more than he did Shayne Ward who he raved about at the time, Ive seen him in concert and he is great.

If Danyl goes it will serve him right and perhaps make him reflect on his insistance on changing his song choice. When he walked out the show should have left him to it he needs them more than they need him. Who does he think he is? I think Joe is consistant with a lovely personality and he should win.

This young man has sealed his own fate, I didn't need judges or media to tell me he is arrogant, his whole demeanour from day one told me that.
His performance last night was awful, he murdered a great song, he does not sing, he shouts, and just over emphasises every note.
No stage presence, none, that gaping mouth, and monstrous tongue make me cringe.
He does not deserve to win, best by a country mile last night, Joe.

I think people have been very cruel to him and as far as I'm concerned; he won the show at the time of his first performance" -he knows how to entertain. Fair enough Daniel can sing but he is far from the best singer, but his problem is that he is not a likeable person he just stands there & sings then thinks that the big note he does at the end of every song will make him win. He never looks happy & he has never done a fun performance & all his songs sound the same. Jedward, Lloyd, Olly etc may not be great singers or can sing at all but when they get on that stage they entertain & put on a show they try different things do dancing have girls round them etc thats why they are far more popular than BORING Danyl!

come on you lot, Danyl is in a different league to all the others. The other judges feel he is a threat to them so are just dishing out the dirt. He seems like a really quiet sort of person. My partner saw him in Maidenhead at the shops and he was really nice and friendly, and was not cocky in the slightest. This year seems like its a farce with Jedward still in competition, they cant sing at all, when it comes to parts of the song where they sing the backing singers vocals are turned up so Jedwards voices cannot be heard properly. This is meant to be a singing competition! Olly sounds the same all the time and Joe is old fashioned sounding. If any of you have taste then Danyl will win. He is by far the best and I don't think he'll be forgotten in a few months. And as for LooLoo you shouldn't be a judge, those twins shouldn't have even made it to your final three, I'm sure it was because they are from Dublin. I also think that Cheryl is bullying Danyl the way she is being with him.

Would love to see Jedward win just to annoy the hell out of Simon Cowell and it would be justice for him keeping them in the competition. And if Danyl is proving he can't cope with the pressure then he should go - we don't want another SuBo situation.

Danyl is over-hyped based on his first audition and I hope he gets booted out tonight.
The X Factor has been very poor this year with very average singers. My favourite is Joe, but even he does not have the magic that Leona has.
John and Edward are the only act that I have found consistently entertaining, which is perhaps a reflection on the format of the show rather than the contestants.

Danyl has to go tonight, but that dosen't mean LLoyd is a good singer, as for the twins they are a waste of space, entertaining though. Joe or Stacey to win, thet are the only two real singers. Stacey now needs to act and speak like an adult, although she is a good singer, her voice and childish behaviour puts you off.

OMG, how slow can peopel get! Danyl is one of the best singers in this series. And heo can Cheryl and Louis jugde danyl. Cheryl isn't that good of a singer and she is full of herself and Louis has Jedward and yeah they may be nice people but X factor isn't a personality compotitionn it's a singing compptition and Jedward can't sing. This is sheer desperation - this cocky, arrogant muppet is sooooo desperate to win. The X Factor title should go to the one who really can sing, has the all round talent, nice personality.
Danyl is a one trick pony - listen to him, he can't really sing that well, yes, he has a big mouth and hits that final high note, but the rest, pile of cr.p!
Now, compare him to Olly for a moment. Olly is so endearing, cheeky, good voice, good range, good personality, and has the likeability factor. Olly to win this year - he can go all the way, like Will Young.

It's bad enough people screaming over the established stars but this year on X factor we have an audience of banshees howling over a bunch nondescript singers, drowning out the judges' comments and irritating the viewers. Have the British public all gone mad? Whose 'bright' idea was it to have an audience in the first place?

I certainly hope Danyl goes tonight. For me, it's not about the alleged bullying or diva strops. As Cheryl said, he just doesn't do it for me. Every week is the same. He murders every song he sings with his strained nasal vocals, that awful faux-American twang and, most of all, his big shouty note and the deeply unpleasant view of his MASSIVE gob. I also think the song choices for him have been poor. He's a dance teacher for goodness sake. Considering Simon seems to want someone who is "current", why can't he have sung some up-tempo numbers with some dance moves thrown in?
As a whole, this series has been mediocre at best. Some of the best acts were left behind at judges' houses. Having said that, I'll still be watching!

I said this since they pick the final 12.Whoever win's They wil have a no 2 in the charts and that it. There career in the muisic business will only last one year. That will be to come back on the xfactor next year and sing a song off their album that will make number 40 in the charts. 2months later we will read that simon has taken them off his label and that will be it for them. Joe might get something in a musical. Eevery week i look at these contestanes i really feel sorry for them. They are not going to take Britain by storm I won't even mention America. This year it leon all over again. This does not include john and edward I just see 2 boys who cannot sing cannot dance. I would'nt let a child watch them on a children channel go back to school boys and learn a trade. I don't care who wins

He's an x cheesey boy band singer with one note schreeching and thinks he should be handed the title over someone with an actual good voice. His audition was a massive backing track with him just dancing around nothing speacial mediocre the only place for this cheese is in westlife

After watching last nights show there is only one winner and that is JOE....he is the only one who has been consistant with his singing....and all the rest were all out of tune..I wish Jamie was still there because he was good as well...JOE is the only decent singer....and I thought Ollie struggled last night as well...I did like Danyl..but he has got worse at singing not better....as for Jedward..well they are on the WRONG show!!!! as for the rest of them they are all in above their heads now!!!

All you people that are slating Danyl are probably the people who are voting for John and Edward and Lloyd. I don't dislike Lloyd but his voice is not strong enough for this stage in the competition and often sings out of tune (last weeks sing off was awful!) and John and Edward well...they may be entertaining to watch (all for the wrong reasons!) but would you buy there CD and actually listen to them? I am pretty sure that the answer would be no, because they can't sing a note!
Do all you people also believe everything that you read? I don't think that on the show he shows a "diva" side of himself or that he is a bully. Therefore all of these things are from the press and could well not be true or atleast blown out of proportion.
I think Danyl had every right to tell Simon that he didn't want to sing the song he had chosen for him, after all it is Danyl that would be singing it.
Cheryl seems to have a HUGE personal issue with Danyl for some unknown reason. Is this because she only has one great singer in Joe out of the three that she picked for the live finals? I mean Ricky was awful, no personality and vocals were rubbish and as I mentioned before Lloyds has a tuning issue!

Sorry just don't like him, please vote him off. Sings a couple of notes in a song ok, the rest strained and over the top! thinks he is better than original singers but murders everything he does. Danyl should be judged on his talent and not his personality, afterall look at Elton John and people like that, great singer but nobody likes to work with him.
Sadly thats where the xfactor has gone wrong this year with acts like jedward still in the competition and good singers like shanna not even making the last 50.

I hope he goes home tonight - he makes my family and I squirm with his bad tuning and wide, open-mouthed shouting. Just imagine listening to a whole CD of his "singing" - every song seems to sound the same - it would be incredibly boring.
We think he would probably be OK in the West End in a musical (Ray Quinn is doing fine) - he wouldn't even need one of those taped-on mics!!

At the end of the day this programme is about finding talent and a recording artist and the public should listen and they would reliase the only person capable of that is Danyl - he is a different class to all the others - he can sing - he has a great voice - so give him a break because if any one of the others win they will be forgettable in a few months and danyl will be signed up by a record company somewhere selling records and thats what he deserves x

Some of the comments about Danyl leave a lot to be desired and I feel a lot of bias in some of the comments. This year's X-factor is a farce, the Judges are not judging. A mentor is a mentor, the title says it all. This is a competition, that should be judged. This year X-factor is all about the judges not the contestants. Most of the comments made by the judges are totally hypocritical. They praise an act, then say but I have to vote for my own act... rubbish they are supposed to judge the act with the most talent. In my opinion, Lloyd and Jedward should have gone weeks ago and it's only the judges hypocrisy that have kept them in. Simon has in the past been a fair judge and I have mostly agreed with his comments but not this year. Never liked Dannii but this year have come to respect her. Cheryl Cole is totally in love with herself and showed her shallowness to the extreme tonight. Louis ... well the phone-in wiped the floor with him... so where are we? No-wheres-ville that's where!! My favourite acts, I have never wavered from show one...Stacey, Olly, Joe & Danyl. Footnote... as I live in Spain I never buy an English newspaper so never read the gossip but just judge the show as I watch it ever Saturday night

I watch American Idol with Simon also and that's their thing over there America will love Danyl. I love Olly but he is becoming to much of the same thing didnt like his song choice tonight! Paula xx

I have to say I don't watch these programs but have been keeping an eye on the X-Factor cause my partner is friends with Danyl. I have met him many, many times and he never has so much come across as arrogant- if he has a diva streak I've never seen it!. He really is a nice guy. It has made me actually question how much of these dramatic incidents are made up by the tabloids.

The X Factor is at risk of alienating the genuine singers in the competition. It is also frustrating the good contestants because Jedward have changed the dynamics of the competition. Disappointed with the show this year, used to be a No.1 Fan, when I thought it was the only real TALENT show on TV. Was I naive!

i find the majority of people watching reality tv a bit thickle. they simply vote on what they read in the press. anyone with decent hearing and sight can see that danyl is the best vocalist regardless of likeability. and they say its a singing contest. yet when john and edward are still in they complain,,,,,,laugh out loud. and that the judges are all against him because they are JEALOUS and he is a major threat to them WINNING.
