ANGRY X Factor boss Simon Cowell had to step in personally to bring sanity back to his contestants' "out of control" house.

In a sensational move to save Britain's top TV series, a team of psychologists and experts were called into action as the young stars' mansion went into meltdown with some inmates said to be at breaking point.

The north London house has descended into chaos with the wannabes allowed to run riot.

One contestant was shocked to discover text messages on a mobile phone between two others discussing their feelings for each other - in complete defiance of a 'no-relationship' rule.

And cheeky 18-year-old Jedward twins Jed and Edward Grimes were caught giggling over internet porn as they waited for a singing lesson.

Worried boss Simon Cowell stepped in, desperate to avoid another SuBo-style catastrophe where the stress and strain on Britain's Got Talent's fragile runner-up Susan Boyle propelled her into a breakdown.

An inside source on the show revealed: "Simon knows he has a duty of care to these youngsters and is determined to stamp the problems out NOW."

To head off disaster the 50-year-old pop guru personally:

BAWLED out the worst offenders for their outrageous behaviour.

CALLED in contestants' families for urgent crisis talks.

ORDERED a shake-up next year, dividing the sexes into TWO separate houses.

He is also considering parachuting in a tough live-in 'matron' to keep order.

Simon's intervention was sparked by an incident at the house last weekend just hours before the Jedward twins controversially kept their place on the show after their Ghostbusters performance.

One contestant was left "distraught" when the incident was brought to the attention of show bosses. And another housemate was spoken to by executives.

The show's psychologists moved in to support the upset contestant, whose parents were contacted.

The drama climaxes a season of controversy that has dogged the show.

Producers have already warned the youngsters of their no-romance rule after it emerged Stacey Solomon and Olly Murrs shared a kiss. Constant internet rumours have surfaced about problems between occupants in the house. Bisexual teacher Danyl Johnson, 27, was accused of bullying and branded "vile" by judge Louis Walsh.

With stress levels in the house now said to be at boiling point under the pressure of live finals, producers are determined to be tough and warned: "No more incidents, rows or flings!"

The porn incident involving Jedward - who last night stole the show with a blockbuster production of Queen hit Under Pressure - was considered a teenage lark but still fuelled concern.

A top source deep inside X Factor last night confirmed: "Simon's learnt so many lessons from what happened with Susan Boyle and is being more proactive this time. This has become the biggest show on TV with enormous pressures on the contestants and they're just kids who have never experienced anything like this before in their lives.

"That's why every resource is available to help them, including support workers and counsellors. Simon knows the house must be in order or it'll have serious consequences for the show."

Our source said: "Until now there have been no staff in the house whose duty is to monitor the behaviour. It's like an out of control boarding school.

"Sure, they have security outside to keep fans at bay. But no one to ask for personal advice and support. It's like the Big Brother house without cameras.

"The team believe appointing a matron would curb misbehaviour, stop late-night antics and instil some discipline."

Producers had hoped that as one of the older members of the house, and a teacher, Danyl would defuse any problems. But our source revealed he has actually been a disruptive influence away from the cameras. "With his background you'd think he would have as acted as a calming influence," said the insider. "But he has CAUSED problems in the house and increased tensions. The viewers never see any of this.

"It's also chaos in there because there are no set timetables. Contestants come and go at all different times.

"On top of this there have been clashes, rivalries and arguments over petty things which get exaggerated in the confines of the house. Really, they're young adults and can do what they want. But they're not used to fending for themselves under such intense scrutiny.

"The pressures mount as the week progresses because one of them WILL be voted out - and minor rows get blown out of proportion."

"OMG OMG JON AND EDWARD WATCH PORN!!!" Why is everyone so offended by that? Did you all forget what it is like to be kids? Reality check: normal people do watch porn and kids even more if you let them! And of course they are flirting, arguing, getting no sleep and partying! They are young and healthy, it's normal.

Also I've been hearing a lot of people saying that not revealing the results is proof of the show being fixed... THAT'S RIDICULOUS! Just think people, they don't show the results because you would know who the winner would be as weeks went by!!! Plus, even if the results were to be released they could just change them anyway if they wanted, so yes, that saying is stupid...

As for the judges this year, Danni is getting really defensive and it shows, but I do think she gives really good advice. Louis is just RUDE! Simon well, he is Simon and I love him, and Cheryl is just adorable and funny. And I think they changed Danni's seat because her and Cheryl together are boring as they agree with each other and are always nice to the contestants. With Cheryl stacked between Louis and Simon she is forced to stand up for herself and her acts more because those two are always picking on her...

By ed.. Posted November 22 2009 at 3:31 PM.

I have lost all respect for simon, he puts money before talent n thats why he choose Jedward 2 stay n let it go through to deadlock coz he knew they would stay!! Its crap n i dnt watch it any more all the good ones have gone besides Stacey i hope she wins !!

By XxBethanyxX.. Posted November 17 2009 at 9:40 PM.

John & Edward to WIN. I'm an adult and I genuinely adore them.

By Emma.. Posted November 17 2009 at 4:38 PM.

Its all a bit of a fix & farce i reckon, did no one notice other than myself that Simon could of been the one that sent the two brats home the other week??He louves them for weeks then doesnt use his power to send them home, funny that..The whole show has become stupidly predictable to me.. Im not overly keen on Danyl but if hes bullying & being a teacher himself, then hey,he should be kicked out immediately..As for the two brats tho, boys will be boys esspecially left to their own devices...Id put the whole blame on Simon for the goings on in the house as he should really of known a whole lot different as its obvious to me putting them all in one place together along would cause such mayhem... The next to go i think should be Louis Walsh, hes so rude, vile & shows no respect what so ever, where juges are concerned anyway...

By Paul Venn.. Posted November 17 2009 at 1:07 PM.

I've now turned off this fixed farce of a show. i'd rather watch a REAL pantomine.

By Angie.. Posted November 16 2009 at 10:50 PM.

what on earth is going on here. I just can't believe Jeward, I mean why?. Pornorgraphy is definetly not the answer guys. X factor is actually becoming a disgrace to national television. Those fools John & Edward are nonsense humanbeings and need a life, they can't sing for human waste and their just decresing the development of viewer interest of the show. They need to go immediately. What foolsihness man.

By KC.. Posted November 16 2009 at 10:37 PM.

why do we have all these top artists on the show and expect the wannabees to perform there songs when in true fact if they win they will be performing some ridiculas song written by another nobody let them sing there own type of music and judge from that and use these artists for advise only and o put it back to 1 show a week

By td.. Posted November 16 2009 at 12:53 PM.

I'm actually glad that next years is the last XFactor because the show seems to go downhill every year.

This year, if Jedward were not in it noone would be interested at all as much as I dislike them I do think a lot of people including myself watch to see what song they will kill next. All the acts this year sound like they are on a karaoke competition rather than a professional singing show.

Danyl and Jamie had great first auditions but that was it, they both peaked then and gone down hill since. Both of them got far too cocky.

By Stais.. Posted November 16 2009 at 8:04 AM.

I can't believe the language used by Louis Walsh in deriding the talents of some of the contestants. And in front of millions of tv viewers. Simon Cowell may have learned some lessons from the Susan Boyle chapter.
But if Louis goes on like this, there are going to be a few more breakdowns down the road.

By rabbit22.. Posted November 16 2009 at 1:37 AM.

If all those bl@@dy idiots didn't keep voting for the muppets this article would not have made the news of the world !!
I remember when it was a TALENT show ! now we know why people who can not sing go to the auditions because they can make it on to the live finals ! M jackson must be turning in his grave! No sorry it was wrong to mention the two in the same message !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Big Phil.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:33 PM.

Who are the fools that vote - they cant be over 12 years of age surely? of course its a fix not in the logical way, its so easy to see who is going after the comments. Danni is the only one who actually has any true musical knowledge whether you like her or not!! its not important that she has not had a number one. As the majority of people nowadays that have a number one cant sing!! they just have the right look after all its a shallow world we live in. As a music teacher I know who can sing even if I cant myself. Dont vote Simon must be laughing his head off as you are paying his wages. Let the judges JUDGE and see what happens.

By Jenny.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:02 PM.

What an earth and john and edward doing still in and come on let them live a little, or send louis in with the rule book

By Rich.. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:22 PM.

this is a message for Simon i watched the Xfacter tonight and got to say Simon make this year the last Year of X Facter, you have milked it for the last couple of years, this year is going to be the last from what i can see your doing with the people on the show you have made shore the real singers have been kicked off, i know you are doing it for extra press coverage but don't you think people are going to wise up to you and get sick of what you are doing with real peoples lives

By Martin .. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:46 PM.

What a nasty, bitter joke Danni has shown herself to be.
I'm not a fan of Jedward but I bet they sell more records than Danni has ever done.
Please Simon tell us, why is she even on the show?

By Andrew.. Posted November 15 2009 at 7:48 PM.

I watch the xfactor after ive watched strictly. I keep telling people who say it's rubbish this year that when they find a someone that they can turn into an international star, the next year they won't choose anyone as good. When leona won the next year they pick all rubbish singer the year after they had strong singers. Look at this year whoever win will be a one year wonder. Watch next year it will be stronge singer and looking to find an international star.

By jenni.. Posted November 15 2009 at 7:36 PM.

People are right that ultimately the public chose Jedward last week. The problem I have is that Simon has lost all credibility - last night's address was all spin. The sing off was devised to give the judges the opportunity to disagree with the public. Each week they say they will make their judgement based on how they perform in the sing off. His first sentence was recounting that he has had problems with Lucy - hello that was history nothing to do with the sing off. He goes to deadlock to escape being mauled by Louis for ditching his final act and knowing it will be controversial - good for ratings. The furore was because he failed to do what he promised to do. The sing off is now a waste of time. Louis is vicious and should not be allowed to be so personal. Cherly has become Simon's lapdog. Danni is the only judge with integrity. The seating change is to isolate Danni and prevent her from influencing Cherly. The show has become too big to be handled correctly - Simon is out of his depth. I hope the judges read some of these comments and take heed otherwise it will go down the pan as with Big Brother. Thanks

By Arthur Cook.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:48 PM.

Anyone with any musical sense can't stand Jedward, but the only way to teach Simon a lesson is for them to go through this week at the expense of one of his acts. I think Danyl is great, but Simon would be fuming if he went home, and that's what he deserves after last week. In fact, just for karma's sake, Jedward should win and take his million, if a proper career was ended last week then he should be stuck with them.

By steve.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:47 PM.

The twins cannot sing, cannot act, in fact just muck around on an expensive set. They are getting money and or fame for old rope. Some of those that can sing are out and it's a shame that the housemates have run riot. What does anyone expect??? It's like leaving kids left in a candy store. The need guidance and some self discipline.
Hey, give us our money's worth and give us a really good show. You have done it in the passed, I am sure you can do it again.....

By Tiramisu.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:44 PM.

I think Stacey and Joe are fab. John and Edward are awful I don't know why they have come this far It's stupid! Jamie is more of a pub singer and Daniel is good but he can only sing loudly. Lloyd isnt very good.

By Hannah.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:55 PM.

I get mad when Louee keeps saying how entertining Jedward are, my grandad is entertaining when he has had a few drinks!! When he talks about the other contestants vocals being not good enough I can't help shouting at the tv 'that's rich coming from you' I would like to wipe that smirk off his face. I lost all respect for Simon last week, they should do away with the sing off as Simon is abusing the system by changing the rules every week.

By Sue.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:26 PM.

I think stacey is absolutely fantastic, she is a wonderful young mum who gives a fabulous performance every week, she is a beautiful young woman with a wonderful personality, and most of all she the voice of an angel. GO GIRL GO. STACEY TO WIN WIN WIN

By wendy.. Posted November 15 2009 at 5:53 PM.

Dont let the Irish twit back next year, posted by Phil. Why bring the Irish into it? You could have just said Louis Walsh, have you forgotten Simon saved them

By Marie.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:02 PM.

I love stacey and olly. get rid of the twins!!

By Nicola wood.. Posted November 15 2009 at 5:22 PM.

Most comments here are very viable comments but can I ask a question Why has nobody questioned the voting system , Simon seemed very confident last week when he let it go to the public vote , I would be asking for a more public friendly voting system one which the public can see and be confident with.

The Judges Do Not Know What The Show Is About When Louis Says It Is A Entertainment Show I Thought It Was About Singing Maybe I Am Wrong,

By James Robertson.. Posted November 15 2009 at 5:32 PM.

By Renee.. Posted November 15 2009 at 4:59 PM.

last week the show lost all credibility with simon keeping twins in.but now am glad they gave a gud performance this week and are just been bullied like they were at school.im sick of judges playing mind games with the contestents lyin thru their back teeth to make thier acts apear gud.last nite ollie was the worst and joe struggled throu.stacy was best .yet they go thru preetboys if ollie and joe in final.wat a bore.so simon ssaved twins.so lets vote them .it nt bout talent, lyolld stil there

By andrew dutton.. Posted November 15 2009 at 4:26 PM.

We are not wasteing our time by watching this crap show, last week, was the last time.

By Steve.. Posted November 15 2009 at 4:39 PM.

What do you think of the news of vote-hijacking allowing Irish vote? Not many, but enough to get Lucie stabbed in the back..

I hope Jamie can go home. He's too good a singer and too mature a person to be involved with all the doo-dah any more. Roll on his first album and his first tour. No other contestant will record more than two albums. Jon Bon Jovi and Queen can't both be wrong...

But that voting scandal needs to be checked out.

Could louis walsh contradict himself any more with his support of J + E after slating same difference a few years ago for being "cheesy" he stands and supports this pure cheddar cringey little man!

By James.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:29 PM.

jedward to win, in our house, we record the show, then whizz through the dullards to get to the twins, talent, well that's debatable entertaining, definitly!!! Daani and her nasty comments, well they were making the song their own!! As for the rest, well who will remember them in a few months time, twins you rock!!!!!

By Avi London.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:22 PM.

And how can simon bring be sanity when he is not sain himself ? One week its one thing next week its another thats a sign someone is loseing there marbles how have the media not picked up on this simon is not well if you ask me

One week he said it was a singing compertition the next a talent compertition so that is proof not even simon knows what his own show is

By Dano.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:20 PM.

I really really hope that Stacey wins Xfactor she comes across as down to earth and she can sing as she proved last night "queen night". Stacey to WIN WIN WIN.

I think its gr8 and stop being so boring Its not that bad and being blewn out of control and john and edward with the porn it just natual get int here boys ;) Ha

By joe.. Posted November 15 2009 at 1:36 PM.

Will somebody please tell louis that the show is not about him. He actually said last night 'pick up the phone and vote for John and Edward, I need the votes'. If these two idiots (john and Edward) were Simons, Louis would be putting them down something cronic, and threatening to walk out if they stayed in. So shut up Louis, Simon, please don't let this Irish twit back next year.

By Phil.. Posted November 15 2009 at 1:18 PM.

JOE TO WIN !!!! WOOP

By fddsssd.. Posted November 15 2009 at 1:09 PM.

Given up on watching the show. Not happy with the twins. They CAN'T sing and whoever says they can need to clear their ears. Entertaining they might be but on the wrong program. Good luck to Simon as I think his team have the talent for the show. Simon you need a new adventure. Signing off for the last time, good luck to everyone for the future.

By OC.. Posted November 15 2009 at 12:56 PM.

I think the show is pants an if Simon thinks the two boy can sing well why not get Simon up there an sing see if he could do better them the boy if not well he should shut his mouth

By eileen stevens.. Posted November 15 2009 at 12:15 PM.

This show and the like gives people a chance in life and also an absolutely amazing experience. It is what it is - reality tv, and I love to watch the "journey" they go on.
Of course we don't always agree with the judges desicions or the result but thats life. Also we know from past experience that being voted off does not mean its all over, many a contestant has gone on to go through "doors" that wouldn't have been opened had it not been for the show.
Say what you like about Jedward but it is us the public who are voting for them, not me personally but someone is, and not for one minute can we blame young kids alone as they must have their parents permission to place the votes in the first place!

By Cheryl.. Posted November 15 2009 at 12:23 PM.

I would love for Jedward to win this series of X-Factor. It will show the producers and Simon that the public are fed up with it all.

Everyone knows by now that Jedward don't have much in the talent department, which means if they won the show, the public's voting would speak volumes to everyone in TV land that we no longer care about the show, the contestants or the judges.
They should take a leaf out Big Brother UK's book and call it a day. The show has run it's course and we can see through the producers desperate measures to try and keep the ratings high. Move on ITV. Show some respect and dignity.

By Carlton.. Posted November 15 2009 at 12:10 PM.

I thought X factor was a singing contest ? It seems to me that John & Edward are on the wrong program, wouldn't 'Britains Got Talent' have been a better 'podium' for their 'act'

By Ian.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:44 AM.

I think this is rediculous of simon. these contestants have rights, if Jedward want to watch porn let them!! How on Earth is this hurting the show?! Also i noticed last night on the Xtra-factor Stacey and Olly were asked again whether they were together, and it seemed to me that the way Olly was answering the questions really quickly, meant that he did not want to really comment. Afterwards he pulled a kind of 'ooops' face to stacey, i think this kind of shows that they cannot confirm anything. Also, Jedward pulled faces as if they knew something we dont know. I think this is totally wrong of simon to do, and its like their back in school again.

By emiliajayne.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:42 AM.

All last night's show proved was that 'Queen' songs are a 'bridge too far' for the majority of remaining contestants...
However, it was amusing, watching the judges lying through their teeth, in order to make there performances seem more credible.

The only contestant who emerged unscathed was Joe, who would be a worthy winner.

By The_Dolphin.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:30 AM.

what do they expect them to do in the house, sit an read till bedtime.they need to let off some steam an so what if the twins were watching porn, its legal their old enough an their not the only 1s to watch it.
hope the twins do win so it stuffs simon up. Louis will be buzzin so much...or will he???? i wonder

By its me.. Posted November 15 2009 at 11:20 AM.

I dont think any of them can sing I dont know why there were pick in the first place, The judges knew this , but i do think the show has had is run, and this season has proved it so , lets moven on and find a great new show to watch simon!!! PLEASE

blah, blah simon made a mockery of the show-dont think so. can't believe people are still goin on about it. Lucy was dull and boring and would never win anyway as for Cheryl who does she think she is liked her last year thought she come across as a really nice person how wrong was i she has a nasty mouth on her- get rid!!

I think they will find themselfs in music carreers.
the pretty joe should move on with his wish to be a doctor.

By hekamo.. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:44 AM.

I dont know why your all so bothered about it. Its a show. GET A LIFE you sad gits

Jamie is hot

By sue.. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:49 AM.

The one I feel sorry for is Jamie, 34 years old and putting up with all that nonsense. He already lives away from home and going back into a house full of wannabes, most of whom aren't long out of nappies. What does Simon Cowell expect when he puts 12 people of varying ages under one roof.....kids will be kids and 20 + year olds who still live with Mummy will have a ball. There is no answer to his so called worry.....the elimination process goes on reducing the numbers sharing the house....Reading some of the comments written by others, there are more pressing and tragic things going on in the world, Afghanistan for one...... Grow up people all this is just cheap entertainment at great expense to the public, earning Simon Cowell and his band a fortune.....

By Maggie Walker.. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:32 AM.

the show has become a joke, I did not watch the stupid programme after Simon made a mockery of it last week well done Simon you wrecked a very good show, no wonder they are all acting like animals after you made them all a laughing stock last week. You are exploiting these young people so you deserve all you get.

By Ev .. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:04 AM.

I can't believe people are still actually falling for his I hate john and edward routine, wake up, he wants you to vote for them!

By Jay.. Posted November 15 2009 at 10:06 AM.

I think X Factor has had it's day .... this series has been as exciting as watching paint dry, apart from John & Edward...... lets face it they're the only talking point!! and for 2 kids to be the target of such hate & abuse and yet come back week after week, without any self pity or tears, and look like they're having the time of their lives, I think shows a strenghth & maturity beyong their years !!! and actually I never thought it was just a singing competition... it's called the X Factor... which to me just means having that extra something, star quality ,standing out from the crowd ..... someone could have a great voice but no personality or star quality at all .... Simon Cowell isn't daft, he knew last week that without John & Edward in the show people would be turning off in droves !!!!!!!!!!!!

By kaz.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:55 AM.

I think the show this year is very mediocre, all the acts are poor and the judges know it,

there is far too much of the 'stand-up and clap my act' from all of them, its a bit like 'the lady dóth protest too much'.

if you put any of them in previous series they would have been voted off by now or not even made it to the shows

the show this year is dire and i think its needs to be culled !!!

By poppedinsouledout.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:41 AM.

Lets face it, this might be the 1st time some of these youngsters have been away from home and they are doing what comes naturally. Yes they should be concentrating on what they are supposed to be doing, singing but they have to give vent to their feelings somehow. So 2 of them have struck up a friendship/relationship so what. However after saying all of this what they need to be looking at is if this is the way they are behaving now what will they be like when 1 of them wins, will they be able to handle the pressure? Simon was right to read the riot act, if only for their own good, they have had their fun now let them get down to some real adult living. As for the show itself well John & Edward have to go, they are entertaining but will they become pop stars NO.. lets hope they do get something to do with childrens tv as they will be most suited there.

By Joan.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:44 AM.

I don't get to watch the programme as I am in Afghanistan. My wife and kids watch the show and I get to hear all the info, I also catch it on the news and in the papers albeit a few days later. I think it is extremely unfair where there are highly competent artists who have a dream, would be able to compete with the best in the industry, however due to the male judges and their "I am Top Dog" ego. The realistic dreams of true performers are destroyed because of their ignorance. This should be the very last show as there is nothing achieved by destroying the hopes and dreams of quality artists for the sake of a two judges one upmanship approach. As mentioned I a in Afghanistan, and there are more serious issues to deal with rather than two wealthy, unprofessional and uncontrolable judges hitting the headlines with their freaks and potential stars who have had their hopes scuppered.

By Dave Chalmers.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:23 AM.

Is this X Factors desperate attempt at trying to give personality and life to a bunch of DULL contestants? Maybe they should concentrate on their performance skills as even the biggest of X Factor fans are beginning to lose interest.

By Molly.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:26 AM.

MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO, HOW DO YOU KEEP A HOUSE IN ORDER WHEN THE JUDGES ACT LIKE CHILDREN.

By Lynda.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:26 AM.

Cant believe the rude person in the audience who shouted eff off to Danni. Disgusting behaviour, whoever it was should be ashamed of themself.

So what Jeward got caught watching porn and giggling...I would be more worried if they had been overheard talking about poisoning the other contestants and judges of X Factor for a laugh...and as for romance in the house so what ...helps relieve the boredom and monotony of daily life being stuck in a house waiting for singing lessons and media interviews surely ??

By Alf.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:19 AM.

None of this will affect Simon Cowell as people seem to believe. He hasn't done a single thing wrong. And, despite their complete lack of talent, and everything else that should go with it, John and Edward haven't done anything wrong either - they've just been swept away with it all.

...... Simon didn't put the boys through to the Boot Camp stage - the other judges did.

...... Simon didn't put the boys through to the Live Final stage - Louis did.

...... Simon hasn't kept the boys in the show - the voting public have.

As for putting a "Matron" in the house, well, maybe it's a good idea, maybe it isn't. No one outside their loop REALLY knows if these stories are true, but they all wear their heart on their sleeves, so if Simon bawled any of them out prior to the show, it would have been clearly evident to us viewers.

Go Jedward go

By michael campbell.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:03 AM.

Why should Danyl be a calming influence on the house. It's not his job to manage the other contestants. They all have contracts, if they breach it, then they should be dealt with. In fact Jamie is at least 9 years older than the other contestants, why is this article not suggesting he be the role model. Too much leaky information this year from judges and contestants . Is it to deflect from how untalented they really are this year.

By Andejo.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:09 AM.

Psychologists? Matrons? Split sex housing next year? What on earth are they all going to do when they re-enter the real world? Members of the human race get themselves into inappropriate/dangerous/difficult situations from time to time and the majority learn from their mistakes. That is called maturity - life is complicated and challenging where lessons in taking responsiblity for one's own actions will hopefully be learned along the way. 'Reality' shows have been around for years now and the potential effects on entrants have been well documented. If they can't cope with the pressure then they should not have entered. It's a competition and people WILL compete and use all sorts of devices to get what they want. I do agree a mentor should be on had for anyone to personally approach but I do not consider imposing a nanny state environment to be the best way forward. This country is losing its individuality and spontaneity as a result of escalating interference in our lives. PS - leave Cowell alone, the ratings have never been higher, we don't want a sanitized version of him, watch the audience shrink then.

By Christine .. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:02 AM.

If Simon wants someone for the job as matron. I can think of no better person than my wife. She was a five times winner of Oportunity Knocks in the 70's, has two teenage children, and currently works with special needs children.

By micky.. Posted November 15 2009 at 9:00 AM.

What i dont understanding is people are so biase, when there favourite contestant are voted out they keep blame simon for everything that have gone wrong, the truth is one man meat is another man poison. We all have those we like and those the media has manipulated to hate. For me i dont have anything against Jedward twins if they are able to get the highest vote, if you dont want any of the contestant to leave the show you have to vote and encourage your friends and family to vote for that person rather slanging simon. for me Danny is the best singer and yet he does'tn get the credit. people should vote for him to win the show and not make hin the devil he is not, he is cool and humble. up Danny.

By Osaze. O .E.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:51 AM.

You know what? who cares who wins? there's far more important things going on in the world than the x factor.

Simon Cowell is the ringmaster, and the audience are his seals, clapping at his command.

By kearnsy.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:48 AM.

'Jedward - who last night stole the show with a blockbuster production of Queen hit Under Pressure' - No they didn't they did a poor version of a VANILLA ICE track that just happened to use a sample of a queen song. X-factor has lost what little credibility it once had and I will not be watching any more.

By Peter.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:45 AM.

The best way to show your contempt is by 2 things: Don't watch, don't vote.
If most people did this just for one week then cowell and co would have to sit up and listen. In the meantime, you can bitch all you like but unless people actually DO something about it then your just feeding the frenzy...and the ratings-end of.
Peace :)

By insider.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:36 AM.

What is this about?

Between the nonsense of "they are youngsters"..some are in their late 20's for god's sake...either they have sense or kick them off the show.

One of them being "a teacher" won't magically turn him into the calming, nurturing influence they imagine..and he is only a contestant, who will obey his commands anyway<he isn't above anyone else there.

This show has went from being a competition to find the best singer of the bunch to being a squabble between judges who should know better,a delivery of drivel from some god awful song chices and a format that seems to be undoing itself at the seams.

By kenneth mckenzie.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:14 AM.

If, as is often claimed by the judges that the X Factor is a "singing contest", why does Louis Walsh, in his support for the twins, keep saying that "they are entertaining"? So are mime artists and dancing bears.
The twins can't sing and can't dance and good singers have gone by the wayside all because the twins "are entertaining".
Be honest and stop supporting an act just because you happen to be their mentor. You are selling the public short, matey.

By Aud B.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:13 AM.

Instead of voting to save acts each week, why not vote on who you think should go. Isn't that a better way of doing it?

By Pam.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:13 AM.

I think joe has the best voice when he sings he as soul and passion I have never heard for a long time.he has just gone about his business week after week.He has something special and i really hope he wins, he is only 18 olly and daniel are older so joe can only get better .I along with my daughter are rooting for him and i know many more are.I would buy his records and many more would too.And in a first i disagree with simon, joe is the best vocally.

By julie husband.. Posted November 15 2009 at 8:19 AM.

Personally I have only ever watched one series, the one where Leona Lewis won - the only one worth watching as far as I'm concerned as she is the only good singer to come out of the show and from what I'm hearing I'm not missing much.
The problem with ALL these shows (including Strictly) is that the judges get their favourites and no matter what mistakes they make they are the ones that get voted for in favour of the ones that make may not necessarily be the best but try hard and make slow improvements

By Stephanie.. Posted November 15 2009 at 7:57 AM.

John and Edward were brilliant last night. The show is actually called the X factor and they definitely have it.They entertain, take the heat and carry on smiling. The rest of the pack are dull and repetitive.
Ms Minogue is starting to sound like a bitter old maid.

By James.. Posted November 15 2009 at 7:50 AM.

What a shame this series of X Factor has ened up just being a ' slinging abuse contest ' instead of a ' singing contest ' I dont know who is worse for this ' The Judges ' or ' The Contestants ', I think people are watching now to see what happens next, not to hear singing !

I feel sorry for Joe, in my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinion !, Joe has a great voice for his age and it can only improve more and more as time goes on, but he is being lost behind all this media hipe about so called ' Jedward ' who again in my opinion, are being used to create a media frenzy and stir up the public so they will spend more money voting !!, why should ' Jedward ' win ? is the Public votong for them, just to get revenge and target it at Simon ? well, I guess the publicity stunt is working ! as no one has even considered the fact that two young boy's are being hung out and dangled in front of the worlds media, to bring voters to the show, what happens to these guy's if they get dropped just prior to the final show, is it a case of, thanks but you have done what we wanted you for see ya later ? or even if they by some obsurd miracle win ' God please forbid ' will they be used just to gain rateings for the show in yet another Publicity Frenzy ? but what about what all this will do to these ' Young Boy's ' of course they stand to make big money, but is this the way forward in shaping our youth ??? I have my doubts, but, this is just ' My ' opinion like all the comments prior, each to their own !! however, Good Luck Joe !.

Not watched after last weeks cruel farce. Have recorded it so can fast forward and look at the bits that interest me. Simon is not dictating what I watch and when. He should realise with current technology that people don't have to sit there like dummies. Perhaps Advertisers will be happy about that not.

Series has been poor from start with new format and now nothing to do with a straight singing contest.

Hey! Simon why not do a Big Brother and get the hidden cameras in the Contestants House. That will bring in some more ratings!

By Justabloke.. Posted November 15 2009 at 7:14 AM.

Simon has repeated said that in the sing off he would vote based on the performances in that sing off. Over the past weeks he has completly revoked that by chosing to revert back to the public vote, thus ousting Rachel and Lucie.
Simon, you should now cancel the sing off and judges' vote, as it has been totally undermined by yourself, leaving the whole credibility of the show in serious doubt.
Simon, your defence has always been "let the public decide and let the one with the lowest vote go home". That's fine - but don't hold a sing off!
Simon, you are obviously not an idiot but we viewers are also not stupid - do the honourable thing, find a way of apologising to your viewers,re-instate Rachel and Lucie and let the public decide in the knowledge that there will not be a sing off.
Now that would create some publicity!!!!!

By Pete C.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:42 AM.

Not surprised really , what do they expect ? Put a bunch of over inflatered ego`s together, stand back and wait for the explosion. This series has been a joke with last nights performances being the worst of the series . Time to call it a day is this is the best they can produce and to think what talent they dismissed, shame on you Mr.Cowell .

By Kate Ramsden.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:36 AM.

who in their right mind would want to kiss olly??!!

By alistair.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:34 AM.

Simon is like Marmite, I happen to love him! he is a performer like the rest of the guys on the show!

it's Saturday night entertainment, and whatever everyone says, we keep on switching on each week, and if Simon changed into Mr Nice Guy we'd all accuse him of acting!
if you hate the show people, se that button on your remote.... use it watch something else!!!

debsx

By deborah.. Posted November 15 2009 at 6:11 AM.

I'm sure Simon said a few weeks ago if John and Edward win the X Factor he's leaving the UK for good.
Lets all vote for John and Edward then!

I would like to see one of his acts in the bottom two for the next three weeks along with John and Edward and for Danni to be cowardly like Simon was last week and say 'I think we'll go for the public vote' and see Simon's acts go one by one.

Simon - pull your head out of your arse before it gets permanently lodged up there!

By Robbo.. Posted November 15 2009 at 4:28 AM.

i hope the twins win, they cant sing and are totally talentless, lets just see how many cd's they sell hmmmm

By paula.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:06 AM.

You are the most obnoxious man on TV, Your standards are dreadful, you have sold your soul to the devil, and I am not religious. When I think of the decent people in the world you make me want to puke. You have all your harem of sycophants, what a pathetic creature you are. God why cannot you do something worthwhile.

By Leisha.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:32 AM.

These contestants are fodder for the 50 quid per spot working men's club circuit - and their behaviour matches their talent. There's no 'breakout' star on this series, Cowell knows it, and has to make up for it in the popularity stakes somehow. Using their antics away from the cameras is the only way. Bad news for Cowell though, the public can see straight through this cheap ploy.

By Peter.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:43 AM.

X factor is going down hill not 1 of them can sing QUEEN the silly simple simon sould know that THE show is CRAP HAD ITS TIME PACK IT IN SIMPLE NO BALLS

By johnny moore.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:57 AM.

So What, Jedward were caught looking at Internet Porn?! What man does'nt? All men are into Porn(and that's a Fact as Rafa would say!) They are only Human after all! Jedward Must win!

By Chris Chappell.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:55 AM.

I love the whole "Danyl being a teacher should no better" - he is no teacher, he just goes into schools with a drama group to try to bring awareness to certain topics. He is no way the kind of teacher he is portrayed to be. Even so, why should he be the one to hand out discipline - they are all adults ffs!

By Bee.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:55 AM.

wot ! oh yea john and edward should win cos they have voices of angels yea !? fallen angels maybe!

By kelly.. Posted November 15 2009 at 2:54 AM.

The bubble's burst Simon, you don't have a global winner amongst that bunch of pub entertainers.
All this series has acheived is to expose what an exploitative, cynical business you sell your ego to to.

I really hope John and Edward win, it's what this series deserves. No doubt you'll make sure that doesn't quite happen though.
