X Factor twins' Grimes against music
X FACTOR dance supremo Brian Friedman last night had an astonishing dig at gruesome twosome John and Edward and cringed: "Listening to them sing is like entering the gates of hell."
He warned: "It will make a mockery of the show if they go on to win it. They don't deserve to win."
Superstar choreographer Brian, whose showbiz-style routines give X Factor its pizzazz, pleaded with voters to think again after bookies slashed the odds of a Grimes twins victory to 14-1.
He insisted the pair, dubbed Jedward, CAN'T sing and are exhausting to work with when he has to rehearse their routines with them.
Brian said: "I have one word to describe listening to John and Edward's singing - painful. When I think of the twins I think, 'I need paracetamol. They are such a handful.
"It would be bad for The X Factor if they won. It's a singing contest and while they can sort of dance, they are the WORST singers."
Brian, 32, who has worked with a string of stars including Britney Spears and Pink, added: "They live on Planet Jedward. They're so hyperactive it's hard for them to focus. I'm constantly having to 'shush' them."
He has even brought in 'babysitters' so the lads, who performed Queen's We Will Rock You on last night's show, toe the line. He explained: "I've had to assign them each an assistant to keep them on track - like they're little kids.
"They're hard working but trying to get them to do the work rather than a million other things they're interested in doing is difficult. The worst is when we are doing group rehearsals. I'll be saying, 'Lucie, you do this, Olly you're here . . .'
"And then I go to tell John and Edward what to do and they are off talking to the girl dancers in the corner."
The Tintin-haired duo, 18, were outsiders at the start of the live shows and faced a huge public backlash after coming across as annoying show-offs.
But their razzmatazz performances have proved to be great entertainment.
Last week they topped the public vote despite a dodgy version of Ricky Martin's hit She Bangs. While show sensation Danyl Johnson was in the bottom two with girl group Miss Frank, who eventually got the boot.
Jedward-mania swept the country this week as hordes of screaming teenage girls congregated outside the X Factor house in London - and some flashed their boobs at the Dublin lads, who have an older brother Kevin, 19. Brian admitted the twins have the likeability factor - but said it wasn't enough to win. "I don't know what the public are voting for.
"I hope viewers got the wake-up call they needed with Danyl and Miss Frank being bottom last week - they have to get voting for people who can sing.
"John and Edward's singing is basically unbearable. Every week I listen to their track for the first time and it's like entering the gates of hell.
"By the time they get on stage they can pull it off because there is loud music, dancing and backing vocals."
But he went on: "The twins are kind, lovable young men and they're fun to watch but that shouldn't make them win the contest. They have marketability - as kids' TV presenters or perhaps releasing a quirky record."
Brian is backing Rachel Adedeji, Joe McElderry, and Simon Cowell's act Danyl who he said was shaken by last week's shock vote.
Brian added: "He's incredibly talented and I hope people vote for that. Simon was upset and he wants me to make sure Danyl shines this week."
But he added the twins had done well. "You've got to hand it them, they've taken everything in their stride and they're living the popstar dream."

I really can't see what all the fuss is about. OK, so it's a shame that these two fairly talentless lads are still in with a chance at being Xmas No.1 when better (in my opinion) singers have lost their chance, but it's not life and death, is it? They're not doing any harm, and if people don't like it, don't watch it! It seems quite obvious to me that if you want to have a serious singing competition, you don't put the general public in charge of who wins it. No offense - I include myself in this - but what do we know about it? I only know what I like; teenagers will only vote for the one they fancy, and the finalists from Ireland, Scotland and Wales will get all the votes from the Irish, the Scots or the Welsh - I'm Welsh and voted for Rhydian for that reason alone! If people want to moan about how theri vote doesn't count and they feel like the situation is getting worse, why don't they try voting in something important like a general election some time? Because here's the bottom line: X Factor is only a talent show. 5 years from now, what effect will it actually have had on your life? Hmm? Exactly!

Why is everyone getting so uptight about these two ? Firstly, it is not a "serious singing contest" it is vaccuous weekend entertainment. Secondly, just like John Sergeant on Strictly these boys are popular with the public. Thirdly, people like the fact that they do not take themselves seriously like that prat Danyl. Lastly, Simon's Mr. Snide has come back to haunt him and the public are voting for John and Edward simply to p**s him off ( or has he planned it all that way already ??? )

They are very entertaining and compared to the other acts they are truly geniuses.

Its time someone in charge of this programme took responsibility, and start to get back to what the ethos of X Factor is about. If this is meant to be a talent show then lets get serious. Simon should seriously look at whats the reason of the x factor, if its a none talent, bad taste TV then be honest and say so, and not pretend it a talent show. The boys group process was a bad start, Cheryl excluded some very good talents from her group when she was in Morroco. Lloyd cannot sing his voice is very weak, but because hes cute hes there!! Louie elimated some good groups in order to have John & Edward, ( it seems when he did so, it was to create the situation we have now - more ratings and publicity) - was that the intension??? come on enough is enough start by changing the voting process. If Simon, producers, and any connected to Factor wants to return next year, I think they should seriously state the nature of the programme, unfortunately The X Factor has being going down hill for the past few years, (with the exception of Leona, Alex etc) what happend to Shane Ward?? look what happen when Leon won (the less said the better) John & Edward shouldn't be in the competition, but that fool Louie wanted them in his group, (I think this is hes last year, therefore hes not taking it seriously). I am a huge fan of Simon Cowell - but the seed of doubt regarding the X Factor being about talent was sown the year Leon Jackson triumphed over Rhydian and the death knoll sounded when Simon brought in Clueless Cole, who incidentally, cannot sing to save her life, as a judge. She would never have made no. 1 if not for X Factor - no idea what Simon was thinking bringing her in. Danyl, Stacey and Jamie are my favourites - but will they win? Unlikely, they are too talented.

Ummm. Ok. Sooo. am I the only one thinking this show had no credability to start with? If the show is cancelled (and I prey to god that it is), then maybe ITV will have to put on some quality programming instead.
Then all we need is for the BBC to wake up and get rid of their Z-rated celebrity freak show and the world will be a happier place.
But I guess I can only dream of having TV stations with quality saturday night viewing.... sigh!

Ok, so I wasn't a fan of 'JEDWARD' throughout the auditions, and yes I agree they can't sing, however all this hatred for them is misplaced. Throughout the auditions we watched countless people audition who can't sing but we laugh and are entertained by it. They auditioned probably for a laugh and are most likely just as surprised they have managed to get so far as we are, however for all of you annoyed that they are still in the competition then I would suggest you place the blame firmly at Louis' door, after all it was his decision to put them through.
I think all of you people saying you 'hate' them should really look at yourselves and be very ashamed. They have not committed any crime and are just a couple of lads living a dream. Should they win based on their singing ability? probably not, do I want them to win? well if it really annoys all of you hateful people then hell yes!!!

Every week Jedward are given the biggest of the stage productions... catchy songs that everyone likes and people seem to forget that the are hearing the 'real' song rather than the crap those to call singing!!
Give them a 'crooners' week... then the truth will out!

I actually noticed more bum notes from Lloyd and Stacy than I did from Jedward last night. As much as they protest it is a "singing" competition is the X Factor, which comprises the whole package, yes, singing, but also performance, charisma, looks, personality, dancing, etc. If it really were based on singing alone, then Danyl wouldn't have been in the bottom two last week. Again, if pop stars were based on singing alone, Cheryl wouldn't be the massive star she is now either. The vocals on her song sound like she struggles to keep in time with the beat and to reach certain notes, and that is even with a bit of auto-tuning. I cringe every time I hear it ("no walk in the park", it sounds so off key and a beat behind). Yet she is, right now, a mega star, based on everything else she has to offer. She may not have the best voice but she has exactly what this competition is about, the X Factor, something that makes people just tune in to them and love them. John and Edward are not the best singers but they must be doing something right.

If Simon is so concerned with them wining, then why doesn't he change the voting system?? Change it to the act you want to GO and not for the act that is you want to STAY. If he had done this from the start of the show then Jedward would have been gone a long time ago and decent acts like Ricky and Miss Frank might still have been in the show!!

I Cant Stand the twins, they cant sing at all and good singers like Miss Frank are getting put out of the competition, its not fair. What in the heck is going on? These boys may be talented in the eyes of 6-14 year olds but I am sure most of the adult population find them cute but talentless. The adults are'nt voting for them the kids are. Just remember Mums and Dads, youre the ones that are going to have to sit and listen to the twins when your kids want to go and see them and youre the ones that are going to pay £17-£30 per ticket to sit and listen to that drivel. and youre the ones that are going to make these boys famous. HAHAHAHA!! Good luck and this is where I say....I'm going to have the last laugh..at least my kids are adults and know the difference between talent and absolute rubbish.

Look, the boys CANNOT sing. They may be entertaining to some - but in what way? Are people laughing with them or AT them? To me the X factor is a singing competition and the quality of contestant this year is nowhere near the quality of years past. It is getting tedious and probably past its sell by date. Young Lloyd is less talented than "Jedward", but doesnt come in for nearly as much criticism - this young guy has an average voice and is pretty to look at, but beyond that he has most definitely NOT got the X factor. What I will say is those who are voting because they think its "clever" and "funny" to make a mockery of the show - That is just stupid. The reason I dont think Jedward OR Lloyd for that matter, should be in the show, is because there are thousands of really talented kids who didnt get through and DESERVE the chance before these two.

I have a little confession, at the start of the show, I thought they were a joke but they have won me over. Ok so they arent the best singers in the world but dear God, these kids come out every week and do their best. Why all this negativity and nastiness?? They get insulted EVERY week, have websites dedicated to getting them voted off the show and have a media campaign that turns into a personal attack with every sentence but still, here they are week after week coming out on that stage and trying their bloody best! Have any of you even considered how these guys feel behind the smiles? They are just two kids, living the dream. Why So much bile? Save the hate campaign for people who really deserve it and leave these bairns alone. What is it with us british people that we have to rip everyone to pieces? It really angers me!
As for Brian Friedman, what the hell does he know about singing?! Has he ever attended a Britney Spears performance when she actually sings LIVE? He should just shut his trap and keep his opinions to himself. At least these boys sing live and dont charge people £50 or more to watch them lipsync while riding the train to crazytown!

John and Edward are generating more interest in the show than all the other contestants put together - they must have some appeal! And if its true they polled the most votes last week ... They are humilitiated at every hands turn by so called adult judges, especially cowell yuk. Yet they return week after week giving great original performances, putting their best into their act -they have not debased themselves or abused anybody or even risen to Cowell's bait. They are funny, original and very, very entertaining and take all the abuse on the chin. I think the volume and velocity of the criticism and abuse hurled at the lads is thinly veiled racism. The twins cannot sing. If you think that they can then you must have something wrong with your ears. It is a travesty that they are still in the competition this is a SINGING competition the prize being a record contract incase the people voting for them have forgotten. If they did win I hope that whoever is voting for them goes out and buys their "song" and I am sure it will only be one.
I can imagine them as maybe childrens TV presenters but I feel that they should have been doing something other than singing on a totally different show maybe BGT, that type of show. They are totally ruining X Factor for me.
Let's hope that everyone who normally votes for them were out trick or treating last night and they go tonight!!!

Jedward rock.....its not the two of them that are a laughing stock it's the show in general. X Factor (yawn) runs for 12 weeks, conveniently ending just before xmas where the winner gets the xmas number one slot with a grossly overplayed (and not that good) song....then they bugger off for the whole of the following year.How Dannii Minogue can be qualified to be a judge is beyond belief (dont bother having a go at me for that Dannii fans, its the truth so save your typing) These acts are put in for a reason- to create exaclty what they are doing- publicity for the show and idiots like me and you talking about it everyday.And yes, if this article IS true (probably not) Brian is totally unproffessional for even commenting on his favourites. New show please Mr Cowell we are all bored now.

The judges put the twins in the running for the live shows and cant moan now that they are attracting the public vote. If they want singing talent only then put singers through. They judges took that risk and its backfired on them. Hopefully talent will win in the end.

Think we have lost our way. This is a talent programe not Britian got Talent. These two lads from Ireland will be putting good singers careers in danger. They would be good for Haven Holidays or Butlins kids would love them, but not XFactor. not on. Come on Xfactor get on with what is needed like a good shake -up with the voting system.

louis is a judge because, unlike cheryl or danni, he actually has some experience in producing music. danni and cheryl are just pretty faces, they have nothing of value at all to say. cheryl is a pointless judge. if people don't like the twins then they should vote for other people. it is ridiculous that people ask why they get through, they get through because the public put them through. oh, and by the way, what was said about danyl on twitter was said by ONE person, and would only have been seen by his followers. what hasb been said about the twins has been said in the most read newspaper in the country. that is worse publicity, and they are only 17. danyl needs to grow up and get over himself. if he cant take bad criticism then he might as well step down now. simon knows the twins are pulling in voting money, so believe me he isnt that devastated. and they are getting the series a lot of press, so i dont think he should be complainind

A friend of mine entered the X factor comp and didn't not make it past the first judge who you see well before Cowell and co. She's a really excellent singer but rather fat so that's probably why she didn't make it through to Cowell and co. Most of the acts that do make it through are really young (teens), slim and extremely good looking. Are any of the finalists fat? No! they are not. They are picked mainly for their looks not their talent. The show is a farce not a genuine talent show at all. Cowell and co don't care all they're interested in is more billions for their greedy selves.

In all fairness they will stay in until the voteing is changed. By that i mean if we the public canvote for who we want out they would be gone, but if you think about it the current system means to get one vote against jedward i would need to vote for every act and im not prepared to do that. If i could spend 35p to get them pout then i would be voteing for them out, come on ITV save yourselfs!!!!

Yes, Ireland cannot vote, but the Irish in the UK CAN vote. They and the teenage girls are keeping them in (not to mention those that have lost sight of the x factor being a singing talent show). If those twins win, credibility of the show will be lost as it's morphing into Britain's Got Talent where the entertainment factor prevails.

Why is Brian taking sides? He works for the show & is not a judge. He should work equally for all the acts he is paid a handsome sum to design performances for. It is not his place to try and influence vote. He keeps doing this in various papers. Why? He should wish the best for each act. That is his job!
I hope that Jedward win as they are the most entertaining thing on the show. It is not just about singing. If it was half the acts on the charts could not be there...with today's recording technology anyone can sound good on a record so that is not an issue at all.

To clarify AGAIN.....Ireland cant vote (never have been able to) so its entirely the British Public keeping them in. They are as disliked here in Ireland as over there but obviously not by all...... I still watch them from behind a cushion though...... cringe factor car crash tv. The media attention they get for being bad is whats keeping them in i think.

Ireland cannot vote because it is not part of the United Kingdom. If you let Ireland vote you will have to let Spain, Italy, France and the rest of Europe vote, as Ireland is as foreign as these countries.

Jedward are there every week for a reason. Look at the free publicity they are giving the show. Seeming to grumble as he does, Simon Cowell is smiling inside as the money rolls into his coffers. Personally I wouldn't pay 35p to vote for anyone. Voting should be free but it is making Cowell millions. That is why John and Edward are there, more people watching, more people voting, more money for Simon!

theres only one thing about this show its FIXED ....how come we are never told how many people vote for there act ....i tell you why because if they say one act one by 90.000 votes and so on bt would say thats not true we never had that many calls .....this happened when the show ist came out.. no we dont get told how many people ring in ......trust me thet no who the winner is ...the only keep the two little boys in just to keep the show talking like we all are .....wake up people its fixed

I can't believe the hatred towards these two young lads .... what have they done wrong? ... have they been peddling drugs to young kids?...or mugging old age pensioners ?...no they are guilty of not being very good at singing in a talent show... and yet people are showing more venom & hatred towards them than to lads who do commit these sort of crimes!!! ...firstly, when they were put through the auditions THREE of the judges must have said yes !!! ..that's not the lads fault is it !!! and people keep saying "this is supposed to be about talent" ... well the X Factor stopped being about talent a long time ago ...it's about who's got the best sob story , or what fabricated backstage stories are leaked, with supposed 'arguments' between the judges... and the audition stage only ever shows the really really bad acts so everyone can laugh at them (when we all konw there is an audition before they even get to the judges) ...and mostly it's about ordinary people making Simon Cowell even richer !!!!!!!

At the moment, the votes are still spread out ver 9 acts. Once they get down to a smaller amount of acts they will be voted off. Remember, you vote for your favourite, not who you dont like, so the only way your could vote them out at the moment is to vote for ALL of the other 8 acts, but not them - now how many people are dedicated enough to do that?
Like i said, as soon as we lose a few more acts and the votes arnt so thinly spread, they will go.

Brian can make bad singers seem acceptable, if it wasn't for the stunning effects on this show, and the fabulous dancers, Jedward would have got nowhere they are talenless, there is hope for us all!

I love the twins, they gave the most exciting performance of the night last night...going to have to vote for them!
My kids love them too, this week I over heard my son asking his brother "if he wants to play John and Edward"... Was too cute!

It is a pity that good acts are being voted off that have a very good chance of making entaining their career, when these two twins may be it that they are likely to the public and the younger generation but they will never be able to make music their career they are a joke, why is the British Public voting for them!, this is a talent competition, NOT a statement for pretty boys!!! but then again I blame the vetting procedure, I know they have to have the entaining value go through hence the awful acts we have seen, but good raw talent has slipped out the net because of it.......

Jedward are entertaining to watch but in a cringe worthy way... they cant sing and the poor boys are being made to look like fools in front of the english nation, i feel sorry for them but hey they got balls to get out there each week and prance about abit more, if it wasnt for Brian though they wouldnt of made it this far thats for sure!!

the whole show needs a major shake up and needs too try knew things sometimes its not the hopefulls fault sometimes its the judges faul wrong songs etc for wrong people i would love too talk to simon cowell and put ideas too him to try something knew witch i think would make the program better and see more of those who have talent get through and stop them that dont have the x factor geting through so if simon has got the time to contact me lisen to my ideas see what he thinks becuse some of the time its the judges fault and not the hopefulls

Regardless of you calling them tallentless freaks would you stand up on a stage to sing,dance or entertain in any way shape or form.
No you would not you would rather hide behind a computer screen knocking the kids out there trying to make a go of it.
So i say they are not great singers/dancers, but to me that makes them more braver than the ones that can sing. So get a life the lot of you because these guys will make more money out of this than we will for slogging our guts out every day for years to come. Ha Now who,s talentless?????????????

I dont understand why everyone is giving out , 1st thing us in Ireland cant vote which is sad as theres Irish bands singing there an Irish judge and an Irish act ,,,, and they broadcast on our station , so its not us voting for them and yes there fun, bit of a laugh, why the insults to them isnt fair and very hurtful to them am sure,England must like them as there keeping them in the votes as we cant and they topped the polls last week so who knows its just a show for entertainment sit back and enjoy ;)

How unfair to brand these twins as 'talentless freaks'. And quite inappropriate for a member of the programme's staff to show bias. John and Edward have a great deal of originality, they are fun, gorgeous to look at and altogether appeal to a large number of the public. This is NOT just a singing competition - it is about finding stars and the John and Edward WILL be stars for a long time. If some people don't like them, that's Ok - but don't insult them. Personally don't like Rachel or Daniel but am not stooping to insult them and know they have some fans.

They can sing because if they couldn't they wouldn't be on the show. They have the likeability factor and the singability factor and the entertainmentability factor so why can't they win? I don't like the witch hunt that is going on, it's racism. Here are two amazing guys with big hearts and big fringes and incredible moves and yet all I see and hear is slanderous remarks from everyone in the papers.
