Exclusive: Hear Heroes

News of the World has the first online WORLD EXCLUSIVE clip of the X Factor finalists charity single for Help for Heroes and Poppy Appeal.

Proceeds from the track - a cover of Mariah Carey's 1993 hit Hero - will be divided equally between Help for Heroes and the Poppy Appeal.

The 12 finalists jumped at the chance to be part of the project which was performed for the first time on The X Factor last night.

You can listen to an exclusive clip of the song here. (It may take a few seconds to load)

To buy a download from Play.com here and support the charity, click here.

The single will be available in records shop tomorrow, just two weeks before Remembrance Sunday.

The Royal British Legion is thrilled to hear that The X Factor is supporting our Poppy Appeal; and X Factor organisers, as well as bosses at Sony records, couldn't be more pleased that The X Factor's first-ever charity single will raise funds for such a deserving cause.

Hero........What a BRILLIANT tribute

Wonderfully sung (although some of them looked puzzled). It bought a tear to my eye. I will most definately go out and buy this for our Troops, forthose who are here and sadly those who won't get the chance to be here and indeed for the Poppy Appeal.

They all need our support....

i dont think it was mimed because if it was wouldnt daniel and ruth's voice still of been there without them being on stage .

Hi all. Very interesting to read your comments - I've actually watched it back a few times, mainly because I was so moved by it. I did notice how confused they all looked - especially Scott [Daniel and Ruth were obvioulsy meant to come out behind them] - but they did well to cover it up. Remember that these guys are all new to this [except Austin] and they're still learning!! Don't like that it was mimed, being a live show, but it did sound amazing. I'll be buying the sinlge for SURE. And Scott should never have been voted off. Daniel did an emotional performance but isn't Simon always saying that it's a singing competition and not a dance or performance competition?? Cheryl also said that they should 'sing' when she was asked what she'd be looking for before the sing off started. Then they all based it on emotion. SO wrong. Daniel can't sing that well and Scott was getting better. Poor lad - he was gutted, and rightly so. Still, he's part of that amazing single and it will do so much to help our troops. And as for those anti-muslim comments - what a CROCK! 'Nuf said..........

I think its a fab song and i hope it goes on to make lots of money for our heroes!! I can't believe they were miming tho..

im soz but i honestly think daniel only got through as a sympathy there is no way is he a better singer than scott .

By melanie.. Posted October 26 2008 at 6:10 PM.

brill song and 4 a great charity but for it been a show where they sing live every week and a singing competition sorry but it was crazy they were miming and was very obvious 2 see

I thought it sounded really good, and I love the cause too. Although if I see one more person say those charities support war I might have to choke them XD

Those charities are focused on the people who suffered and no matter which way you look at it both charities support people who were often very badly injured when doing their jobs and that is deserving of support. <3

Ruth and Daniels door got stuck.. so they couldn't come on. If you listen though they do still sing.. proving it was mimed.Austin at one point sings Daniels bit and Alex starts singing in a Spanish accent too.. That's why they all look so confused. ; ) ( you can also tell they were miming cause Girlband and Bad Lashes sang in tune - as if that would ever happen)

Ye I think the song is very fitting, love the fact that Simon let all 12 acts sing on the song. Although I found it bazarr that "the doors stuck" as Daniel and Ruth where meant to come out. Why coudn't they come out through another door. Or is there only one way on to the stage?? Didn't miss Daniel cause I don't rate him that much as a singer, but did miss Ruth. Can't say I noticed them miming as I was engrossed in the reasons behind the song. Was very emotional, hope every one supports the charity by buying the single. I'm gonna get it as soon as I can get to the shops. Well done Xfactor singers, and Simon for the thought behind it xx

By Dee.. Posted October 26 2008 at 12:38 PM.

By frankie johns.. Posted October 26 2008 at 11:57 AM.

They were all miming!!!!! Bad for a live show!

By Tracey Hamilton.. Posted October 26 2008 at 10:58 AM.

just to say very good song but were wsa daniel

By sue.. Posted October 26 2008 at 10:39 AM.

Ruth and Daniel were meant to be in the song, but the door they were meant to walk out of got stuck

By sml.. Posted October 26 2008 at 10:13 AM.

it was because the doors got jammed when they were due on so they missed there spot. Simon said they will do it again to give ruth and Daniel a chance to sing. They do sing on the actual record though.

By Helen.. Posted October 26 2008 at 8:28 AM.

Brilliant. Better than any other version.

By Pootles.. Posted October 26 2008 at 8:24 AM.

Great song and i will buy it in support of all our troops and for our hero son.

By IronLady.. Posted October 26 2008 at 7:39 AM.

yeah, we noticed that too.... how come Ruth and Daniel were not included in this - very odd, must be a excellent reason for that choice?

By Helen Day.. Posted October 26 2008 at 7:38 AM.

Can anyone tell me why Ruth and Daniel were missing from this song?
