Victorious..but Alexandra loses it in the end
ALEXANDRA Burke broke down in tears last night as she was named winner of X Factor 2008, and said: "I am the happiest girl alive."
Highly emotional, she then completely messed up her version of the winner's new single Hallelujah-losing her voice during the early verses as the embarrassed judges looked on.

The competition had come down to the stunning 20-year-old and boyband JLS after Eoghan Quigg was booted out in the final that received a staggering EIGHT MILLION votes.
Alex, who performed a duet with Beyonce, told mentor Cheryl Cole: "Thank you so much, I owe everything to you."
And the win was a triumph for Cheryl, who saw Alex through to victory in just her first year on the show. She said: "Just thank you for being you, babe. I absolutely adore you."
But Alex admitted Louis Walsh was RIGHT to kick her out of the show before the finals three years ago.

She said: "I went for this show three years ago but I was told to go home because I wasn't ready. So I took three years and I came back stronger."
Delighted Simon Cowell said: "The right person won . . Oh God, there would have been a riot if she had not won.
"Something happened to Alexandra tonight-she emerged as a star. She is very special."
He added that Alexandra could be be as big as 2006 winner Leona Lewis. "She is that good," he said.

you HATERS really need to get over it she WON, was better was better than JLS, Eoghan and deserved to be in the final and win..But haters will SAY and DO anything to keep a good man down. she is better than Leona obviously her selling 105,000 copies of her single in a day, 23,000 more than Leona Lewis says it all so go girl. I am happy for Alex, as she was the most talented of the three left (what the living 'eck was Eoghan still doing there?!) -- but can she please STOP THE FAKE CRYING and all that phony shocked look to the camera stuff please! It just looks so phoney and she needs to just sing, smile, say thank you and get on with it.

Out of the 3 finalists, Alex deinitely deserved to win, though the competition would have been tougher had Laura and Austin still been in there. Also, having Eoghan and JLS sing with 2 second-rate boybands didn't help them at all.
Alex is good, and has a good voice, but she comes across as fake, crying on every show and at every opportunity. Then attempting to act quirky and funny on other shows and failing completely....ah well, that's "reality" TV...

why do blind people follow these money making shows, making young kids believe of they go in for the xfactor they will win. it is messing up the next generation of young kids who will only strive to be superstars when there is only space for 1 or 2. leona has a fantastic vocal range, very beautiful and has a humble character. Alex has talent but her voice doesnt give you goosebumps her talent, looks and character are not enough to make her a british superstart let alone an international superstar. We need a boyband like jls, different and fresh. Your right alex is a leona clone gone wrong. the british public are very critical and will look at her behaviour last night and be easily swayed to think she is fake ect... In 2 years the press have not said 1 bad thing about Leona thats because they cant find anything. Alex will be another xfactor winner forgotten trust me

why do people even bother following these shows.They just make those with talent believe they can win. Not everyone can be a superstar. Look at poor Laura White she was amazing and got kicked out now what does she do go back to a normal 9-5. these shows create false hopes to all the young kids watching. ALexander has talent but what this country needs is a boyband like jls, something different. Alex will not go as far as leona because leona has an amazing vocal range and is very humble. Alex was acting the whole way through even beyonce was soooo embarressed of her behaviour.shell be forgotten by the next xfactor,

I think Alex is talented but i bet her music will be boring, she needs to tone it down....every week she had this show of tears etc it's too much, have some composure.

i think jls should have won the show, and it was beyonce that won the show for alex, she only sang ballads,and she was so fake with the tears every time she sang, then the cameras would swing round to see cheryl with tears in her eyes too, am sorry got bored with every performance she did, and she is no where near as good as leona, also Eoghen, was so good a real entertainer, i will not be buying any of alex's music shes a fake and such a actress, every time, jls will be the true winners at the end of the day, go boys cant wait to get your first album!

i am soo happy both my faves were the final 2..i was slightly rooting for jls to win however decided they were better being runners up..reason being they can now look foward to taking their time with the album and i will most definetly buy it when it comes out!! so congrats to alex i rooted both jls and alex from day 1 and so so very happy!!! good luck to both.
p.s really unfortunate that one gets to perform with a superstar..advantage for alex there because i think the other 2 acts (bear in mind hate eggnogg!) should have a superstar to perform with..i was looking forward to rihanna and jls duet that was rumored (even though rihanna aint a great singer)but it would of made the competition interesting and not one sided from the off.

Messed up the last song!! She could hardly talk let alone sing. You make it sound as though she forgot her words which is wrong. She was so emotional she couldn't sing. She didn't "lose her voice." You wonder why people laugh at headlines in the Sunday papers. As for Alexandra's performances she has it all right now. Dancing and singing at the same time is not easy. Leona is an amazing singer but is only recently beggining to dance. Alex and Beyonce was the best song ever performed on the x factor. Brilliant to have another british singer who is 'World Class!!' I agree that it wasn't a fair contest. Alexandra was better than the others and thats not fair!

Bless her she is a star and or everyone giving her a hard time for losing it at the end it just proves that x factor is a 'reality' show that brings normal people from all classes into the limelight to give them a chance at their dream. so what if she was starstruck singing with beyonce, good grief imagine yourself going from a normal joe bloggs to singing live in front of millions with your idol! The fact that she lost it at the end shows to me that she is 'real'. Well done Alexandra you are going to be a star and you deserve it. Well done also to JLS I truley hope you make it big too as you deserve it also.

I agree with Buzz. Cowell did everything for her to win. She sings last, she has a world superstar to sing with, and Cowell only commented on her duet.
She was the best but next year lets have a level playing field.

What a fix, it was obvious she was going to win. No doubt she can sing, but do we really want another clone. JLS duet West Life, Eoghen Boyzone, and oh Alex Boyonce, of course she was to win, also to make cheryl more popular being her first year as judge. JLS should have won. I for one won;t be buying any albums of her's.

Leona is an amazing singer but has little personality and is more like a robot. Alexandra is a great singer but when she starts speaking she is so annoying. Tone it down girl! No one really cares what you have to say! Let your music speak for you.

Thank you for the correction I did mean Leona as a comparison to her. but David get your facts RIGHT!!! That isn't a nasty comment, I simply compared her to Leona who is beautiful and successful and called her an amazing performer.
The rest was simply a statement of where the talent show format in the UK falls down and doesn't deliver what is promised.

yeah.....well done xfactor has managed to clone last years winner and spoon feed the population nothing new, i will say she is an amazing performer but where is the diversity these shows promised. just look at the american contestants (ruben) and winners. why do we have issues with weight, age and public diversity in this country that people can't go through the auditions stage if they are different. look at the over 25's what the hell did danni do with her contestants, she killed what made them special. daniel was a young dad with a modern look at the auditions by the time she got him to the shows he looked like he was a 40 year old man, ruth had a voice to die for and danni took aways the ballads that kept her in and had her sing rock constantly which didn't show her true range, occasional rock, ballads and some spanish and she would have won.
