Fans slammed the beauty brought in to be the Beeb's version of sexy Cheryl Cole on ITV rival X Factor.
The two shows controversially went head to head for the first time last night. But it was Strictly's first outing of the new series on Friday that had fans baying for the return of Arlene Phillips, 66, who Alesha, 30, replaced. Swiss tennis star Martina Hingis was first to be voted off on the second show last night beating Crimewatch presenter Rav Wildman in the dance off.
But the talk of the internet message boards was of the new judge's ropey performance. One said: "You picked the wrong one to go, Alesha, get it right, girlo." (She voted to save Martina). Another said: "Alesha is even worse than I expected! And I did not expect a lot. Bring back Arlene." And another said: "Just dire." Meanwhile the BBC's Radio 5 was inundated with text messages slaughtering Alesha. Last night a TV source said: "They thought Alesha would come on and steal the show like Cheryl did. But they didn't take into account how popular and respected Arlene is. Now BBC1 controller Jay Hunt and the other executives are wondering how they can win the public round."
Celebrities joined in the condemnation. Ex-contestant Esther Rantzen said of Alesha: "She lacks Arlene's style and expertise. She played safe when awarding marks."
And Martin Offiah, rugby-playing star of the first series of Strictly, said: "Simon Cowell was brave enough to bring Louis Walsh back on X Factor.
"The BBC should be brave enough to bring Arlene back. They need to hold their hands up and admit they made a mistake."
Even head judge Len Goodman admitted for the first time he was "disappointed" at Arlene's shock axing.
He told the News of the World: "Whenever anything changes its format we're always a little bit sceptical. I'm sure Alesha will do a fantastic job. She's got the unique take on the show that no other judge has in that she has been a contestant."
Friday night's Strictly was watched by a peak audience of 9.1 million and an average audience of 8.4 million viewers. When X Factor launched with Girls Aloud star Cheryl last year it peaked with a whopping 12.1 million. And this year X Factor launched with a peak of 11.2 million viewers.
A TV insider explained: "With all the hype about Alesha starting there should have been a lot more people watching."
Head judge Len told us he had considered joining forces with fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Hor- wood to try to save Arlene. But he said: "As sad as it was, I'm sure once the BBC had made their decision to change the format that was it.
"If the other judges tried to say, 'Well if Arlene's not on it we're not going to be on it,' I don't think it would have made a lot of difference."
He added: "I spoke to Arlene just a week after the news broke to say how sorry I was. But of course we're still friends. Nothing has changed."
Len said he hoped Alesha could still have the same impact Cheryl had when she joined X Factor. He explained: "It's going to be a very refreshing change. She's got a bubbly personality.
"She might be the Cheryl Cole of Strictly Come Dancing," he said. "It's good she came on fresh with a clear mind, not being influenced by any of the judges."
Last night Martina waltzed off the show in week one after boxer Joe Calzaghe had a lucky escape. He ducked the judges' verbal blows to win over the viewing public.
When all eight couples had danced a second time, Calzaghe and partner Kristina Rihanoff were bottom with just 32 points. But the viewers voted Rav, 30, and the tennis star into the dance off - despite her scoring a decent total of 46 points.
Hingis and Rav then both scored two votes each from the judges. But head judge Len Goodman, gave his casting vote to Rav - sending out Hingis and Matt Cutler.
Martina said: "It was a great experience I wish it could continue."
INTERNET message boards had some support for Alesha.
Taxi_driving said: "Her comments to Joe were spot on and seemed sincere, unlike the wooden Arlene."
Unigal07 said: "She did really well. So many of you want her to fail."
Wysiwig said: "She did well and all her comments were appropriate for first-time performers."
MOST message-board contributors blasted Alesha's performance.
Hammers&irons said: "She might as well be a cardboard cut-out. Her comments are vacuous and pointless."
Moll_Flanders said: "Just namby-pamby remarks anyone can do. Arlene is sorely missed!"
Shoesgirl said: "Pointless, irritating, clueless and no technical knowledge."

Arlene looks young compared to him

By sheila glass. Posted September 27 2009 at 8:53 AM.
Alesh's arrogance in continuing in the job she has no clue about it really grating me. She is young, pretty and likeable but she needs to realise that she is out of her depth. The BBC are sending out the wrong message to aspiring dancers. She clearly needs the dosh and so will remain in post.
By mary. Posted September 26 2009 at 9:21 PM.
There is no doubt about it! We need a proper expert in dancing to be the judge in Strictly Come Dancing. After all it is a real dancing competition, thats why they work so hard.
Alesha should wake up, and resign.....I am sure she wouldn't like to be in a singing competition and have Sir Alex Ferguson as a judge.....what would he know about singing??? How about David Beckam judging her singing?
Please wake up Alesha and let some expert take your place........You were never a dancer! not to mention a professional dancer! How can you judge the position of the arms, or the back, or the feet?????? What are you judging after all???????
Sheryl Cole in the X Factor , is a singer, Maybe thats where you should be a judge.....!!!!!

The BBC treats our elected representatives with contempt. So, why should we be surprised when they ignore the people who are taxed to pay their lavish salaries? Its time people stopped looking at the BBC with rose tinted glasses. It isn't auntie beeb or some national treasure. It has become an over fed, greedy monopoly thats become arrogant and self-serving. The BBC today is more interested in overseas sales and global domination. Time for reform.

Why is there always one that needs to play the "racist" card !!
Just because people dont like aleshia dixon does not make them racist for crying out loud.
The only racists I can see are the bitter ones on the accusing end ......
My message to you ......... Get a Life !!!!!!

I love watching the show but i think the new judge is not as good like Arlen so i don't really bother to watch now i'd rather watch X Factor than strictly come dancing now...
By Barbie. Posted September 21 2009 at 12:13 PM.
come on Alesha , I like u xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By formula1. Posted September 21 2009 at 12:15 PM.
Alesha is fun, youthful and gorgeous. So she must be able to judge a professional dance contest then, right? Wrong. I understand that it is not Alesha's fault that Arlene was replaced, but it undermines the whole show to use a judge who is not able to effectively, well, judge. Bring back Arlene by all means, but don't take your frustrations out on Alesha who has done nothing wrong, she's just not right for this show.
By Mike. Posted September 21 2009 at 12:25 PM.
Alesha was useless as a judge - bring back Arlene who really knows her stuff about dancing. We need, as viewers to hear constructive comments (good or bad) from people who are qualified in this field in order to properly enjoy the show and learn more about the difficult task of performing tricky dance routines. 'you really tried hard' 'I liked you' 'your arms were a bit flat' is not good enough - more depth is required and I don't think Alesha is capable of this, just having taken part and winning the series she took part in. I love Len, Bruno and Craig though - replace Tess Daly and her awful dresses with Alesha and put the judging panel back to how it was in previous years.....
By sarah. Posted September 21 2009 at 2:09 AM.
Who's idea was it to get rid of Arlene? Maybe if the BBC get rid of them, use the money they will save paying an incompetent employee, offer it to Arlene whilst getting down on their knees and begging her to come back they may just save the show.
By lorraine. Posted September 21 2009 at 1:28 AM.
Alesha was fine.
Its really difficult to understand why there is so much hostility against her.
She didnt come across as being out of her depth and will gain in confidence as time goes on.
The show is an entertainment show and regardless of who the judges are the public have a large input on who stays or who goes.
If it was based solely on ability Linda Bellingham or Joe Calzaghe should be out instead of Martina Hingis.
By Logan. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:45 PM.
Give her a break. British people can't handle change. Give her more time.
By gloria. Posted September 21 2009 at 12:04 AM.
Leave Alesha alone!!!....X FACTOR ALL THE WAY...
By NE NE. Posted September 21 2009 at 12:03 AM.
I think the criticism of Alesha is unfair. Viewers are angry with the BBCs decision to sack Arlene and are taking it out on Alesha. Give the girl a chance its only week one! Alesha adds beauty, glamour and much needed youthfulness to the show. So what if she is not an expert on dance? That is what the other three judges are there for. Alesha is an expert on knowng how it feels to be a contestant on the show, in the same way that Cheryl Cole (an ex talent show contestant) is on the X-Factor. My message to Alesha is 'you go girl' and don't pay any mind to the haters! Love you like cooked food!
By Nubian Goddess. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:33 PM.
All You haters are just jealous!! I'd rather look at Alesha everyday of the week than that old bag Arlene.
By Terry. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:22 PM.
All those against Alesha are mainly the white British viewers from planet racists. She is a performer, a singer and has been through a lot of dance routines than most of us. She must have learnt a step or 2 when winning Strictly but why would we give her support unless you're brown like me. Simples!!!
By Bitty. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:21 PM.
I really felt for Alesha, she looked nervous and clearly out of her depth. She should of refused to accept the job of judge as she is not qualified to undertake such a task.
Please sack Alesha and bring back Arlene before the show self destructs. Also get rid of the doddery old age pensioner, doddery he says he's not, but doddery he is. Bruce has passed his entertain by date. Tess should go with him.
By Joe. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:53 PM.
Alesha is utterly useless as a judge - she lacks technical knowledge and background! Her comments are barely worth while - she spends more time making funny faces with Bruno than anything else. How can she comment on choreography and technique etc when she doesn't understand herself.
Massive mistake made by the BBC.
BBC - BRING BACK ARLENE!
By Nicola. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:55 PM.
A huge mistake. Be courageous BBC- bring Arlene back! Her comments were always worth listening to and the contestants could learn from them. I felt sorry for Alesha, totally out of her depth.
By Jill. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:42 PM.
Alesha has a great bubbly personality, but she lacks any professional dance experience and it shows. Arlene had a wicked tongue (very entertaining), but she was always spot on with her critique or praise of the celebrities and that is what we want to see from the judges.
Hopefully the BBC will be big enough to realise the mistake they have made and bring back Arlene. If the BBC is desperate to make changes get rid of Tess and have Alesha presenting with Bruce instead.
By Mike. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:25 PM.
You dont put a first aider in the operaiting room,so why put a person with no experience of being a judge on the panel.bring back arlene before its to late.
By Laurence. Posted September 20 2009 at 9:56 PM.
Alesha should go, bring back Arlene!! I think it's her lack of credibility that grates on us. And was she EVER going to vote against her old dance partner Matt Cutler in the dance off? I think not. Bruce and Tess were brilliant as always. Come on Beeb make the right decision here!
By Hannah Downes. Posted September 20 2009 at 9:54 PM.
I find it quite sad reading some of these comments. Why cant people just say that they don't think Alysha is qualified to be a judge instead of getting downright rude and personal about her? Alysha took the job as a judge on Strictly, she isn't a patch on Arlene but she did her best. See, you can give an opinion without getting personal about her can't you?
By patti. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:13 PM.
I like Aleisha and she is popular but I don't think she suits the judging panel. Arlene had experience and if she was in the show this year she would have certainly had complimented Rav, Ricky and Joe on their sexy bodies as well as give them good tips they can work with. Aleisha should have replaced Tess no doubt about it.. there wouldn't have been as much bad press and Tess wouldn't be missed as much. Not a great fan of Tess and quite surprised she's still on the show!!
By Angie. Posted September 20 2009 at 9:36 PM.
I like Alesha but she is NO WAY qualified to be a judge on SCD.The BBC have made a big mistake and i hope that they are big enough to acknowledge the fact and put things right. If its not possible for Arlene to return then either KAREN HARDY or CAMILLA DALLERUP would be ideal . They were both favorites with the viewers and are more the qualified to do the job.
By jane. Posted September 20 2009 at 8:59 PM.
Hang on ... we're not talking Panorama, World In Action or some high-brow drama here. We're talking entertainment. It isn't as if these celebrities are going to give up their day jobs to become dancers! Alesha Dixon was good and did a decent job. Arlene Phillips was a nasty bint! I'm sure as the head of her own dance company she's 'laid people off' before once they've become too old or not pretty enough ... so she should have been prepared for it. I think she's a nasty old witch and a bully anyway.
By Kath. Posted September 20 2009 at 8:56 PM.
The BBC will no doubt stick by her until the ratings really start to slump and then it will be too late!
By Martin. Posted September 20 2009 at 9:05 PM.
Arlene is a professional dance judge Alesha Dixon is a pop flop, the woman have no talent what so ever. Arlene needs to come back. Alesha cannot judge also.
By Sho . Posted September 20 2009 at 8:32 PM.
should have kept arlene and got rid of the bores that are bruce and tess. alesha could have had tess's job and the bbc could easily find someone who doesn't have cobwebs hanging off them to replace that old fool. a friend visiting from abroad was in fits of laughter when he saw bruce, he thought it was some kind of help the aged show for charity
By stuart. Posted September 20 2009 at 8:51 PM.
I agree with one of the comment made by the public that Tess daly should of been the one to have gone and replaced by Alesha. Alesha's got some presenting skills and look good on camera and can dance, unlike Tess! Arlene may not be young or attractive but she knows her dancing and she's damn good at judging! bring her back before everything go pear shaped for strictly. Big Big mistake! This new job doesn't suit Alesha, she was just a winner on one series, that doesn't make her a judge, NO WAY. Cheryl on the other hand, have been successful in her pop career and therefore give her a platform to judge the X Factor!! candygirl
By candice. Posted September 20 2009 at 8:47 PM.
Its disgraceful that you people are calling for someone to be sacked. Thats their livelihood, their job. All people have had bad days at work. How would you like it if I came to your workplace, with a group of mates, and started saying that you should be sacked just because of one incident of bad service. Better yet, if you think Alesha is so bad...just do it yourself and we'll see how good you are. Not so keen are ya??
By Rizvinho. Posted September 20 2009 at 8:07 PM.
They should have ditched Tess Daly instead of Arlene. If they wanted Alesha to be part of the show, then they should have recruited her to present the show with Bruce. This would have been a far more suitable role for her and she would be more than capable of doing a "twirl" with Brucie at the end of the show as she can dance.
By chalky1963. Posted September 20 2009 at 7:05 PM.
BBC give all us old viewers a break and bring back Arelene that Alesha woman is useless and may I ask who was the idiots at the BBC who made the decision to replace Arlene
In fairness to Alesia she is a stunning women and a great singer but as a judge completely useless
So come on BBC change this big big error as soon as possible
The new show is simply wonderful with the one exception as above

comments that sugguest that miss dixon is not liked as a judge because of the colour of her skin are foolish- to even sugguest this is the reason.
I AM BLACK, I am a fan of mystic but not dixon. However, i enjoyed and rooted for her in 2007. I WAS A FAN OF STRICTLY- LOVED ALL THE OLD JUDGES because they were experienced in the field of dance. The show was about celebs getting an honest opimion from experts- not 'eye candy'
Simple As.......
Why not get rid of all the experts and replace em with..... pop stars and tv personalities. Exactly!!!!!
bring back arlene or a professional dancer BBC.
By millie. Posted September 20 2009 at 6:42 PM.
Alesha is a nice person but she doesn't have the right technical background to be a judge on a show that is meant to be about how well people dance she is unable to properally comment on the technical faults that the celebs make her comments were repeatative and boring there was no proper comments about the dancing, the bbc needs to bring back Arlene she is exactly what the show needs she has the technical background and i always enjoyed her comments as they were always spot on!! come on bbc bring back Arlene

aliesha dixon as a judge is useless she can't give an honest opinion on the dancing skills as she hasn't got a clue what to look for. She's just there for decoration. Her coments were just like I expected they sounded like she was reading them from autocue. As for the marks she was copying either Len or Bruno.Get Arlene back before you lose thousands of viewers.

By Kel. Posted September 20 2009 at 5:25 PM.
strictly is a bore anyway..the celebs on strictly are z listers not known by anyone.also boring stupid annoying....so alesha ain't got nothing to do with this...
By anonymous. Posted September 20 2009 at 5:20 PM.
It was the BBC decision to out arlene if alesha had'nt had tken the job it would of been someone else. She should of been brought in as a viewers judge half the as stuff that the judges talk about we as viewer don't now what they are talking about we not looking for toes pointing. Last year with John Sergent the public was saying that the judges were taking it seriously are we doing the same. Anyway these celebrities are not going too become pro. There there to entertain us get payed and and get some work out of it. Anyway the xfactor judges don't always know what they are talking about i heard some out of tune singers and the judges have told them they were good. Anyway well done too Holly and Alesha who have difficult shoe to fill and have to deal with the public. I also blame the BBC for not giving her the support she should of need and they could of revamp it a lot more. So what if she voted for matt i would got a lovely bum and he was her dance partner. Anyway arlene always favour the men celebs.
By Jennie. Posted September 20 2009 at 5:06 PM.
leave alesha alone......she didn't chose to become judge .i mean sure she doesn't have that much experience but she'll learn as the days go by...yhu x-factor peeps find something or someone else to pick on.
By gucci.95.. Posted September 20 2009 at 5:17 PM.
I'm sure Alesha is a very nice person..however the woman cannot judge a dance competition, it's an absolute joke. When watching I expect CONSTRUCTIVE criticism from the judges and for them to KNOW what they are talking about!! grrr all she could talk about was how the contestants bloomin looked!!Not good at all BRING ARLENE BACK!!!!
By kittykat01. Posted September 20 2009 at 4:44 PM.
BRING BACK ARLENE - someone who REALLY knows what she's talking about! She's got more knowledge and expertise of ALL aspects of dance than the rest of the judges put together. Alesha deserved to win the competition last year, and is a lovely girl, but there's absolutely no way she can replace Arlene.
By JudyW. Posted September 20 2009 at 4:44 PM.
Yes Alesha should be axed. As for Bruce if you want to injected some youth into it. Get rid of Bruce and Anton. As for Brandon, does he love himself or .... There is my four choices to axe. Bring Arlene back if possible. At least she knew what she was talking about Alesha picks up on a comment from one of the other judges. Did anyone see how she eyed the woman from The Bill on the first night. As Esther Smith said earlier where is their common sense!
By A Gardiner. Posted September 20 2009 at 4:49 PM.
For me, the reason I don't support Alesha as much as I support Cheryl is that Cheryl got the place on The X Factor panel because Sharon Osbourne quit, whereas Alesha got her place on the Strictly panel to replace Arlene Phillips.
I just think it's very unfair to replace a globally successful choreographer with an only-recently-become-a-household-name popstar, especially as it is a dancing competition.
However, I don't think Alesha deserves to get all the blame, she is only doing her job. It is the BBC that should get it all.
By Christopher Couture. Posted September 20 2009 at 4:10 PM.
Please take Bruce Forsyth off this show. He is so awful, hesitant, seems lost, face like a mask, eyes lifeless, dull, and makes cringeworthy stabs at jokes. He brings down the entire show with his continual efforts to promote himself. YES, he IS doddery. I almost ecpect him to fall down. Now, with the vacuous Alesha Dixon, the show is even more handicapped. Why did the BBC tamper with it? They should have fired Bruce not Arlene.
By Sandra Rae. Posted September 20 2009 at 4:21 PM.
Big mistake getting rid of Arlene and Alesha is no substitute. Yes she is entitled to her opinion but you might as well have taken someone out of the audience. She does not add any value as her opinions are irrelevant - Darcy would be a better replacement.
By Tina. Posted September 20 2009 at 3:33 PM.
Alesha's a nice girl but she is not ready to a a judge on the show! bring Arlene back please - she is great and knows her stuff!
By Tasha. Posted September 20 2009 at 3:43 PM.
Alesha has to go her comments are not worth listening to and the scores she is giving are not correct as she hasn't the "know how" and this will meant that someone has to leave due to her inexperience. Come on BBC get your act together, you wouldn't go to a Dentist to have a broken limb mended would you? and Alesha stick to singing.
By Anne Trevorrow. Posted September 20 2009 at 3:37 PM.
Give Alesha a chance people..... this is a first for her and like anyone's first day at a job she was nervous. I think that there is a lot more to come out from her and I can only hope that all this criticism will give her the fire to be a stronger judge next week!
By Chantell. Posted September 20 2009 at 3:34 PM.
After the best part of 24hrs toi tnink about it - not Aleisha's fault - no dance training and left to make inane, worthless comments that add nothing to the show. It's the PC BBC suits who have really really got it wrong. Not too late to change things - get a judge who can assess dancing - Arlene, Camilla or better still, Karen Hardy (who knows a thing or too, unlike Aleisha). I'm afraid if the suits don't do something this show is going down the tubes - 'would be a shame - viewers deserve better than this.
By Bob. Posted September 20 2009 at 3:21 PM.
ITV are again laughing at BBC for not getting behind Alesha WHAT girl...these 2 faced people where all up in this girl when she WON..YES WON..did we all forget, she was asked to be a judge she never got rid of Arlene...who BTW..needed to go..GIVE THE GIRL a chance.she is elegant looks good on ITV and PLEASE stop bringing Cheryl cole into this DEBATE she is NO Judge she just struck lucky with Te girls last year anyone who had the girls last year would have won,ALESHA MUST STAY.....will be good and go on to bigger and better things..NEXT thing you all will be saying is she 2 BLACK for TV..Forgetting her Mother is WHITE....

Alesha is not a dancer and has nothing to add, no authority on dance. Last year they were adamant that it was "about dancing, not celebrity", um, hello?? Oh, and by the way, Tess Daly seems to think she is on a pantomine, with the bold arm movements and her "the scores are in", of course they are in, the panel in right there.... But, I love Bruce..
By VJ. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:57 PM.

Leave Alesha alone she had me gripped!! I thought she was brilliant. Arlene was getting really boring as is Craig. No wonder the American version of the show wanted Bruno and Len as they are waaay more bubbly.

I dont know what all the fuss is about. Me and my family thought Alesha was fun, witty and delightful to watch!
She doesnt have as much experience as Arlene but she brings a whole new dimension to the show. I think as the weeks go on she will prove people wrong.
By ray jay. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:43 PM.
The BBC has made a big mistake.I know Alesha won but she's not a dancer and doesn't know as much as Len and Co. She is so out of her depth, for her own sake get rid.
By Jane Munro. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:19 PM.
aleshas a nice girl but well out of her depth shes a singer not a experienced dancer or dance judge you wouldnt have a cricket umpire being a referee at a football match because of her lack of knowledge she only commented on nerves and what the contestants were wearing.who ever advised her to take the job gave her really bad advice.at least the bbc have go their get out of jail card in darcey bussell.
By aly thomas. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:14 PM.
i loved strictly comed dancing- pasted tense.
its WAS about celebrity amateurs getting a grilling from experts.
Now with miss dixon its a circus.
Its like i'm a celebrity get me out of here- giving the celebs and easy ride and letting them stay in a hotel- or giving them 3 course meals.
Alesia is not qualified to give an opinion that worth listening too. This is a fact not an insult to miss dixon. Why sack a qualified and experienced judge??????? Then replace her with a pop star????
Alesia will never be any good simply because she does not have the training- bring back Arlene.
Then you can go against xfactor with a chance of winning.
I watched clips of it on the iplay- but i shan't be doing that again- DULLS-VILLE. I WANT ARLENE -VILLE.
By millie. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:06 PM.
Replace Tess daly with Alesha Dixon who could then empathise with the contestants. A judge needs to be both qualified and respected. How about Karen Hardy? Retire Brucie and find a presenter who is able to make people laugh. Perhaps change the presenter weekly. It worked for 'Have I got news for you'.

I thought scd was the only show who actually had experience judges, unlike xfactor where only louie walsh and simon cowell are there only 2 judges that know what there doing. I like alesha, but because you won on the show doesn't mean your experience enough to judge. BRING BACK ARLENE!!
By charlotte x. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:36 PM.
Give her a bit of time and she will be fine, she has just got to let her personality come out more, people need to stop hating and support a bit more.
By Michelle. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:38 PM.
I thought she was a singer not a judge!!!!!!!
Talk about fluffing your way with meaningless comments
By Mrs Val Adams. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:31 PM.
Bring back Arlene at least she knows what she is talking about and Alyesha up against Cheryl Cole no contect....Cheryl and the X-Fctor everytime this viewer will be watching ITV on a Saturday night at least they want to be fair to viewers not like the the BBC who take our license money and don't care what the viewers want very very disappointed with their attitude! To be honest SCD is same old same old, it is on too long and is starting to get very boring.

BRING BACK ARLENE
By carey de la pole. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:18 PM.
i'm taking ballroom dancing classes and could atleast learn something from Arlene about technique but i am learning nothing from Alesha. don't think i am going to bother watching any more of this fluff.
By Kristine. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:16 PM.
This is absolutely typical of the British public.........moan, moan, moan. Change is hard but get over yourselves!! It was Alesha's first show and she did very well.
By Phil Morriss. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:49 PM.
x-factor all the way lol
By buffydavampire. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:38 PM.
I pressed the mute button whenever Alesha spoke as she contributed absolutely nothing!
BRING BACK ARLENE, at least she knows what she's talking about.
By Audumla. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:41 PM.
What an almighty clanger the BBC dropped by ousting Arlene, a professional judge with many years of experience as past-it and introducing Alesha a pretty, young but inexperienced dancer who is unable to differentiate between technical merit and technical drawing!. Youth has its drwabacks which Alesha aptly portrays. Remember the old saying "You can't put an old head on young shoulders". Goodbye Alesha and please bring back Arlene-Classy/Knowledgable/Funny/and an expert of many years on dancing in ALL its forms. She is missed and the BBC Bosses should EAT HUMBLE PIE and BEG HER TO RETURN, if they are big enough.Sorry Alesha-"You are the weakest link" "GOODBYE!"
By anthony chapman. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:31 PM.
LEAVE ALESHA ALONE!!!
WHATS UP WITH ALL THIS BACKLASH!!!
BACKLASH BBC YOU HATERS NOT ALESHA!!
SHE DIDNT CHOOSE HERSELF!!
By jane. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:31 PM.
Unfortunately, Alesha copied what the other judges had to say! Didn't have an opinion of her own - mind you that could be because she is not qualified to make one?
I don't want her to fail, she will, worse decision she has ever made to sit on the panel.
Nice girl nevertheless.
By Kimbo. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:23 PM.
Alesha is a good looking girl who looks a few years younger than 30.
By Ed. Posted September 20 2009 at 12:06 PM.
Forget about Arlene and Alesha. What about Bruce? It takes him half an hour to tell a joke. Doddery you are. Its time to go Brucie
By roger. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:56 AM.
Leave Alesha alone.Arlene was past here best as a judge she was poor in the last series.Give Alesha a chance
By donald. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:51 AM.
No-one is disputing that Alesha has talent and is gorgeous etc etc. but unfortunately she doesn't have the experience to be a judge on SCD, therefore, she doesn't do the job well. Sad but true. Arlene knows her dancing, she's been doing it for years and a lot of people were sorry to see her go. Last night the show lacked something, a really big something and that was Arlene.
By Hilary. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:51 AM.
Clearly the BBC brass are clueless as to what the public want, understanding of the TV show format and clearly never heard the old adage ''IF IT AIN'T BROKE, WHY FIX IT'' It was disgusting the way they treated Arlene and sadly Alesha is the other pawn in their game. She did her best; unfortunately she does not have the experience or the come dancing professional skills to be on this panel. Please don't berate her for trying as this would be just as bad as being a clueless BBC top brass.
By vodkkatini. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:37 AM.
The clear cut difference between X Factors Dannii and Cheryl is that they actually do sing and have inside knowledge of that profession. Alesha may have won a series of Strictly but it doesnt make up for her lack of knowledge about pro ballroom dancing. She couldnt make any technical comments on any of the performances which is what viewers want. We dont need to be told whether a dance was 'fierce'. She was clueless and you could sense the tension on the panel with the other judges wondering what on earth she was going to say next.
Bring back Arlene, she's honest, KNOWS what she's talking about and has brilliant quips and one liners!!
By Shannon. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:41 AM.
It's no different than X Factor having someone like Dannii Minogue telling you youre really talented.
By Ian. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:11 AM.
I think she should be given a chance, after all she never asked for Arlene to get the sack, And i bet all these so called fans who are moaning about it tuned into the x factor!
By Laura D. Posted September 20 2009 at 11:07 AM.
give alesha a break she is doing her best x first time for everything takes everyone time to get use to things.
By hannah. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:56 AM.
who in their right mind could have put gorgeous Alesha in this position.? was it some twit at the beeb with stars in his eyes who dosent have a clue, or mayby we could put the blame on her stupid Agent? he/she needs to get that lovely girl out of there before it stars to ruin her career. We love you alesha.
ps.Ali to win this time around.
By Roy@ european school of motoring. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:57 AM.
Just rubbish, has not got a clue about any dancing moves, very uneasy to watch her ,so just switched over please bring back Arlene the expert NOW!!!!!
By annie. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:54 AM.
I love Strictly and could not wait for the news show, however Alesha was awful, did not have a clue, I felt embarrassed watching her! The BBC has made a mistake in replacing Arlene. Bring Arlene back.
By Jacky. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:54 AM.
She didnt have one interesting thing to say. A complete waste of space. The BBC have got this so wrong. "i thought your dancing was lovely" bla bla bla bla bla.
By katie. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:53 AM.
There is no substitute for experience, and that comes with age. Unfortuneately Auntie Beeb keep falling into the same trap time after time, and in all probability will continue to do so, poor value for the licence payers!!
By bob. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:31 AM.
Alesha does justthe job.
Eye candy and played safe with the scoring first time out.
BBC did the right thing - good stuff - keep going forward
By Frank. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:35 AM.
I like Alesha, she is a beautiful girl and worthy winner of the title however she is not judge material at all. This was proven beyond doubt over the weekend, she almost sent me to sleep with her comments. I am no fan of Arlene but I missed her last night, at least she knew what she was talking about and had credentials. I doubt the BBC will sack Alesha, they are never the ones to admit it when they've got it so wrong but they have BIG style
By Sapphire. Posted September 20 2009 at 10:34 AM.
I'm totally outraged at the underlying reasons for the change. Aging female expert gets binned off for younger, glamorous know-nothing. Didn't see that happening to any of the men..... The BBC should be above stunts like this. Bring Arlene back.
