SHOWBIZ legend Barbara Windsor revealed that working on EastEnders was gruelling and often left her in TEARS.

Babs, 72, who said last week she is quitting after 15 years as pub landlady Peggy Mitchell, told of the times she had gone home to husband Scott and sobbed that she wanted out.

Nervous

Babs, whose career began at 13, said it took "ages" to get used to doing eight episodes at the same time.

She said: "People think, 'She's been around for ever and doesn't get nervous.' But I do. And it gets harder as you get older."
