SO IT'S Ulrika v Tina v Mutya v Michelle.

I really ought to have learnt my lesson by now. Every series I make these grandiose predictions, and every series I end up with egg on my face. And not just any old egg. We're talking serious, six month passed their sell-by giant sized ostrich eggs.

Coolio versus Terry with maybe Tina as well, I thundered a couple of days ago. Well, one out of three ain't bad. And Coolio did get one nomination. Terry, however, got none. Ulrika got five.

Where did I go wrong? There are two possible answers. One, I'm a complete idiot. Or two, things are more complicated than I thought they were.

Okay, make that three. I'm a complete idiot AND things are more complicated.

I'll let you be the judge. The first thing to remember, of course, is that just because someone is annoying doesn't mean they are always annoying, and doesn't always mean that you will nominate them.

We only see the highlights. One argument that gets shown on the highlights in all its gory detail and the viewer remembers a week later may only have taken two minutes and may have been forgotten half an hour later when the person has told a joke, or cooked dinner, or done something to compensate.

Coolio cooks, cleans, tells jokes, and keeps the conversation going. You can forgive an awful lot for that.

Remember Charley from two years ago? Or Rex from the summer? What about Jayne from a couple of years back? She was only in for a few weeks. Joined in late, and broke the rules so many times that they were all on basic rations, kept out of the swimming pool and really given a tough time. She even broke the rules so badly one week that everyone - except her - was put up for eviction, with the result that the generally popular Nikki got kicked out.

I really couldn't stand her. So how could they? Yet when she was finally evicted, the others were gutted. In spite of everything, she livened things up.

I must remember this.

So what about the nominations? How come Coolio was allowed to nominate Michelle because he found her attractive? But LaToya wasn't allowed to nominate Ulrika because she thought she was unhappy? Yet Ben was allowed to nominate Mutya for the exact same reason?

Best of all, why did Mutya nominate Verne? She must have known no one else would. And even if he were up he wouldn't go. Moral of the story: Mutya really does want to leave. She isn't playing the game at all.

Still, she may want to go, but she won't, and nor will Ulrika, as the bookies tell us that it's almost certainly Tina who's off for an early bath come Friday.

But if she takes it well, and if we get more tears from Michelle, we might yet see the Geordie lass out first.

I know we can all feel sorry for her, and think that Coolio's a creep for picking at her, but still¿ there is a sympathy well and Michelle has drunk any number of gallons from it.

One thing I will predict, with total and supreme confidence. The second one out will be a girl.
