SINGING grandad John Neill admitted the show saved his life after his wife died of cancer last year.

Grieving John, 76, said: "I sang my heart out for my beloved Joan. She loved my voice, and losing her was the worst thing that's happened to me.

"We were married 54 years. I break down a lot when I'm on my own, but performing has helped."

John and grand-daughter Sallie Lax, 12, got a standing ovation after singing Aladdin hit A Whole New World as duo Two Grand. The former soldier, from Doncaster, South Yorks, added: "I feel on top of the world now."

Sallie said: "Nana would be so proud."
