The waiter, 24, was spurred on by the memory of his father Spencer, who died suddenly from a blocked artery in 2006, aged 57. Greg said: "He totally supported my dreams. After he died it took me a long time to get back into things. A year ago I joined a Take That tribute band but my mic was turned off because my voice is so high-pitched. I ended up snapping my fingers in the background!"
Last year he won a place at the prestigious Italia Conti theatre school but could not afford the fees. He said he got his distinctive voice from singing in the car with his mum to Whitney Houston and Charlotte Church.
"I kept the ability to sing like that even when my voice broke," he explained.

i think you have a wonderful talent greg you gave me goosebumps when i first heard you at your auditions i was quiet blown away i have never seen a singer do anything like that in my life and now i have i think you can go somewhere with your singing i voted for you on your semi finals night lots of times your performance was amazing i love it no words can decribe it ...i wish you well in your singing career i would buy every ablum if you get the chance to do one
