HELEN and Paul teetered on the brink of lust as they wrestled on the ground over a gooey, melting choc ice.

It was one of their most dangerous moments in the Big Brother house.

"Thank goodness Paul left when he did because I do feel that passion would have got the better of us," Helen told the News of the World yesterday.

"We nearly did it when we were fighting over that choc ice. He smeared the chocolate coating on me and I looked up at him and thought, 'Wow!'

"He gave me a flirty look too, then we both put it out of our minds."

The pair had another intimate encounter in the house den when they snuggled up together beneath the blankets.

Viewers could see their bodies thrashing around frantically as they giggled and laughed under the orange covers. It became one of the most celebrated scenes from Big Brother.

Helen smiled: "I was tingling all over with excitement. Paul was turned on too and came out in goosebumps. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up.

"Nothing actually happened, but it was such a special moment for both of us. I was wrapped in the arms of a man who I thought was a right bit of all right.

Passion

"It seemed so funny because in the first few weeks at the house I'd thought Paul was a bit of a lad and he did nothing for me. Then, a few weeks later, there we were locked together.

"I really didn't want to have sex on TV but you don't know what will happen when your senses are heightened.

"To be honest, what I really wanted to do in the house was to kiss him really passionately on the lips."

Helen finally got her romantic wish when she emerged from the house on Friday night and they enjoyed a long, lingering smooch after the Channel 4 cameras had stopped rolling.

Passion exploded as they partied with other pals from the Big Brother house into the early hours. Helen admitted yesterday: "We did have a lovely kiss last night."

The partying went on until around 3am before she returned to a hotel in central London.

Helen was still on Cloud Nine so she chilled out for another two hours and reflected on her time in the house with a pal from the TV company which makes Big Brother. Then she had a plate of chips and mayonnaise before going to bed at 5am.

By 8am she was up again and was soon chatting to Big Brother winner Brian Dowling, who was staying at the same hotel.

Eventually he went off shopping, defying his TV minders' instructions to stay in the hotel and saying: "I've been cooped up in that house for weeks. I need space and to stretch my legs."

Meanwhile bubbly bombshell Helen was as wacky as ever as she let her hair down with the News of the World team.

"I'm a bit spaced out because of everything that's been happening," she admitted. "When I woke up and switched on the television there I was sitting with Brian.

"I had to pinch myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming.

"But anyone who saw me on TV could see how emotional I was. You just had to look at the tears running down my cheeks."

And throughout Big Brother there have been tears running down everyone's cheeks...of laughter. Millions of viewers took completely natural, scatty, glitter-loving Helen to their hearts. Asked what she'd do if she picked up the £70 000 first prize, Helen earler admitted: "I won't win. I'd be too dangerous with all that money. It couldn't happen to me."

Ultimately she was right. OK, she might have had no idea what a kidney bean or a chick pea was. And at one point she asked: "A dove. That's a bird, isn't it?"

But she was undeniably a star.

Britain cheered on the day she pulled back the bedspread and flashed her impressive boobs- without any hint of embarrassment.

Fancy

Nor did she mind sticking her hands down her bra when the fancy took her.

And remember the animal game? Name an animal beginning with 'A'. Helen: "A bee."

Later on she got to naming an animal beginning with 'J'. Helen: Giraffe. No one was laughing at her because they were too busy laughing with her.

And then there was her self- confessed fascination for Italian designer label Gucci.

The 23 year-old went into the Big Brother diary room only days before Friday's finale and repeated that her dream was owning a Gucci handbag and shoes. When she finally emerged from the house Helen couldn't contain her joy when housemate Paul handed her £700 worth of Gucci products-including the handbag she had dreamed about.

When she noticed that Big Brother presenter Davina McCall was about to throw away the bags her Gucci products had been bought in she screamed: "Oh my God! Save the carrier bags! Save the carrier bags!"

Just like we've all done with something from a posh shop.

Best

At that moment there was no doubt. Helen was well and truly the nation's sweetheart.

And, of course, everyone was wondering about her and Paul Clarke.

"I think it was good that one of us left before the end," she told the News of the World, thinking again about the choc ice incident.

"I know that we were getting on really well when Paul went but I think one of us needed to see what life was like again in the outside world. Yes, I missed him.

"There were other people there that I got on with and who I could turn to when he got voted off, but Paul was my best friend in the house."
