Star lied about her dieting and used gastric band instead

SHE claimed she had an eating disorder. Then she said it was all down to hard dieting.

But we can reveal that rock chick Courtney Love actually suffers from a CHEATING disorder-and her scrawny new look is down to a secret gastric band.

The once-bloated widow of Nirvana legend Kurt Cobain had the op two years ago when she tipped the scales at a matronly 13 stone.

She claimed on her blog that she was inspired by Oprah Winfrey, who used a slimming drink to get thin.

Ugly

But Love's case is more like our own daytime telly queen Fern Britton-she let the world believe a strict diet had helped her lose five stone until we revealed she'd had a fat band op.

A friend of Love, 44, told the News of the World: "Courtney keeps laughing to her friends and saying, 'Everyone thinks I've had hypnosis but why bother with all that effort? All I did was check myself in and have a fat band fitted'.

"Courtney has always had problems with her appearance and is convinced she is ugly and fat. Two years ago she had a gastric band fitted at a surgery in Beverly Hills.

"Lots of doctors refused to do it as she was nowhere near obese, just a little overweight, but eventually she found one.

"And as soon as she had the operation the excess weight started to drop off her. Now she is just skin and bones and looks terrible."

Courtney's weight loss first became a talking point in August 2007 when she was photographed looking emaciated while out and about in her home town of Los Angeles.

Strict

Earlier this year she was photographed frolicking in the waves near her home in Malibu, looking so scraggy she was almost unrecognisable.

Last year when questioned about her weight loss Courtney maintained it was down to a strict diet of slimming shakes.

Ranting on her myspace blog she said: "I lost weight the hard way and people can't accept it. Whenever ANYONE loses weight by determination and grit, it's suspect.

"I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim Fast, that's how I did it."

Then following more public debate about her health, she changed her mind again and, on stage in New York, told her audience she "had to take care of my eating disorder".

That's what you call truth lite, eh CAUGHTney?

doesnt matter how she looks the fact is she did a great album called "live through this", i still think she looks nice anyway

Courtney’s fat period was a result of coming of the hard drugs it tends to happen. I don’t believe the gastric band rumour because she was pretty thin from 1997 on after she stared in The people vs Larry Flint it was only after she got clean in 2006 she put some weight on, plus the gastric operation would leave a scar I see some loose skin on her stomach (that would be toned by her yoga regime) and her K tattoo

my god she looks terrible, but it is her choice. Only thing i dont understand is why lie!!!!
I am getting the gastric bypass done i am on the list but i will never lie about it...my choice!!

what happened to free choice? Fern looks fab, but courtney was not to overweight in the first place, BUT IF THEY HAVE SURGERY WHY LIE ABOUT IT.I have had it done to make my life better n im proud to admit it.

what is the problem, what happened to free choice? If you have tried everything n the stomach band is the last choice then why not go 4 it.Fern looks great, but courtney wasnt to over weight in the first place.

if i could afford to get one i would fearn looks a lot healthier and courtney does too, but she has gone down the self obsessed route and will never be happy in her own skin.
