The I'm A Celeb star was pushed to the limit at the Peak District's Total Bootcamp in a bid to improve her fitness.
Gemma, 23, survived on 1,500 calories but used thousands more as she spent five 15-hour days on Army drills, rock-climbing, raft building, and abseiling.
Here, she opens her bootcamp diary to HANNAH BARR and DOUG WIGHT.

IN hell. 6am and am woken sharply by Sergeant Cody banging on door.

6.15am. Drill of relay races, sit-ups and running through tyres. Caught slacking. Sarge shouts and makes me do 20 press-ups on the spot.
Brekkie shock-it's only a small portion of porridge and a few berries. Am used to eggs on toast.
7.30am. Boxing work-out. Get stuck in thinking of officers as targets. Then it's a five-hour, 22-mile bike ride. Choose the hard option to prove to my footballer boyfriend Marcus (Bent) I can take the pace. But it's uphill, I sweat buckets and puke afterwards.
Lunch (veg soup) then toning exercises, and a snack (not!) of ONE strawberry and dark choc square. Fall into bunk bed (v. hard) at 9pm shaking, sweating and close to tears.
Calories eaten: 1,500. Calories used: 2,900. Fat burned: 1,400 calories.
PAINFUL 6am wake-up call again. Struggle to get up. Am 10 minutes late- and in trouble.

Sarge gives me 30 press-ups punishment. The girls cheer me on which gets me through. Then it's left, right, left, right, with 45 minutes' marching before a jog.
My reward? A measly bowl of porridge and linseed followed by a 10-mile walk to burn 1,500 calories. Helloooo, that's my entire daily intake.
After lunch (chicken and veg soup) it's back to drills - carrying logs, crawling under tyres, and scrabbling through rigging.
My gym routine (five times a week) is being put to shame as I use muscles I didn't know I had. I thought I was fit. But my whole body is aching, I'm bruised and long for home comforts. Fat burned: 1,650 calories (v.g)
I'VE learned my lesson and am punctual for morning drill. No more punishments for me!

Then it's step aerobics before rock climbing-up an 80ft sheer face. Wonder how the heck I'm going to get to the top. Start my ascent but soon realise my upper body strength is severely lacking. Get there in end, but my arms are trembling-I'm not a Gladiator girl yet.
Next, I've got to abseil off a bridge. This has to be easier as I don't mind heights, but feel distinctly queasy as I look at the 100ft drop over a gorge.
Press on and get into my harness, then lower myself from the bridge. Help! Help! Help! The descent takes five minutes but feels like forever.
My legs are like jelly when I reach the bottom. But am spurred on and race up the hill to have another go.
Back at base I celebrate with . . . an oatcake spread thinly with houmous (am more partial to a bag of Haribos).
Then it's time for an assault course-scrambling under nets, leaping through tyres, balancing on planks and roaming the fields with a gun (well, it's a bamboo stick really) seeking out the enemy. "C'mon Jungle Gemma!" they all scream. More like I'm At Boot Camp . . . Get Me Out Of Here.
Back at base I tuck into cod and salad for dins. We've been told to eat little and often. But would rather stuff my face with a big bowl of pasta. Fall into bed hungry and dream of chocolate.
Fat burned: 1,100 calories.
MUCH easier to get up this morning. Also feeling fitter and stronger. After morning drill do an hour of legs, bums and tums toning exercises.
Feel like every muscle is being stretched to its limit. But things are getting easier. My legs feel less like dead weights and I'm full of energy. It's team building day as we try to cobble together a raft. It's like being back in the jungle as we fix the planks on the barrels.
Get off to a good start as we glide onto the lake then start paddling like crazy. But halfway across, I can feel my side sink. I end up soaking wet down to my knickers, but we're in hysterics.
Back at camp I gobble up a tuna and salad dinner and-hallelujah-a special treat of a single piece of dark chocolate.
Go to bed feeling relatively satisfied-but my stomach must have shrunk to the size of a pea.
Fat burned: 1,300 calories.
LAST day treat-a cooked brekkie. Hooray! It gives me the boost to get through the final drill.
Going to miss the discipline of this next week rather than dragging myself to the gym and relying on my own motivation.
The assault course that follows is top. The sergeants psych us up so I believe we have to fend off the enemy. My heart's pounding as I reach for a grenade (tennis ball) and fling it into the firing line (bucket) then race back to base.
I've made it. Have survived boot camp and feel better than ever. Can polish off 115 sit-ups in two minutes (79 on day one), and 96 press-ups in the same time-more than double what I could at the start.
And guess what? I've lost 6lb. I'm 5ft 9in and now weigh 9st 12lb. My hips have slimmed half an inch, I've lost two inches off my waist and have dropped a dress size to an 8.
Love handles-pah! Gone! Bust-just an inch smaller (phew!) I feel great.
Fat burned: 1,350 calories.
