Steps Claire loses 5 STONE to lead star fitness DVD battle

STEPS star Claire Richards is leading the battle of the celeb fitness DVDs after her regime saw her lose a massive 5 STONE in under a year-that's around 5-6-7-8 pounds a month!

Our pictures show the singer and dancer, 31, is half the woman she was-down from a jumbo SIZE 20 to SIZE 10 in 11 months.

Claire weighed in at 8½st in her Steps days, but the pounds piled on when the band split in 2002. And after she had son Charlie in 2007, Claire hit a hefty 15½st.

She said: "After leaving Steps the regular dance routines came to an end. I literally went home, turned on the TV and sat there for five years and ate and ate."

"I went into my pregnancy overweight so it wasn't a case of springing back into shape afterwards."

When Charlie's dad Reece Hill, 40, proposed in January this year she vowed to walk down the aisle at least a size 12-not size 20.

Claire - whose hits included the dance favourite 5-6-7-8 - and her trainer devised the 5 Step Fat Attack. That, plus a huge cut in calories, helped her hit the target.

Now her exercise plan is going up against Christmas fitness DVDs from the likes of Coleen Nolan, Kelly Brook, Denise van Outen, Davina McCall, Letitia Dean and Jayne Torvill.

Now 10½ st and size 10, Claire said: "I'm bigger than I was in my Steps days, but I have a body shape I never had before. I feel great."

Well i watched the programme on how she lost all her weight and was amazed and i have to agree that getting married is a real motivator in loseing weight it's a shame that it's takes something like a proposal to make you reconsider your weight and health.
Although Claire's weight loss inspried me to get on track for weight loss for my wedding i firmly beleive that to do it via simple regimes like walking the dog, taking longer routes, driving and not walking, eating less and having a more balanced diet , generally just living a healthier active lifestyle is much more rewarding than paying to either have a personal trainer , taking diet pills or even buying a DVD.
So good on you Claire you have inspired me but I won’t be buying the DVD.

Claire actually only worked out 4 times a week. She started off using a gym, but than went to training at home so that she could be at home with her son instead of leaving him at a creche. She also walked into town with her son a lot instead of driving.
I don't really mind these DVD's, if it gives someone motivation to go something then great.
A little bit of regular exercise and healthy eating can do wonders for you.

To be honest she maybe healthier now at 10st but she looked prettier when she was heavy, theres nothing wrong with a little weight to fill out some curves but you do need to find that healthy balance.

I won't be buying this DVD as i don't think any of them are miracle workers and they just pile money into their pockets - i've lost 3 stone in 8 months just from cutting calories, a friend of mine has lost a staggering TEN stone since June last year just by cutting cals and walking instead of driving...it can be done without shelling out £15 for a DVD.
Well done Clare on your weight loss, you do look great!

thank u chris wallace i agree with him who in the REAL WORLD has the time to go to a gym 7 days a week and have somebody there helping them all the time no chance i wouldnt even waist my money buying them dvds theres no point unless ur unemplyed and have all the time and money in the world to do it, but unfortunaly i have to go out 5 days a week and work.

What is wrong with you people? Just eat less and exercise more. Hardly rocket science is it?

By Chris Wallace.. Posted December 14 2008 at 9:31 AM.

anybody who can afford a personal trainer and devote 7 days a week to a weightloss programme will easily loose 5stone. however if she worked full time 9-5, then came home to look after a family and didn't have the finances for a personal trainer it would be a completely different story. 20 mins copying this DVD every evening will NOT have the same effect. Sorry, Claire does look good but she doesn't live in my world.
