THE darkest secrets of Mel B's husband Stephen Belafonte are exposed now in worrying detail only hours after the couple renewed their wedding vows in Egypt.

Belafonte's ex Nicole Contreras sensationally tells how the rat BEDDED HER behind the 33-year-old Spice girl's back and BEGGED her to take him back just before his marriage.

She reveals the full extent of the crazed DRUNKEN VIOLENCE she suffered at the OBSESSIVE and JEALOUS TV producer's hands . . .

How it was so bad she had to call POLICE on several occasions . . .

And how he tried to STRANGLE her and THREATENED the male friends he found in her phone book.

As Mel B and her husband continue their star-studded Middle Eastern wedding blessing party today with a Red Sea cruise, Nicole has this chilling Egyptian prophecy for her:

"I fear for her because a leopard does not change his spots. He seems utterly charming-but I'm afraid it won't be long before his masks slips again and she sees what a monster he really can be."

Talking to a close friend, Nicole said she was still seeing Belafonte, 33, the father of her four-year-old daughter Giselle, after their six-year relationship ended . . . and when he fell for Mel.

"We were still on and off and would sleep together from time to time-but one night he turned to me and said, 'Nikki I've met someone who is very famous and very rich and wants to marry me but if you will have me back then I'll forget it'.

Nightmare

"He wouldn't say who she was but said, 'She is so rich she could change my life'. It was then I knew I had reached the end of the road with him. We slept together for the last time that night and the next thing I knew weeks later he was married to Mel B."

Later, Nicole was staggered when the couple said they had married after being best friends for SEVEN YEARS.

She said: "Stephen had been a huge part of my life for SIX YEARS and never mentioned her. I wonder if Mel would have married him if she knew when they met he was still sleeping with me."

Those six years had been a nightmare of violence and obsessiveness-an ordeal she would hate to see the singer go through.

Nicole, now 33, was a bikini model when they met in 2002. "At the start Stephen was like he is with Mel at the moment-he totally bowled me over with his charm and fun personality.

"But then the posessiveness started. I would be away on photo shoots and Stephen would call my hotel room hundreds of times a night demanding: 'Who the f*** are you with Nikki?

"On one shoot we were all staying in a house the producer had rented. Stephen even rang him and said, 'I'm going to hunt you down if I find out you have slept with Nicole'."

"Before long he was stealing my phone. He'd call every man in my phone book and demand to know whether they had dated me. I've never known anyone so jealous."

Soon Belafonte became violent too. Nicole told her pal: "One time we went out partying in Hollywood and Stephen was convinced a man in the bar was eyeing me up, which was total rubbish. Stephen followed him out of the bar and beat him senseless."

Then he turned on her as his drinking got out of control.

Nicole added: "Maybe Mel hasn't seen that side of him yet. But Stephen would think nothing of drinking 20 bottles of beer followed by shot after shot of whisky almost every night of the week.

"Once after I'd had a night out with the girls he was waiting outside my apartment. He grabbed my wrists and started yelling at me, 'Who the f*** have you been out with all night?'.

"He looked so wired I was afraid for my life-so I called the police. He ran off. The next day he rang up crying and apologising and soon he'd wormed his way back in with me."

She moved in with him in Beverly Hills thinking that might give him more security in the relationship. It didn't.

"Six nights a week he would go out and get totally wasted then come home and terrorise me," says Nicole. "Things weren't helped by Stephen's lack of work. He told me he was a successful music producer but he isn't really. Occasionally he would land a job but as fast as the money came in he would spend it. Once he blew $20,000 on a Rolex despite having no money in the bank."

Soon she discovered Belafonte was CHEATING on her.

Nicole went on: "Stephen would says he was at business meetings but I found he was seeing someone. I saw them having dinner. He denied he was sleeping with her but I just knew."

Then came a ferocious attack on Nicole in May 2003 that landed him in court. "We were rowing at home and Stephen charged at me and grabbed me round the neck with both hands.

"He was trying to strangle me and I really thought this time he was going to kill me. His eyes were bulging and he was screaming at me. I knew I had to get away and when he went to smash my phone again I ran into the bathroom and locked the door."

She called the police and this time the bruises on her neck were so bad Belafonte was arrested.

"They locked him up and he was charged with battering me and got community service. Unbelievably we still stayed together.

"He attended anger management classes-but I can tell Mel he did not change one bit."

Two years after their daughter Giselle was born, she moved out. "He was no help-he never changed a single nappy," said Nicole. "Within days he was living in an apartment bought for him by a wealthy Persian woman."

Belafonte married Mel B in June last year. Yesterday they renewed their wedding vows at the exclusive Jaz Makadi Golf Hotel in Madinat Makadi. Mel invited showbiz pals like Fearne Cotton, Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding, and Denise Van Outen.

But Nicole is not impressed. "All Stephen cares about is money and marrying Mel was the golden ticket he had always dreamed of.

"Now I pray, for her sake, that he has changed his ways. But I doubt it very much."

This movie has won 8 Oscars , does it really deserve that, one thing is for sure if it was released in India it would have probably flop.

I think it's a nice movie, small budget comparing to other Hollywood movies, nice songs .. What are your view, does it really deserve 8 Oscars or nothing at all ?

I know Stephen and Nicole, aka Nikki very well. First of all, the purpose of the renewal of the vows, was so that their family and close friends could attend their wedding since they eloped initially. Melanie is not an idiot...if Stephen was such an *******, she'd have seen thru it by now and not have planned such an elaborate wedding in Egypt. Truth is that they truly love each other, no matter what outsiders say. Now, on to Nikki....basically she loves the spotlight, and what better way to get her 15minutes than to reveal Stephen's "abusive ways" and how horrible of a person he is? Nikki, get real. You are only mad b/c Stephen has moved on, and u are alone, desperately seeking stardom. Pay more attention to Giselle...you know - your daughter who is neglected b/c of her star-struck mother who cares more about being in the spotlight, than raising her own child. Nikki, grow up and find your own "stardom"...your lies are getting very old.

When these (so called) celebs announce that they are 'renewing' their marriage vows after being married for a matter of months, there is always some trouble waiting in the wings. It's as is they have to try and convince themselves that they didn't make a mistake in the first place! What on earth is the point to it? It's almost like the latest 'must have' accesory, absolutely meaningless, shallow and pathetic.

There's been a rumour going around gossip sites for a while about a british worldwide famous (lapse)singer who tried to get money out of a spouse when she was broke (Eddie Mu) then when he found out she rebounded and took the first guy who looked at her(Belafonte), sadly if gossip sites are to be believed B has used nearly all Mbs custodial money and that's why they are doing this second wedding thing.

Why any woman hangs around after the first show of violence from a man is beyond me.
I would say to Nicole you are well rid of him and choose your next partner a bit more carefully.
As for renewing wedding vows I have always thought this a strange tacky showy dont know what to do next kind of senario, surely if your happy you dont have to try to convince the world by renewing vows.

So true, Vee. One of my friends is really close to Nicole (I've met her a few times as well), and she is a really sweet, down-to-earth person. Stephen has really put her threw the ringer many times both physically, mentally and spiritually, but lucky she got out in time. I wish her nothing but the best in life.
