THE Beeb is planning to sex up Strictly by recruiting a hunky new American star.

Bosses are in talks with US Dancing With The Stars pro Derek Hough about joining the UK show next year.

The blond 24-year-old, a former judge on BBC1's DanceX, recently visited the UK to see Strictly being filmed. The move is part of plans to makeover the show after it lost out to ITV's X Factor in the ratings.

Derek, who is a former world champ in Latin American dance, won last year's Dancing With The Stars with stunning TV presenter Brook Burke.

A Strictly source revealed: "They'll pair him with a hot female celeb to make sparks fly. The veterans like Brendan Cole and James Jordan will feel very threatened."
