REAL-LIFE soap sweethearts Tina O'Brien and Ryan Thomas have ENDED their relationship following his recent car smash, we can reveal.

Friends say it was the "final straw" for the Coronation Street couple, who have a baby and have been together six years.

Cops are investigating allegations that Ryan, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, fled after ploughing his Chrysler into a lamppost at 4am last Saturday. A friend was found at the scene.

A close pal said: "Tina and Ryan just haven't been getting on of late. The crash and the subsequent police activity has taken its toll on them. It's the straw that's broken the camel's back.

"The rows have been extremely bad. The only contact they've had with each other for days is by text to talk about their daughter Scarlett." Another friend said Tina, 26 - who played gymslip mum Sarah Platt until 2007 - was devastated.

Upset

She and Ryan, 25, met on the set of the Manchester soap, and Scarlett was born in October last year.

The friend said: "Ryan needs to learn to grow up. Tina is very upset."

Ryan went to a Manchester police station on Friday, and was quizzed for an hour. He was not arrested or charged and is set to be questioned again.

Following the city cente crash, paramedics treated a man for shock. He was arrested for drink-driving.

In 2006 Ryan had to pay for damage after he and pals wrecked a hotel room in Shropshire. The same year he was involved in a mass brawl outside a bar.

Tina will be better off without him as he comes across as still a little boy. She needs a man who will act responsibly towards her and Scarlett. The future will be OK for Tina as she is a strong person.

How long before Jason and Tina are really an item?

Grow up you silly little boy and face your responsibilities. Stop acting like a prize prat or you will end up on the scrap heap like all the other big headed loosers who thought themselves better than they really were.

Sorry but how can they be a "top soap couple" or a " Corrie pair" when she isn't even in Corrie? - Thank God

Supprised it lasted 6 years. He's a kid !! (and he'll regret losing this babe !!) ... even when people have it all - they still want more !

Ryan: What do you think of this shiny suit Tina?

Tina: I think you look great in it.

...from there on their relationship was doomed to failure.

Hope they can be mature about it for the sake of their daughter, can't help but feel the child was a 'band aid baby' after the slanging matches and split rumours that had circled for a while and unfortunately the pressure told in the end. Hope his career doesn't go down the toilet because of this but if it does, then he's only got himself to blame - as a responsible father he should have thought more about his actions...some men never grow up!
