There was no sign of a fairytale future as she grew up on a tough council estate in Newcastle, one of five children.
Cheryl has revealed how her struggling family were so poor she wore CAST-OFF CLOTHES and played with SECONDHAND TOYS.
"We didn't have any privileges," recalled the X Factor judge about to hit No 1 tonight with her own debut solo single Fight For This Love. I remember living on baked beans, eggs and bread - if it wasn't out of date. If we got a McDonald's or a Chinese takeaway, oh my God, that was a treat, a luxury, because it was costing my mother a fortune.
"I'd get a Barbie that was four years out of fashion from a girl in the street who didn't want it any more. And I'd get hand-me-downs from a girl up the road who had everything she wanted. Then she'd be like, 'Ha ha! Cheryl's got my jumper on!' "
But today, with everything she ever dreamed of - a glittering career, success on Britain's top TV show, marriage to ace footballer Ashley Cole - Cheryl unveils her troubled start in life in a new book.

Times were hard. Her older brother Andrew was hooked on sniffing glue. She recalls how the whole house stank of the stuff - even now the smell makes her feel sick.
And when, as 19-year-old brunette Cheryl Tweedy, she took that first step to break the mould and grab her place in showbiz she admits she was in a very fragile state - reeling from the drugs death of a close friend and recovering from a destructive relationship with a junkie.
In Girls Aloud's book, Dreams That Glitter published by Corgi, Cheryl reveals she was so low when she saw the 2002 ad for Popstars: The Rivals she only applied because she felt she had nothing to lose.

"Before the audition I'd been clinically depressed and dangerously underweight," says Cheryl. 26. "I was having terrible panic attacks and suffered from anxiety, and as a result my appetite went. Any food used to make my stomach churn. I was 5st 11lb at my worst point, like a walking corpse."
She'd seen the doctor, had counselling and was prescribed anti-depressants.
But when the time came for her to audition, she was still more scared than she'd ever been in her life.
Incredibly, despite her poor health, Cheryl got through and made it to the live finals - fighting for a place in the band which would battle it out with the boy winners for the coveted Christmas No 1.
As the tension mounted over the weeks a nurse on the show had to give Cheryl an anti-hysteria tablet to calm her down. But despite her terror she made it. A week later Girls Aloud were top of the charts with Sound of the Underground.
Then within a month Cheryl's world came crashing down again. She was charged with a racially-aggravated assault on nightclub toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa in Guildford, Surrey.
Cheryl says she was feeling euphoric, having the time of her life and celebrating her success with champagne. Then she went to the ladies' and picked up some lollipops. As she reached for some change to pay all hell broke loose.

Cheryl was accused of stealing, retaliated and the cops were called. She insists she first heard the allegation of a racial element when answered her police bail a week later.
Cheryl now reveals that as she prepared to fight a court battle to clear her name, she offered to QUIT Girls Aloud to save her four bandmates' any trouble.
She admits she felt the anxiety creeping back - like her career, and everything she'd aspired and worked for was now at risk. She was desperately conscious that her four colleagues' lives were also involved so she said she would leave the band if they wanted her to. She did not want to hold them back.
In October 2003 Cheryl was convicted of the assault but cleared of any racial element. Now the star knows the experience, though traumatic, has made her a stronger person.
After moving down to London Cheryl says she was so homesick she cried herself to sleep for two years. She admits feeling completely out of her depth and hated eating out in top places because she couldn't recognise anything on the menus.
"I remember going to a really posh restaurant - Zilli Fish - with the record company to celebrate getting to No 1," she says. "I had a goat's cheese tartlet because I love cheese and it was the only thing I understood on the menu. It was the vilest thing I'd ever tasted!" After a string of hits Cheryl found herself pursued by Chelsea star Ashley Cole.

But she resisted his pleas, inisisted she was not interested and vowed she was never going to give him her phone number. That was until she saw a psychic who made her think differently. . .
He told Cheryl that her soccer suitor would be good for her and advised she MUST date him! And Cheryl says she has never looked back. The couple wed in July 2006 but by Christmas 2007 the marriage had hit a troubled patch. Nevertheless Cheryl is no quitter and She and Ashley, 28, worked things out.
"When I said my wedding vows I meant them - for life, for better, for worse," she explains. "People make mistakes, stuff happens. I believe everyone should be a free spirit. Even in my marriage, Ashley's a free spirit. I'm not his keeper. I'm not Mrs Perfect, I've made mistakes."
Putting their marriage woes behind them, Cheryl capped an incredible turnaround in her fortunes when she landed the role of judge on X Factor alongside Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh - Girls Aloud's original mentor.
Although she was an instant success, guiding Alexandra Burke to triumph last year, she admits she was terrified when she took up her new role last year - and coming face to face with Louis again.

But Cheryl reveals Louis actually admitted feeling guilty over ditching her and the rest fo the band after their initial success.
Now Cheryl vows she bears no grudges and boasts she is the best equipped judge to know what the contestants are going through.
And the highlight of this year's show has been her own stunning performance of Fight For This Love last Sunday, watched by 14.8 million viewers.
"I feel very fortunate," says Cheryl. "But I'll never take it for granted because I have this thing in the back of my mind that one day I'm going to wake up back in Newcastle and it will all have been a crazy dream."

What a load of rubbish. I am surprisedher Mother allowed her to make these statements. It is my opinion that people who rent a nice Council house don't realise how lucky they are and If Chery's family was so impoverished then I take it they would be on Income Support and would be living rent free? Therefore lucky Cheryl - having ballet lessons eh? I was raised in a lovely council house in a very prestigious area in Newcastle on Tyne, everyone was proud working class, extremely house proud kept neat gardens, were well fed, good cooks, with no worries about repairs to the house etc., the Council saw to that. I will say this - my late Mother's council house was far superior to my own bungalow which I own and struggle to maintain.

are cherly u r well cute and can u have kids?
By paige.. Posted November 1 2009 at 11:05 PM.
I can't even believe what some of you are saying. Cheryl was asked about her childhood and she's just saying the truth. Those of you saying your life was or is just like that, are as bad as you are making out she is - saying she wants sympathy...what are you doing. At least she did something about it. Why didn't you get off your arse and do something. DON'T COMPLAIN!.
She is an example of what you can achieve, no matter what sort of background you come from. If you work at it you will actually get somewhere.
You go on about her punching the toilet attendant but to be fair, she was drunk. Doesn't everyone do stupid things when they are drunk. Many have done worse than just punch someone. I bet you have done something as bad or worse when you were drunk. Think about it.
I think Cheryl is an amazing singer and person who has achieved so much in her life already, and I can't wait to see what else she does in the future. I hope to meet her one day, and I am glad that she has a better life now because she deserves it. WELL DONE CHERYL!!!

leave her alone! she is lucky she is still alive today!
By Ashley.. Posted October 29 2009 at 3:13 PM.
so poor,yet had ballet lessons?seriously?
its storys like these that make me sick.
there are people out their much worse off than she was.what about those starving?why dont someone give them a few grand to sell a story?no one wants to know about those that are suffering, its all about the celebs.whoever feels sympathy for her is seriously living in a bubble.

What a load of rubbish!
I'm the same age and I too grew up on a Newcastle Council estate. My father worked hard but still suffered from redundancy and I was brought up on benefits for four or five years. There were three kids and we never went without, we definitely never lived on beans on toast! The estates were drug ridden too; but that doesn't make me a victim. In fact I now a [self supporting] student and live in a Middle-Class area.
How can she claim a background of poverty when she went to ballet classes? Stephen Gately came from true poverty, yet was always too modest to make a big thing of it.
Stop disrespecting Newcastle! It hasn't just stepped out of a Dicken's novel; it is full of hard working people and a beautiful city. She is embarrased by her roots and Newcastle is ashamed of her!
By Feona Bowey.. Posted October 26 2009 at 10:54 PM.
I think the moral of the story here is ' a hard working young woman who had a dream and achieved it'. I think if anything, people would find her story inspiring and not just sit back, hating their lives and trashing on her! If you don't like your life, work hard to change it. (like she did!)
By Melissa.. Posted October 26 2009 at 3:43 PM.
And?
She isn't the only one who had a tough upbringing.
My Mum had very little money but she always made sure that us kids were fed and clothed, and i'm not ashammed to say that some of our clothes were from jumble sales.
It made me appreiciate the sacrifices my mum went through to see us kids were ok.
Maybe now that she has it all, she should take some time out and realise just how lucky she is.

JEALOUS, JEALOUS, JEALOUS - What a load of SADDOS you lot are!!!!!! She is just giving you an insight into her background, how she was reared, and how grateful she is now. She hasn't done it to rub anyone's nose in it. She's stating how it was for her - no-one else. Get a life !!!!!!!!!
By Rosie.. Posted October 26 2009 at 11:17 AM.
Well done Cheryl. People will always be jealous. Ignore them. You made it big and you deserve it. Stacey to win by the way, lovely girl from good ol Dagenham. Beautiful voice too.

Poverty Cheryl ? Go to the the Philippines if you want to see REAL poverty no welfare state there if you cant work to earn money you starve !
By john.. Posted October 26 2009 at 9:18 AM.
Whats wrong with baked beans on toast? She should come out here to South Africa and I could show her what poverty and starvation really looks like.
By jez.. Posted October 26 2009 at 9:12 AM.
you were very unlucky cheryl but your making up for it know with your beaterful body figure with every thing you want its not the past that matters but the future
By jake .. Posted October 26 2009 at 8:08 AM.
Yea BUT when i was growin up we were so poor 8 of us kids shared a cardboard box under a motorway bridge ate dry bread and got clothes from jumble sales
good luck to her she's done ok..don't really need to write a book about it though

By cornish bumkin.. Posted October 26 2009 at 1:11 AM.
Yeah..get a grip love, some peeps still HAVE to live like you did..they didn't meet a football player....thats life...good luck to you, but please....DON'T RUB PEOPLE'S NOSES IN IT...there's plenty of peeps out there who still live like "you" did...and survived!
By jane 41.. Posted October 26 2009 at 12:09 AM.
I really do not think that Cheryl is doing herself any favours here. She has basically recounted a typical working class upbringing! There are thousands of families around the country where children are fed 'baked beans and bread' - is that baked beans on toast, a meal that so many people eat!!! Many children have second hand clothes and toys, why would you throw perfectly good things away if a younger member of your family could have them, children's clothes last 3 months max?? McDonald's meals should be a treat to children, most families cannot afford to take their children out to eat every week, Cheryl has been fantastically lucky to have been taken from obscurity and given her fairy tale lifestyle based on what? Her singing ability! Doubt it, her looks and the fact that she pulled a premiership footballer are behind her success. The rest of us have to work hard all week for a fraction of what she and her her husband earn in a day. She now looks back on her upbringing with embarassment and shame while still claiming to be retain her working class roots and pride. Meanwhile the rest of us continue to struggle with the credit crunch, fearful of our job security and struggling to pay our bills, can Cheryl please stop whinging about things and realise how lucky she is and stop moaning about here upbringing which does not sound so bad. If lady luck had not shined on her so strongly, she would of been living a life among us mere mortals, a life she is now so far removed from.
By John Elllis.. Posted October 26 2009 at 12:05 AM.
always a sob story just to make an impact, then there will be a book, then another book, and then another, same old crap and she cant sing boring......
By joan shaw.. Posted October 25 2009 at 11:40 PM.
Dear me, i still eat beans and out of date bread, get a grip
By itsme again.. Posted October 25 2009 at 11:34 PM.
She is lucky that she had a choice to eat the bread if it was not out of date. I am sad to say that even in this day and age and while i'm working I still end up with beans on toast or boiled egg sandwiches and if any of those items are out of date I still eat them I can't believe that cheryl's family had the choice to throw them out if they were out of date. Maybe I should write a book about the hell hole I live in!!!!!!!
By jamie.. Posted October 25 2009 at 11:04 PM.
i think i could hear the world's smallest violin playing ever so softly as i read it. I'm the same age as her and I'm lived on council estates half my life, living in a normal neighbourhood didnt really make much difference to my family either, when you're poor...your poor. Most of my meals were basic stuff like eggs and beans, all my toys were hand me downs, and i didnt know where my clothes were from i just wore them. All my siblings had the same, so did my cousins, and to my knowledge most of my friends too. thats just how life was growing up in the 80s and 90s for most people. this stuff just seems like a lame attempt at gaining public sympathy, i wasnt spoilt as a child so every buy my new single, the world owes me something, every one deserves success and i'd be happy for anyone who gets it, but this is a pathethic tried and tested technic celebrities use of releaving their fans of their hard earned money. shame sympathy for the people who deserve it, you'd think she grew up in the third world and sold into slavery or something...
By dean.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:42 PM.
we still have baked beans if they are 6 months out of date and bread a day out of date, and weve still got a life!
By SARAH FROM NOTTS.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:38 PM.
I find it quite strange, the timing of all these nonsense.
While She was auditioning for whatever it was called,She dint look like She survived on beans and whatever else She is claiming?I mean no offence but She was quite chubby like someone who had a 5 course meal a day so all this baked beens bizness must be purely for self pity and self promotion to number one which is fine coz we all know one does not have to be a great singer to get to the top,if they know a few people in the bizness.
I believe She must be on the baked beans diet now
By Fiona.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:25 PM.
i don't believe this for 1 second.....seeing as she done ballet when she was young as well featuring in numerous television adverts when she was younger as well.... i don't think the extent of her poverty is as bad as she's making out....especially about mcdonals being a luxury, i think that may be a bit far fetched.
By chickenpops.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:03 PM.

I feel Cheryl is trying to get the general public to relate to her more. I feel more more people would relate to her if she was a bit more down to earth. Cheryl you have done well for yourself and I wish you all the future success even though you come across as being a bit superfical and up yourself.

she has got all she has from the nation
its her turn to give back to the people, she owes a lot,she aint entertaining, just trying her luck,as a judge on x factor she can do some good, hopefully, but would she do it without getting paid?
By palo.. Posted October 25 2009 at 6:09 PM.
Give the girl a break.I think she's just getting her point across that she wasn't always around money and therefore didnt and couldnt have everything she wanted,ok maybe it could have been written better but come on.I grew up in Glasgow,we made our own entertainment and i wore my older sisters hand-downs,BUT i wouldnt say it was poverty. As my mum always said we had what we needed but not what we wanted.I think Cheryl looks fab and good luck to her, some of these comments just smack of downright jealousy.
By Janice Glasgow,.. Posted October 25 2009 at 6:08 PM.
There is nothing worse when celebs come out with their sob stories.
Trying living in the real world, meet a few ppl who have real probs and who really have NOTHING.
i can not stand cheryl, i am from near newcastle where she is from and it makes me mad that she talks about council estates as if they are a bad thing. i was brought up on one from being 5 til i was 21 and left home. so shut up cheryl. idiot
By Laura M R .. Posted October 25 2009 at 6:02 PM.
Ppl need to cut her some slack.
All she has said is what her childhood was like.
Agreed, many are brought up in council housing and do well for themselves - I am one of those.
What is wrong in her telling people what she went through (even if its not as bad as some people have experienced) if it means that maybe a handful of youngsters realise that if they really try, and work against the odds, they can be successful.
I wish her continued success. She is a very intelligent and talented young woman. Less of the jealously, more of the understanding please.
By Miss T.. Posted October 25 2009 at 5:46 PM.
she is boring,,you should appreciate people who donate to the charity not the ones who got all the support from their nation to live like a kings selling such a crap, she owes it to the nation!!
By palo.. Posted October 25 2009 at 5:26 PM.
personally i think all of you who have slated cheryl need to grow up. like every other celebrity we poke are noses into there lives b4 and after there famous, if we didnt none of you haters wud of read the article. shes a young succesful act, whos going sumwhere in life so how about letting her get on with it. and her getting number one i had nothing 2 do with this article, people have bin buying and downloading all week. wish her all the best! xxx

There is no-way Im jealous of Cheryl if what she says is poverty she is living in cukoo land omg,I cant believe she as the nerve to say going without she as no idea.Going without is living on the street having no food eating out of dust-bins oh you people who are feeling sorry for her look around Manchester,Liverpool,London and you will see real poverty so dont say Cheryl as had it bad for she as no idea she wouldnt have survived thats truth.

I think its a real shame that theres so many haters in this world. Cheryl is a great role model for young people, all shes doing is letting people know that no matter what background you come from, you can achieve your dreams if you work at it. Just because shes beautiful and successful people will just slate her for that reason .. shallow people !
By karen.. Posted October 25 2009 at 4:16 PM.
she doesnt want sympathy from anyone the papers asked her the question of what her life was like and she answered
yeh there are people who are in more poverty than what she was in but its still poverty and noone should have to go through that its good that she has turned her life around and can help others who need it
you keep going cheryl your amazing and deserve everything you have
By brodwen.. Posted October 25 2009 at 4:02 PM.
Hey Cheryl,
Lucky you, at least you had a doll to play with there are millions children around the world who is living in the street. Just please do not embrasure yourself.
With your millions at least you can do something to those children. You don't have to go that far, just go to council houses here in UK and change their lives.
Best Wishes!
By PoorRichMe.. Posted October 25 2009 at 3:55 PM.
why are we supposed to feel sorry for you, you didn!t do too bad if you had eggs! lots of people come from council estates, but we are not all after sympathy like you.think of other people for a change.you are too wrapped up in yourself.
By cat woman.. Posted October 25 2009 at 2:55 PM.
Yeah_yeah_yeah ,Bored-bored-bored.Stop ya whingeing and just get on with it,there are so many people out there who have had it just as bad if not worse, and you don't hear them bleating on about it.Your one of the luckey ones so get on with what you have to do and don't become a (lets feel sorry for poor ole me)dick.

By satinder.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:56 PM.
all you haters are so pathetic, its embarrassing.
i feel sorry for you that you have nothing to do with your day than write a massive essay on someone you've never met, or ever will meet about their life. she was poor, and now shes not, get over it. this isnt some "oh i want sympathy" thing.
shes great, end of.
how about all you pikeys complaining about how poor you are get off your arses and make a change rather than slateing her. jealousy gets you knowever ok
By Louise.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:55 PM.
Guys, you dont what poverty means, the lucky one are those who can even have their stories or comment get published here. I live here in Africa where even the beans are hardly easly to come by but we keep going so the poverty thing is real and unfortunetly the poorest of the poor dont feel and the poor feel it and the richer are getting richer and the poor and getting poorer every day. The remedy is to share whatever little one has otherwise, even the baked beans are not easy to come by these days.
By Yasiin.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:41 PM.
Poor Cheryl..... and now with all her millions she still cant buy her dad a house and get him out of a run down council house that he still lives in.
By Fiona.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:41 PM.
WOW! She's only giving the story of her upbringing and yet she is being slated for meerly stating how it was. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the people who are putting her down, are using the but 'I have it so much harder than you ever did' card. Mmmm....but have you moved your backside and actually done something about it?
By Lisa.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:26 PM.
We couldn`t afford beans on toast, try just toast with marge.Did she ever have to get her clothes from a jumble sale ?I did.She doesn`t know the meaning of poverty.
By San.. Posted October 25 2009 at 12:47 PM.
'We lived on baked beans and bread - if it wasn't out of date'
Enough of this sob story - a lot of pensioners still have to live like this in this day and age.
By Jan.. Posted October 25 2009 at 12:25 PM.
Give Cheryl some slack. She's an amazing performer and she's really made something of herself... she should be so proud.
Jealousy jealousy its a nasty thing

nowt wrong with hand me downs- thats all i ever wore. plenty of us grew up in similar backgrounds me and my sister for example. our mum couldnt afford to heat the house and we definately didnt get to go ballet classes!
maybe instead of whinging bout her tough upbringing she should count her blessings that with hard work and support- and- *cough cough* talent- she made her life better and got out of that council estate.
bet most of the kids she went to school with are still struggling to make ends meet...

No mention here of the fact that both her siblings have criminal records for serious assaults which resulted in long custodial sentences.

Cheryl! You are truly inspiring. You started off as someone who looked forward to a one pound meal. And now look at you, your gorgeous, nice, and have everything you've wanted. I think that just proves you don't have to start off as a billion - millionarie, you take baby steps there.
And Cheryl shows that! So don't comment saying OH MY GOSH, how do they afford a camera, they probably had one camera. And it is truly wonderful how you don't take it for granted.

By Kelly Taylor.. Posted October 25 2009 at 11:43 AM.
Cheryl I had beans on toast this morning, and that was by choice. Also poor you having to make do with hand me down toys, my heart bleeds for you having to go through such a tough childhood.
Back in my day we had to create our own fun, like kick the can, British bulldogs two man hunt etc.Do you know what though I wouldn,t have swapped it for the world, those were not poor times those were happy times......P.S You can't sing, you are like a fish out of water on the x factor, and I give you a year at most and it will be back to beans on toast for you again.
By Harry.. Posted October 25 2009 at 11:32 AM.
From ya pics of ballet dancin really must have been on the breadline sure there was video cam clips of you as a child shown well i wasn't brought up on baked beans and we couldn't afford cam-corder's back in the day!!
Stop chattin Sh!t like you hard this really hard upbringing u grew up on a council estate like 80% of the British population so stop going on like you were in the soviet union no sympathy from ere for ya count ya self lucky at least you got out that life the rest of us are still there an baked beans or caviar i don't need to sell my soul to earn a few dollars !!!!!!

As a kid I looked forward to Beans on toast.

By Franky.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:53 AM.
Yeah she was accepted to Ballet school but through the daily star it was a sponsorship.

Darling, I lov u , why did he cheat on you?
By bal bhangal.. Posted October 25 2009 at 10:46 AM.
I read somewhere that Cheryl was acccepted into a prestigous ballet school. Knowing how much ballet lessons cost along with all the other parapehernalia, her family couldn't have been that poor!

To all those going on about the fight, have you never made a mistake in your life? how many other celebrities have got in fights and been forgiven, I'd say the majority of stars have at some point made a mistake in their lives its just a shame low lives like you on here judge her for 1 mistake she made 6 years ago.
Most of you are probably jealous of her and what she has made of her life after being given no help by her upbringing at all.

What I dont get is that people here treat Cheryl like an Angel then treat Ashley like a demon!!! Cheryl beat up a defenseless toilet worker.. I see Ashley supporting her at everything she does like the music or X-factor series but ofr once I havent seen Geordie lars at Stanford Bridge or on Thursday she didnt turn up at her husbands movie premier, if it was Cheryl that turned up on her own the media would have demonised Ashley....
By Ola Ray.. Posted October 25 2009 at 8:40 AM.
How much longer can this awful woman keep milking public sympathy to sell her drivel.Shame on the NOTW for trying to brush over her assualting the toilet attendant, all hell broke loose over that poor woman's face it looked at though a boxer had beaten her up. Of course she stays with Ashley she knows she will get a big divorce settlement one day.

What a load of crap -26 and she has seen it all - you would think she has survived the Blitz or something, go stand next to the other slapper what's her Name Jordan or something we keep reading about all there tear jerking hardships - hardships are out in the real world my dear where we live not in cuckooo land.
By live dutch.. Posted October 25 2009 at 8:06 AM.
Errr, Lisa - what exactly am I supposed to be jealous of? I'm a bloke for crying out loud! She hasn't got anything I want - not even the money.
If I ever get rich, I want it to be because I truly earnt it, not because I got lucky with 4 other bimbos on a naff talent show and then got hitched to a womanising, mediocre footballer.
Talk about being a tad obsessed.

Poor little Chezza. Convicted of beating up an even poorer toilet attendant. Here's the BBC report from 2003: "Tweedy... punched the toilet attendant after Mrs Amogbokpa tried to stop her taking some lollipops."

McDonalds and Chinese . . . sounds pretty priviliged to me!
By Jaded.. Posted October 25 2009 at 7:38 AM.
it annoys me so much that people can't just be happy for her. she had a hard life and she turned it around - good for her. all u people who are giving her a hard time would u have the same attitude if it was ur child/sister/brother/cousin/friend or anybody else that had done what she has done and would u be this negative.
what irritates me about our country, is we help all these people get to where they are by either watching the tv shows there on, buying the papers, there in or the music they make but then u don't think twice before trying to knock them down and break them.
yes it's sad that there are still a lot of people out there going through tough times but isn't it better that at least one person can turn their life round and maybe even inspire others to do the same and show that it is possible????
well done Cheryl keep doing what ur doing!!!!

Yes it must have been a hard life coming from walsend,my life was even harder in blyth. But after realy working hard for 43 yrs i have made a good life for myself and my wife, she gets money sooo easy nowadays with being on the telly.Hard up,i wont even start with the subject having lived in a house 1955 with 7 brothers+sisters in a 4 bed council house from the north-east.We were always skint, lucky to have food on the table, kids these days do not know that they are born with a very good life now.

YOU WERE LUCKY CHERYL....WE DIDNT EVEN HAVE BEANS!!!
By cravena.. Posted October 25 2009 at 1:10 AM.
@ Luke: Cheryl has talked about this a few times, notably in the Girls Aloud book, which came out in 2008...
By Fa.. Posted October 25 2009 at 12:52 AM.
Cheryl's story is a fabulous rags to riches story. I mean, just in 2002 she turned her life around. I love her. She inspires me and I read everything about her.
I pray that anyone who has skeletons in THEIR closets don't get rich and famous, as that's the 1st thing the Media does, is bring those skeletons out of that closet. So, whomever wants to throw the first stone - go ahead.
By Pinky.. Posted October 25 2009 at 12:32 AM.
What a story. Great shame then that girl can't sing, though. I understand that her album is appalling and is set to be discounted in Asda before it is even released.
