WHAT a wake-up call! Anna Friel strips NAKED on stage in Breakfast at Tiffany's - and serves a full English.

She looked sensational in the role made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 Oscar-winning movie.

Unlike prim Audrey, our Anna, 33, had all her gems on show as she sparkled as Holly Golightly - who eats pastry outside the famous New York jewellers after a night out.

The former Brookside star, who has had singing lessons, trilled fans at last week's preview at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket.

One said: "The guys in the front row couldn't believe it, their eyes were on stalks. It looked like they were about to pass out."

The play opens on September 29. Anna now lives in Los Angeles with Harry Potter star David Thewlis, 46, and their four-year-old daughter Gracie and recently starred in American comedy Pushing Daisies. She appears with Will Ferrell in family adventure film Land of the Lost later this year.

But sadly she won't be getting her Tiffany's out in that.

The movie was written for Marilyn Monroe by Truman Capote and: if his and her vision had been ''allowed'' we would not need to have remakes . Anyway good to see that the times now allow for a more realistic interpretation of the script .

Theatre's should be obligated to post a content warning on their ads or on the tickets. This is the only fair thing to do for patrons. It's done for films and it should be done for plays also.

Minnie, I think your daughter might be a lot more blase about nudity than you are aware of. I'm sure she's gutted she couldn't watch the whole show. You know what these 12 year old UK teenagers get up to ;-)

I took my just turned 12 year old daughter to see this show yesterday afternoon, needless to say ive never read the book only seen the film adaptation. Anna Friel is a great actress, we were both looking foward to seeing her on stage. Firstly, i would like to point out when i booked the tickets i was not told that the show contained full frontal nudity, consistant bad language and context which i would consider unsuitable for children. If like me you've only seen the movie and your thinking of taking your little one's to see this, then i would seriously think again. I walked out at the interval as i did not want my daughter witnessing anymore of the play. Perhaps i should have been warned of what the show contained, but at £50 a ticket the theatre are reluctant to share that info. Im no prude, but in my opinion, this is a show for adults only.

Julie this show is NOT based on the film it is based on the original novella written by Truman Capote. Anna has not let herself down she has shown herself to be a true professional - a beautiful, classy and talented one too!!!!

hahaha - It must feel such a shame to make a school girl mistake like that - read the book honey, the film was a fantastic let down in my opinion!

must say though Anna Friel looks truely fantastic, what a body!

seeing anna inthe n.o.t.w this morning was like the sun coming out early. if youv'e got flaunt it. nice one anna you look great

Julie have you ever read the book upon which the film was based on? No I didn't think so. The mood and feel of the book is much darker and no "sweet and light" like the film. The film is my fav film of all time but it doesn't have the same feel as the book. Holly was a prostitute remember!

I can't believe Julie's comments. Julie, she is ACTING-that's what actors do. She is playing the role of a prostitute, something that the film with Audrey Hepburn glossed over. Read the book and get a life.

BTW I think Anna looks great.

Julie you clearly don't have a clue love, Anna is acting and she is a very good one at that.

Julie, my my, aren't we being a little ridiculous. I'm not sure what's so scandalous about a glimpse of the human body (not the first time for Anna, by the way).

As for the original with Audrey Hepburn.. Well, it wasn't the original. The original was a book -- a book I'd suggest you never read because if a quick glimpse of the naked body is enough to upset you, then some of the other topics in the book will make your head explode.

Julie - Read the story already. Holly was an "escort" so you calling Anna Friel a "tart" doesn't work as she is merely acting the character. She is not living up to the film image. Get a life and a new icon already!

Peter's comment is spot on what I was going to say. The images attatched to this make it seem like she's naked a lot in it. She isn't. She's lying on a couch, she gets up, and is naked for all of about 10 seconds before she grabs a blanket and covers up. What, did you expect her to get up from sun bathing, and just magically have clothes on? It doesn't cheapen the role. The novella is far less PG than the movie was. You need to remember this is an adaption of the book, not the movie.

And I'd also like to point out that Anna is not the only person who is naked (for a very very short time) in the play. Nor is this the first play to have featured nudity, without being cheap or degrading.

By Rosanna.. Posted September 20 2009 at 2:15 AM.

Get over yourself Julie!! The original was nearly 50 years ago and nudity wouldn't have been so readily accepted back then and certainly not on film. Anna Friel is a natural, beautiful, talented, British actress who is happily married and mother to a young daughter - hardly a 'tart'. I don't imagine she either scripted or cast the roles for the play.

She can stop for breakfast at Chez Chunt's anytime.

By Tearful Chunt.. Posted September 20 2009 at 1:57 AM.

Does it feel good to be a tart Anna ?
This would never get close to the original with Audrey Hepburn who was class without having to get her clothes off.
You've let yourself down Anna when there was no need to.
