Amy Winehouse is going native

New songs will be in Caribbean language

YO Vle' Mwen ale' Net'waye' core mwen me de yo, non, non, non!

No, this isn't Amy Winehouse slurring her words as she orders a kebab with extra chilli sauce at stupid-o'clock in the morning (though it's probably not far off).

It is in fact the wasted singer's famous Rehab chorus - translated into the native language of her new Caribbean home.

For the star has shocked record label bosses by demanding she sing her new album in Kwéyól, the local DIALECT of St Lucia.

Amy, 25, - who's applied to become a St Lucian citizen - is taking intensive lessons to learn the local lingo.

A source said: "Amy hasn't decided whether to translate the tracks she's already written or to write something else that better suits the sound of the language."

But the move has infuriated chiefs at Island Records, who hoped the album - out next year - would be a return to form for the troubled warbler.

A top music insider told us: "There's no way we can release an album with Amy singing in a Caribbean language. We'd be a laughing stock - it would be a commercial flop."

Looks like Amy's new pidgin music has got everyone in a right old flap.

Tallulah hits the mark, should know is in the biz and once again the bean counters at Island haven't a clue how to surf the curve. What management? Where is the maturity, where is the love? Don't they know that their style stifles creativity? Until they get someone who thinks on the right level, nuttin is gonna cut the ice.

This is just another in a string of self-indulgent dodges: 'way late with new CD, track record of canceled or non-performances, constant excuses and delaying tactics, and utter rubbish from her p.r. people (she's starting a recording co.! a fashion line! wants to cure sick kids!).
She has ample time and resources, but hasn't recorded in three years; seems to actively DISLIKE and AVOID performing, writing, or recording at all; and creates situations that INSURE that she can't perform or release any recordings.
If she felt "oppressed" by her label, she could cut loose, but she doesn't ... because then she'd have fewer excuses for doing nothing.
Face it: She peaked two years ago -- and either has no "talent" left, or is too damaged to do anything.

The St.Lucia's mother tongue is a French dialect like in Haiti and other Caribbean islands.

kweyol isn't native to St. Lucia its just broken french like the locals call it. The French and British went to war 14 times over St. Lucia . England won the last war so the official language is English there is no language call Caribbean. Learn history please, before you type crap.

Go Amy! I'd like to hear her sing in Caribbean! Who can make out the lyrics in songs anyway? I never can. I listen to the voice and the music and I don't care what language it is - Persian, Tunisian, French, English. Who cares! STUPID Record bosses. STUPID. Shows what they know about music! Nothing.

Erm, why not just let her sing it in kweyol? Something has happened to the world when an artist can't make an album with any musical truth to it...

at the end of the day she is better off in st.lucia... if she was back here she probably would be dead by now. People should be happy that she's trying to sort her life out. But to be honest her record label are right, she should just forget about trying to record an album in st. lucian lol

Why don't they just cut her loose, cut their loses & let her fend for herself.

I hope she stops there, it's obviously better for her, better for us, and reporters get a nice little holiday to do an article on her. All Win, Win, Win...
