The former Rangers and Falkirk striker was set to complete a loan move from Plymouth until the end of the season under Csaba Laszlo.
But although the Hungarian was dramatically sacked on Friday, Jefferies only has to rubber-stamp an agreement that will give him some much-needed fire-power for the run-in.
If the move goes through, it will be a blow for Hibs boss John Hughes who had hoped to take the player to Easter Road.
Hughes had Gow at Falkirk, but he was unable to cover a sufficient percentage of Gow's wages to make it happen.

Although there is interest in the player down south, it's understood Gow wants a return to the SPL.
Hearts have managed just 20 goals in 22 league games, so Jefferies' need to get a fresh face in before tomorrow's transfer deadline is glaringly obvious.
Gow's form at Falkirk three years ago earned him a Bosman move to Rangers, but he seldom featured under Walter Smith.
He spent last season on loan at Blackpool and Norwich before signing for the Pilgrims and Paul Sturrock at the start of this season.
But Paul Mariner is now in charge of first-team affairs at Home Park and Gow has struggled to get a starting place. He sees Tynecastle as the place to kick-start his career.
He still has 18 months to go on his current contract so Hearts would need to pay a fee for him in the summer if the loan move works out.
