Disabled X Factor star's Everest bid

WHEELCHAIR-BOUND KERRY'S CHARITY CLIMB

X Factor Story

WHEELCHAIR-BOUND X Factor beauty Kerry McGregor is to scale the world’s tallest mountain — with a team of disabled climbers.

The brave Scot will take on the challenge of her life when she tackles Everest later this year to raise funds for charity.

The 32-year-old — who made it to the final rounds of the ITV1 talent contest in 2006 — hopes to inspire others with her courageous effort.

She told how her X Factor experience transformed her life and convinced her she can do ANYTHING she applies herself to.

She said: “I’ve had amazing opportunities since X Factor and I want to show people, disabled or not, there is nothing that can’t be overcome. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

“Obviously, we can’t go all the way to the top...the wheelchairs would hit a few snags.

“We’ll just try and get to the highest base camp before the peak which will still be a massive achievement.

“I’m so excited about it. What an amazing thing to be able to put on your CV.”

Mum-of-one Kerry, of Pumpherston, West Lothian, signed up for the adventure with disability charity Beyond Boundaries. She lost the use of her legs when she broke her back falling from a tree at the age of 13.

But the blonde, who was mentored on X Factor by Sharon Osbourne, has since launched a successful modelling career. She is set to launch a sexy lingerie line for Wheelie Chix Chic — a specialist label which produces clothes for women in wheelchairs — after starring in a fashion show for them last year.

Kerry also found time to appear in classic kids’ TV show Grange Hill.

She plays the stressed-out mum of a school bully in an episode of the BBC favourite to be screened on Monday next week.
