The 38-year-old, who aims to lose a stone in six weeks with our Scottish Slimmers plan, couldn't resist tucking into a fish supper.
But the radio presenter, from Orkney, who has lost 6lb so far, insists he's keen to get back on track.
He said: "I went out with friends on Monday and all my diet rules went out of the window in four minutes. I treated myself to fish and chips, which was delicious at the time, but has definitely left a horrible taste.
"I feel incredibly guilty, even though I lost 2lb this week. I've got to get my head back in the zone."
Meanwhile, Clyde 1 DJ Suzie McGuire, above, had her own blip after breaking her diet with a glass of bubbly... or two.
The mum-of-two, from Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, admitted: "I've put ON half a pound this week. But I'm trying to stay focused rather than throw in the towel."
Suzie, 34, added: "It's hard trying to balance the diet with a social life, but I've learned my lesson this week. I'm only human after all.
"I'm determined to lose a stone and, having lost 6lb so far, I've got to give it my best shot."
WE all have bad days when we think about giving up - so here are Ten Commandments from Scottish Slimmers to help you get over that blip...
1. Be Yourself - has losing weight turned you into a different person? If you're shy or fed up acting like the big joker, remember losing weight can give you confidence and turn you into who you want to be.
2. Positively More Healthy - even if you feel like you've heard it all before, losing weight is great for your health. Being overweight can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes and certain cancers.
3. Tired All The Time? Not for long! Eating healthily will boost your energy levels so you can have more fun with friends and family.
4. Shop Til You Drop - shopping can cause embarrassment, depression and a determination to avoid fashion at all costs. But just remember the thrill of being able to buy whatever you want when you reach your target weight.
5. Join In! Children can be exhausting - especially if you're carrying extra weight. But as you shed those unwanted pounds, get your heart beating and get back in the game!
6. No More Dreading Special Occasions - parties, work nights, weddings and dates can be absolutely terrifying. Once you have shed the pounds you'll be standing at the front of the group when the flash bulb goes.
7. Show Them All - in the past you might have endured comments from family, friends or even strangers. The main reason to lose weight is to do it for yourself - but wouldn't it be great to show them all how much you've achieved?
8. Indulge Yourself - you don't have to starve or suffer to lose weight. Treating yourself to a glass of wine or scoop of ice cream doesn't have to be the end - just make sure you stay in control.
9. Loads of Self Esteem - from buying a swimsuit to undressing with the lights on, losing those excess pounds can have a positive effect on your life. Stay on track and change your luck.
10. Get Someone On Your Side - slimming groups and classes are for everyone. Having a friend to support you can make a huge difference when you're feeling down - why not give it a try?

The most important thing is WHY you eat and not WHAT you eat. The key to long term weight maintenance is to not overeat in the first place and all of that is based on what you think and not what diet you might happen to choose.
