The star put work on the release of her debut album to one side to fly from her London base to Scotland for the tot's baptism last Sunday.
And her brother James - baby James John's grandad - was delighted that Wild Horses wouldn't have kept her away from the service at St Mary's and St Columba's Church in Bathgate, West Lothian.
The 58-year-old beamed last night: "Susan was desperate to be here even though she's busy in London with her new album.
"She and my daughter Jacquelene are close and it was important that they could be together on this special day. It was a wonderful occasion - all my brothers and sisters joined together to celebrate the life of my first grandchild."
In April, we revealed how the 48-year-old Britain's Got Talent star gifted her own cradle to her niece for the tot.
Jacquelene, 32, told us: "Susan gave us the Moses basket she slept in as a baby, so it's almost 50 years old."
The recruitment consultant and electrician hubby Stephen Houston, 34, now hope James John will inherit his great-aunt's talent.

Jacquelene added: "I've got my fingers crossed that watching Susan on TV and sleeping in her cot will mean he picks up some of her musical genes. I'm tone deaf!"
And judging from baby JJ's adoring gaze at Susan in our snap, taken two weeks after his birth in April, he's already a big fan.
Susan's CD, I Dreamed A Dream, is out on November 23.
It features 11 covers including her first single Wild Horses and the Les Miserables song that wowed the world in her audition last spring, plus a new song written for her, Who I Was Born To Be.

Awwwwwwwww!!! What a beautiful picture of Susan holding her adorable great nephew. You can tell by her face that she loves her great nephew very much and she would have made a great mom.

What a lovely picture of Susan looking so happy as she cradles her little great nephew while he looks in wonder at her, even though he doesn't realise yet what a superstar she is! Congratulations to all the family for their loving support for each other.
