Dubai killer hit-and-run fury

THE husband of a Scots gran killed by a hit-and-run fiend in Dubai has hit out at the death driver's soft sentence.

Jeffrey Wood, 54, looked on in horror as his wife Kate was mown down by a local playboy in his three-tonne Hummer.

Tycoon's son Aameer Abdullah, 22, mounted a pavement to plough through the mum-of-three - then ran over her another TWO times.

He then tried to escape justice by speeding from the crime scene.

Despite that, a judge in Dubai this week jailed Abdullah for only 10 years - instead of the maximum 25 years he could have given him.

But tragic Kate's hubby is refusing to accept the court's decision.

Jeffrey, of Inverness, may launch an appeal against the killer's jail term - or sue him for MILLIONS.

Last night the raging oil worker, above with Kate, blasted: "He got 10 years for taking a life - how can that be right? My wife was in her prime. She left grandchildren and her own kids who are all going to suffer for the rest of their lives.

"Abdullah should have got more. I will be speaking to my lawyer."

The Woods moved to the Arabian Gulf in 2006 with youngest son Callum, 15. Their other boys, Colin, 31, and Michael, 29, still live in the Inverness area.

Kate was killed on May 30 this year on a night out to celebrate her 52nd birthday. As her taxi stopped outside a top Dubai club, it forced Abdullah to halt in his Hummer.

He quickly lost his temper and drove straight at the Woods and another Brit couple, hitting Jeffrey and trapping Kate under his wheels.

The brute then REVERSED over the gran before driving over her again and speeding off. But a judge said he couldn't deliver a murder verdict because Abdullah's actions were not "premeditated".

Jeffrey added: "It was just unbelievable impatience on his part but such a waste. Kate was only little - she didn't stand a chance."
