The warped fiend, who went on a horrific moggy torture and killing spree, is to be freed in a fortnight.
Now furious locals, in Clarkston, Renfrewshire, are trying to drive the fat cat killer's family out of their £450,000 bungalow.
The tubby weirdo's parents have had bricks thrown at their windows, threatening phonecalls and hate mail warning they'll suffer if he comes home.
Last night a source close to the family admitted the hate campaign has been escalating as Docherty's release approaches.
He said: "People want the Dochertys out for what their son did. Folk don't want a monster in their midst. They fear it will start again and he'll slaughter more pets once he's out."
Docherty's parents John, 58, and Janet, 56, and his brother Michael, 27, have been shunned by their former friends. The bloated sadist prowled local streets and snatched neighbours' cats before tormenting them for hours in his bedroom.
The 23-year-old chopped the heads off three cats, scalped two others, and tore the tail off one defenceless animal.
The brute was jailed for eight months last June for seven counts of animal cruelty at Paisley Sheriff Court - where a screaming hate mob was waiting outside for him.He was banned from keeping animals for life and even his own lawyer warned he could graduate to hurting people.
A Scottish Prison Service insider revealed that Docherty is set to be released within the next two weeks. But last night East Renfrewshire Council condemned the threats against his family. A spokesman said: "He has been punished in court."
A Strathclyde Police spokesman said any allegations of threats would be investigated. The SPS last night confirmed he is scheduled for release this month.
