Richey's ex on why she's tying knot again

DEATH ROW SCOT'S BRIDE-TO-BE HOPES IT'S SECOND TIME LUCKY

DEATH Row Scot Kenny Richey's bride-to-be hopes it will be second time lucky when she walks down the aisle with him - AGAIN.

Speaking exclusively to News of the World, Wendy Ameraud revealed why she's agreed to marry ex-hubby Richey, 44.

The 53-year-old American says she is standing by her man despite a string of lurid affairs since he got engaged to her.

Speaking from her home in Minnesota, the mother of Richey's only son revealed she will give him one last chance by getting re-married next month.

She told us: "I'm really nervous - this is my second marriage to the same man, so I must be a glutton for PUNISHMENT.

"We got engaged last year in Scotland after Kenny was released - but since then it has been a bit of a struggle."

That "struggle" was caused by her fiancé going off the rails in his native Edinburgh.

He had a fling with a teenager plus a glamour model, and was then remanded in custody for an alleged attack on a grandad.

But that charge was dropped in March and Richey left the UK days later to head for the States.

Wendy told us: "When he was in prison I didn't hear anything from him for seven months.

"I had to keep up to date with phone calls to his mum. To say I was FURIOUS when he went to jail is an understatement.

"But I'm happy that Kenny is back. He has been here since the end of April and things have gone well."

Richey moved in with Wendy two weeks after his dad Jim died in Washington state, aged 70, after a battle with cancer.

It was his dying wish for his son to get back with his ex-wife.

Richey proposed to her on a whirlwind trip to Scotland after he was released in January 2008 from Ohio's Mansfield Correctional Institution - where he spent 21 years on Death Row for the murder of two-year-old toddler Cynthia Collins.

But after the conviction was quashed Richey flew back to Scotland, where he took Wendy on a string of dates, including a day trip to Dunoon, Argyll.

She said: "I had a lovely time in Scotland. It was really romantic but it all happened so fast.

"It's when I returned to the USA that things went from bad to worse. But we're trying now - and that's all that matters."

Richey hopes to escort Wendy down the aisle in an emotional church service.

His mum Eileen, 64, brother Steve, 42, and other relatives will be there to see the couple, who first wed in 1984 (left).

But their son Sean, 24, will still be behind bars, after being jailed in Minnesota.

Wendy said: "It would mean the world to us if our son Sean got out of prison to see us get married.

"Kenny hasn't seen him since he got out. It would be good to be together for the first time."

Richey explained: "Sean violated his probation rules when he tried to come to see me.

"I feel bad that he is in jail because of me. I just hope he can get out for the wedding."

The Scot revealed his fiancée could lose her home - after she ran up huge credit card bills to pay legal costs for their son.

He said: "We're really behind on the payments. We are not sure what we are going to do.

"Wendy is still working and I am trying to find a job. But we are DROWNING in debt."

Richey also revealed he hopes to marry in uniform.

He said: "I've joined the US Air Force Auxiliary. I'm working in civilian air patrol helping with search and rescue.

"I recently got my camouflage uniform but what I am really looking forward to is getting the blue uniform - it would be nice to be wearing it when I walk Wendy down the aisle."

Richey insisted he's turned his life around with the help of former Blue Peter presenter Diane Louise Jordan, 49.

He explained: "Diane is my life coach but she is much, much more than that.

"She is like a member of my family - I really want her to be at the wedding. She has been so wonderful to me."

Richey added that he hopes to spend more time looking after his two grandchildren Taliyah, five, and Taiton, two.
