Fiends giggled as I lay 'dying'

A STAB victim who twice “died” on the operating table lashed out last night at soft sentencing which could see his attacker freed in just THREE years.

Simon Pratley lost more than FIVE PINTS of blood when two men attacked him with a hunting blade and a steak knife after a petty row.

The pair were jailed indefinitely—yet one only has to serve at least three years.

Now Simon, 27, is backing the News of the World’s Save Our Streets campaign to fight knife crime,

The sales executive told how his callous attackers LAUGHED as he lay in a pool of blood with eight stab wounds and a punctured lung.

“I saw Gordon Brown on TV saying people caught with a knife for the first time will go to jail for 12 weeks,” he said angrily.

“Twelve weeks? People round here will go to jail for that long just to BOAST about it — and this is a law CHANGE!

“The only time Gordon Brown sees a knife is when he eats a steak.”

After the horror attack in January outside his sister’s home on an Oxford estate, Simon was rushed to hospital.

During eight hours of surgery he twice went into cardiac arrest and had to be revived.

But Simon said: “I got angry and thought, I’m not going to let those bastards kill me.

“Later the surgeon told me the knives had been pushed in up to the handle—at least five inches.”

“There is no way I should be alive, it’s only luck they weren’t facing a murder charge.

“The law favours the criminal, not the victim and that must change."
