She screamed 'You won't look pretty any more ..' then I felt my whole head on fire
Girl torched by love rival tells of horror that's changed her life forever
THE six chilling words will haunt teenage fireball victim Lucy Goldsmith every time she looks in the mirror. . . "You won't look pretty any more!"
It was the last thing she heard before her jealous love rival drenched her in white spirit, flicked a lighter and sent searing flames to engulf the stunning 15-year-old.
Merciless monster Georgina Clarke- Webber, 19, plotted her evil revenge after her ex took unsuspecting Lucy on a bowling date and kissed her goodnight on the way home.
And the vicious young mum callously LAUGHED while Lucy's skin bubbled and cracked in the intense heat as she rolled around in agony crying out for help.
Last night after her tormentor, who admitted causing grievous bodily harm, was jailed for 10 years, brave Lucy revealed her appalling injuries and relived the ordeal.
She told us: "I felt this blazing, raw heat on my head. I could smell my hair burning. I reached up and felt the flames and realised I must be on fire. I'd never felt pain like it.
"The flames spread from my head and onto my face and down to my jumper.
"I was screaming for someone to help me. I could feel my skin bubbling and throbbing under the heat. It was popping and smouldering and I could smell my flesh burning."
Terrified, Lucy threw herself on the ground and rolled around on the grass to put out the flames. "It was so hot that my elastic bra strap melted into my skin," she said. "I was in so much pain. I just kept thinking, 'I'm going to die! This is it, I'm going to die!'
"I closed my eyes tight, curled up into a ball and just prayed someone would help me. I tried to take off my jumper because it was disintegrating in the heat but as I did that my shoulder and hand caught fire too.
"I could feel my skin tighten and shrivel and I was gasping for water. I just wanted the pain to stop. I wanted to sleep. I was exhausted.
"I wanted to cry but I couldn't. It was the most intense torture you could imagine."
Lucy's life was saved by a neighbour who rushed over and put out the blaze by covering her blistered body with a wet T-shirt as she lay shaking and shivering on the grass.
Ruined
Lucy, now 16, spent three days in a coma after the hideous attack and movingly recalled how she didn't recognise the "monster" staring back at her when she finally found the courage to face the mirror.
Sadly she told us: "Every time I see my reflection I'm reminded of how unattractive I am. I hate being naked and taking my clothes off because I've got to look at my scars again and relive what happened. I feel ugly."
Pulling down her top to reveal scarred skin on her shoulder that looks like a crinkled crisp packet, Lucy added: "I used to feel good about my looks. But now I've lost all confidence in my appearance and don't know if boys will ever be interested in me again." Lucy then recalled how the events that ruined her life were set in train the day she agreed to go on that fateful date with 19-year-old Lee Bennett at a south London bowling alley.
He told her he was single. But suddenly she was bombarded with threatening text messages and calls from jealous Clarke-Webber, mother of Bennett's one-year-old son.
In one call she warned: "You stay away from Lee, you bitch! I'm watching you, you hear me? If you see him again I'll know about it and I'm coming after you." After the first message Lucy told Bennett she didn't want to see him again. But evil Clarke-Webber wasn't done. She enlisted a so-called friend of Lucy's to lure her into a trap.
The 'pal' arranged to meet Lucy at a bus stop in Eltham, south-east London, on June 15. Lucy says she just "froze" when she then saw Clarke-Webber emerge from nearby pushing her baby in a pram. "She came towards me and poured this clear liquid, which I thought was water, over my head," said Lucy.
"I grabbed her wrists but she said, 'Get on your knees and beg for your life, bitch!'
"It was then she vowed to ruin my looks, got hold of my pony tail and set fire to me."
Panicked
The next thing Lucy remembers is waking from her coma, attached to a maze of wires in the special burns unit at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. Heavily sedated and hallucinating, Lucy opened her eyes for the first time-and panicked because she thought she was still on fire.
She recalled: "Then I looked up to see my mum stood by my bed holding my hand, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"My uncle Mick walked in but he couldn't look at me. Instead he turned, stared out the window and cried." Lucy suffered third degree burns to her left hand and her arm. Her badly blistered neck, shoulders and back needed skin grafts taken from her thighs. The top of her left ear turned black and fell off.
With her head swathed in bandages and her face badly scarred, Lucy told her nurses to put a towel over the mirror because she couldn't bear to look.
She even asked for her TV screen to be turned away and metallic 'Get well' balloons to be removed in case she saw her reflection.
"I wasn't ready to face that," said Lucy. "I was scared of what I'd look like.
I've lost all my confidence with boys. I don't feel attractive. Who would want me? 
"I knew all my hair had burnt off and that I was completely bald but I didn't feel brave enough to ask if it would ever grow back again or if the scars would be permanent. I was scared of the answer."
Lucy got her first glimpse of the truth just two days before she left hospital-when the towel slipped off the mirror.
"I didn't recognise my own face," she shuddered. "I just thought, 'Who is this monster ?' I was more upset than angry. I just felt numb."
Now Lucy faces two years of gruelling physiotherapy-where the skin is manipulated, stretched and massaged with cream to stop it becoming too tight. But the plucky teenager is bravely struggling to get her life back on track.
Redhead Lucy-whose interview can be seen on video by clicking on the link on this page -now wears a black wig to cover some of her scars. She has even returned to college and is training to be a hairdresser. "I had to learn how to walk again because my legs felt tight and heavy," she said. "My first steps were so painful I sat on the bed and cried.
"I had to re-learn how to use a knife and fork, pick up a pen and write my own name.
"I can't go swimming, which I love, because the chlorine irritates my skin. I can't sit out in the sunshine in a bikini. I hate the feel of my rough skin. Every time I touch it the whole thing goes through my mind again."
Lucky
Barely able to mention her attacker's name, Lucy added: "She's not a person. No human could think of doing that to someone. She's just the most evil, vile person I've ever been unlucky enough to meet.
"I was determined to be there in Woolwich Crown Court and look into her eyes as she was sentenced. Absolutely nothing was going to stop me.
"I hope she rots in jail. She's got 10 years to wake up every day and think about what she did. But I've got to live with these scars for the rest of my life.
"I'm absolutely determined to come out of this a stronger person, though. I WILL enjoy my life, otherwise she's won.
"I just feel lucky to be alive. And I've vowed not to let this beat me."

I blame modern vanity, I also blame the fact this wasn't prevented. Reading this tells us, we can't trust anyone- even our friends, and also that any1 has ther capability to harm another person and theres nothing we can do to prevent it all the courts and punishment system do is clean up the mess.
If people are willing to accept a cosenquencee they will do something, especialy with a chance to escape cosequence, so is the court system a good thing? it doesn't mater cause no1 is brave enough to change nor to admit things are their fault.

OK just to say, the fact that some people are at all trying to defend that Georgina girl is appalling.
Regardless of 'mistakes' that Lucy had made, the girl is 15 years old. She is a child that was caught in a malicious act. AND despite 'faults' the fact that this Georgina girl stood and stared and laughed at Lucy while she could have died, proves that she has psychological problems and should be locked away and not allowed to see her son.
We've all been pissed and been treated unfair, but have you or I ever tried to completely ruin someones life and possibly kill them? NO
lock that girl up forever, disgusting people like that shouldnt be walking the streets.

Just remember....an evil person is FAR worse looking than any scars that you have because their soul is ROTTEN to the core. Anyway, your scars will smooth out with time and lighten. And they are NOT a reflection of the real you. You are a beautiful person!

I felt sorry for lucy's injuries as much as i felt for the mother whom gonna miss her 1 year old son for the next 10 years. Think of what the son might become without the mum's love. The son is innocent, i felt sorry for him too.

Lucy, i hope that ur are doin well and i have read your article and watched your video, its heartbraking! The monster that did this cant even be called a human being, because no human being would do this to another.. My little brother has bad and severe burning to hi head, chest and part of his thigh, and he was only 8 when this happened and he was really self consious, he was at the same hospital in chelmsford and he was in agony but the staff did everything that they could do to make him feel better, he is know as confident as he was before, he goes out and he even has a girlfriend knoe, she saw past his scars , same as a boy will see past your scars, you are still beautiful babe!!My brother went to burns camp that the hospital arrange that helped his confidence aswell, and he could be himself as other people there had scars.. Maybe you should see if you can go on one of these trips it will do u the world of good!! GOOD LUCK BABE, REMEMBER UR STILL AS GAWJUS AS EVER!!

As for some of the comments on here well i'm shocked that certain individuals can try to lay blame on you and insist georgina is an angel - afterall you dont get sentenced without trail and therefore i believe the real truth came out in the end. Like another person said, there are always two sides to the story. All of the people who have said that Georgina is evil, should rot in prison and deserves to have her child taken away are misguided. Georgina is a victim in this too. Are you trying to tell me that no one on here has ever had a moment of madness and done things they have deeply regretted? I doubt it.
If Lucy truly wanted to try and get on with her life, perhaps she shouldn't have sold her story to a newspaper or turned up for Georgina's sentencing and laughed when it was announced?

She should have got longer, however, I think you are an amazing brave girl stepping out into the public like that, so well done for that. Lucy, you are still VERY beautiful. That horrific person did not steal that from you. The short red style is lovely on you and in time you can have your long hair again, any color you want. Lucy, your story really got to me. Reading how someone could do something so cruel, so cold hearted made me so angry. It brought a tear to my eye, the way she has hurt you, but you have prved your a strong person and you will live your life to the full. Im 16 as well, and i know i couldnt have the courage you have. And i admire you for that. Your a really amazing young girl, im 19 and i dont think i could be strong like you about whats happend. I was bullied at school by girls about my looks and i left school with next to nothing and i really regret letting the girls get to me because now im just doing random jobs instead of working with children and i think that shows confidence just by going back to school. I didnt like my looks untill i met my boyfriend he made me realise people who go on looks are not worth it and its whats in your heart that matters. So just remember its whats inside that people love about you and you will be respected by so many people young and old. You story is so moving. You are such a brave girl. What that girl did was out of spite and jelousy. I know you have heard this before but there are wicked people out there who see other people with wonderful things and because they do not have that or because they want it, they would try and take it from the person that has it, even if themselves cannot gain it.
But this girl has not taken nothing from you because you still have you courage, you still have your personality, you still have your beautifulness inside and out and you still have your big heart; and no one can take that from you
you say you fear that boys will not like you for your looks now. Any boy who doesnt want to date you because of what you look like is arogent, selfish and wouldnt deserve you anyway. It would just go to show they do not think outside the box and not look at you for your innerself.

Wow! what a story, that Georgina is one unhinged sadistic piece of work, the courts should have had her placed in a padded room for the rest of her life but prision is just as good for this animal, Im pleased shes no longer walking around our streets anymore.
At the same time though I feel desprately sorry for Georgina's 1 year old child, I mean what on earth will that child think about mummy when their old enough to process what mummy did, I doubt for 1 second Georgina even thought this far ahead when she did what she did to poor Lucy.

Lucy like you we have someone in our family who was burned badly she was 5 at the time and we know the pain youand your family must be going though its hard to emagine that life will ever be normal again but with determination it can be .Any person that you come across in your life that cannot except you for who you are are the ones to really feel sorry for good luck and best wishes for the future .

How awful for this young girl to have endured such a horrific trauma. The girl responsible is inhuman to have conceived such an idea in the first instance. I feel sorry for her child who has the misfortune of having that for a mother.
Lucy is still a beautiful girl and beauty runs far deeper than outward appearance. In time I have no doubt she will meet and fall in love with a man who will see way beyond the scars that she cannot bear - those wounds are testimony to her bravery and innocence. I wish her a good life.

My son was treated in broomfield hospital, for burns, not to the extent of Lucy's, so i know what he suffered, so i dread to think the pain you went through, i feel for lucy so much, as we couldn't bare to see him being treated, this was very painful for him. He has mental scars, and luckily, his burns have healed very well. Broomfields in chelmsford did an amazing job, and the staff were so wonderful. Lucy youve been through so much, but your a beautiful girl who has life. This girl is evil, and ,my opinion shouldn't be ever allowed out again. A very wicked girl. Lucy i wish you a happy life, and i know you don't want her to win, so im in no doubt you will, and all the best for the future.

Nobody can take away what you've been through and I'm sure nobody should attempt to simplify your situation with words as they, like me, don't know what you're feeling, truly.
But, please don't take this the wrong way - you are attractive. I am sure there may be some shallow young men out there who look for magazine style perfection in a woman, but no man and no woman is 'perfect'. Attraction is a total sum of many parts and I am sure you have many parts of beauty. The other thing is that you seem to have a pretty face in the picture as well.
You will find lots of happiness in your life.
