Meet the karate monkey

I completely agree with Devin.
No one's hurting the monkey. They aren't starving him. He gets water. He has shelter. All he has to do for complete security and happiness is punch a board and jump over a stick.
In the wild, he wouldn't live a third of the time he will living in domesticity. And he'd still have to fight other monkeys. He'd still have to jump to climb trees.
Please give the whole "animal cruelty" thing a rest; this was a funny, light-hearted video, and now it's turned into debate club.

Just like cows, pigs, chickens and every other animal that we grow to feed us should lead a normal life in the wild eh?

Think before you make idiotic comments people. If the animal didnt want to do it then it wouldnt. Animals enjoy the attention, especially monkeys in generally being very sociable animals in and of themselves. Its just like teaching your dog or my birds tricks. My birds enjoy doing them and do them on there own most of the time now.

If this monkey was getting beaten, bruised, treated like ****, denied food and water. Then that would be cruel. No all forms of domesication are cruel folks. If i was, then release your pets, because keeping them in a warm home with food,water, and entertainment is just so horribly cruel amirite?

Its cruel and unnatural to teach animals such things. Please let them live a natural life. They are being used for money making entertainment. If they were just freely without encouragement copying, but that is not the case. they are best left in the wild, that is to say if they are there in a safe area.

They are Japanese, not Chinese.
On topic: I think pets are better off when they're entertainED(!) by learning tricks, which gives them a less stressful life. Unlike for instance cheetahs in the zoo, walking from side to side in their cages.
Of course, I'm not talking about things like bears learning to dance on hot coals.
And I too, think that monkeys and other wild animals should be left living in the wild.

How do you know if the monkey wants or chooses to do this or not? did you ask him??? let us ask those of you who own a dog, cat or bird! and god forbid if you teach them tricks!!! and how many of you have a wife or husband (bf/gf) that tells you what to do and if you don't.....get a ear bashing or worse! hypocrites the lot of you!!!

I am totally against this kind of human brutality towards animals. God didn't create these animal to be an entertainment for the humans nor to be their clown. When would we learn as humans that these kind of behaviour towards animals is totally unacceptable and must be maked illegal. How would you feel if gorillas would keep you as a pet and let you do things which you aren't created for like climbing trees. Just feel for once ashamed of yourself and leave the animals alone, and with alone I mean really alone. Let them do what they want with their lives and we do what we want with our lives.
